Is it just me or is Morven THE most annoying character ever?!

OP posts:
MommaGee · 30/01/2017 17:23

Yeah i thought it was a bit quick... She went from being off for another month to having a year off to coming back next week.
I think the legal minimum is 2 weeks

ButtonMoooooon · 31/01/2017 21:48

When Dom asked for the scalpel in theatre was anyone else shouting STAB ISAAC DOM at the TV? Or was that just me

ThornyBird · 31/01/2017 21:52

Just watched tonight's. Oh Dom Sad

ButtonMoooooon · 31/01/2017 22:15

It didn't take them long to turn Jez into a nasty piece of work, I think he should go off into the sunset with Isaac, they deserve each other!!!

BubbleWrapQueen · 31/01/2017 22:17

I think Isaac poisoned jez against Dom by telling stories the other night

ButtonMoooooon · 31/01/2017 22:36

Bubble I do too it just made me laugh how quick it was!!

Optimist1 · 01/02/2017 07:38

Even if Isaac didn't poison Jez, from his point of view Dom was behaving very strangely - texting from Isaac's phone, declaring him a 7.5 and promptly propositioning him. Red flags galore - Jez did well to avoid.

It looks as though Isaac is persuading Dom to distance himself from Zosia, and of course she and Ollie will be wrapped up in each other and not notice that Dom is in a bad place ...

contrary13 · 01/02/2017 10:06

What I don't understand is the fact that Dom's mum just... left him to get on with being emotionally manipulated/abused, having clocked it. As a PP said, she clearly has the measure of Isaac - and probably because of her marriage to Dom's dad, but... but... but...

I just don't understand it.

Unless the writers have determined from research that the children of emotionally abusive parents tend to repeat the patterns of behaviour they witness whilst growing up, of course... but... but... but...

She's his mum!!!

Why isn't she doing something to help him?!

(I may be too invested in this. Like others, I've never liked Isaac. And how on earth can Jez be quite a nice bloke in 'Casualty' and a complete dick in 'Holby'?! Maybe he needs Dom's mum to save him from Isaac to...)

Optimist1 · 01/02/2017 10:34

I think Dom's mum is between a rock and a hard place - if she tells him that Isaac is a wrong'un she risks a rift between her and her son. If she confronts Isaac he'll gaslight her and twist things so that she looks deranged. She's opted for saying nothing but being ready to spring into supportive action when Dom needs her (which is the decision I'd make if it was my boy). I expect she's making sure to keep in regular contact with him.

contrary13 · 01/02/2017 11:04

You're right Optimist.

Although I know what I have done to protect my child from an emotionally abusive relationship in the past (had a few quiet words with their best friend, who then realised for themselves what was going on... and helped my DD where I couldn't - because, as you say, if you do, there's the risk of a rift/pushing them further into the clutches of their abuser), I appreciate that perhaps the writers don't feel able to drag Zosia into the midst of this.

Another thing I've noticed is how Zosia and Dom don't really seem to have any sort of friendship with Morven. She's their other best friend's widow, but there seems to be little to no interaction between them with her.

pregnantat50 · 01/02/2017 19:40

watching Issac with Dom, I felt something horribly familiar, Issac behaves exactly like my ex did to me. Its very well portrayed, I'm guessing narccissit

MommaGee · 01/02/2017 23:16

I think for his mom too its hard cos she's got to say "Isaac is like your dad but I chose to stay with him and you should leave him". It broke my heart when she just left him. She needs to get Zoysia involved - she has no other storyline these days anyway.

I thought it was weird how little D and Z see M, when D moved out it would have been lovely for Z to move in with M but it never happened and now Little Miss has moved in I think?

LarrytheCucumber · 02/02/2017 05:36

I think some people are getting a bit too involved here Wink
I must admit I was shouting 'Walk away Dom' at the television.

ButtonMoooooon · 02/02/2017 09:03

I think some people are getting a bit too involved here

Isn't that the point though? I wouldn't watch something every week if I wasn't bothered about the outcome. Bit of escapism and see someone who's having a worse time than you.

My DH said last week I know it isn't real life but..... there's just no need!!!! I work in the NHS and like to pretend this is what's really going on whilst I am stuck in a boring office

Rachel0Greep · 02/02/2017 20:19

I'm catching up now. It's very well portrayed by both actors.

Surreyblah · 02/02/2017 20:49

Hadn't seen it for ages but heard about Mo and Mr T so watched that one on catch up, fast forwarding the other bits involving car crashes and death!

Really enjoyed it, especially the dodgy scandi outfits and dancing, HHansen, Olly and Jac ("best wedding ever") and of course the romance!

MommaGee · 02/02/2017 20:50

Watching right now. Want to cry for Dom.

MommaGee · 02/02/2017 21:44

If I kill Isaac will you all be my alibi?

Pepsioften100 · 02/02/2017 21:56

Oh my.... Isaac is infuriating. And you can see dom debating calling it off and then gets reeled back in!
Mo and mr T is so strange too mind- finally together but like super together, only just had baby but back at work, leaving not leaving, name changing for littlie.
Madness.
And now serena and jasmine story to follow

Optimist1 · 02/02/2017 22:07

Yes, officer, MommaGee was with me all evening. We were getting deeply involved in TV medical dramas, and can recite all the story lines to prove it! Grin

SoupDragon · 02/02/2017 22:31

What was that with Serena on the computer at the end? Did the look on her face mean she's worked out Jasmine didn't check Elinor's eyes?

MommaGee · 02/02/2017 23:50

Ta Optimist!

Rachel0Greep · 03/02/2017 00:35

I'm not sure Soup, possibly.

I didn't know if it was maybe slightly feeling that she was stuck with Jasmine because of the narrative about lambs and lions, and shepherds. I was only half watching though.

I have to keep reminding myself that Dom and Isaac are two well played parts. It's so well done that it's heartbreaking.

MommaGee · 03/02/2017 01:09

The last line was even if it kills them so wasn't sire of that was reference to Has killing daughter?

I found it so painful to watch Dom and Part, it was incredibly acted by both

MommaGee · 03/02/2017 01:09

Prat not part
