Yep, it turned out CSM had taken her and experimented on her. She died when she was fourteen (but there was some weird story about children being 'taken by starlight' or 'turned into starlight' or something, basically children about to die a horrible death get whisked away to a nice heaven-like place instead). Mulder found her diary and hugged her ghost (not as stupid as it sounds!) and felt like he had some closure. The episode ended with him saying "I'm free".

She died?? So the alien Curley red haired Samantha wasn't his sister then?

That was a clone of his sister - there were child clones and adult clones, but the real one died. (It has been ages, it's me who's weird! )

I don't know why I watched. It was beyond stupid and very camp with it, but not in an engaging way for me.

I think it was very tongue in cheek. If it was all serious it would be very heavy going.

This episode was the first I watched of the new series. It.was.beyond.shite. A pity because I was an avid fan of the first few series. Is it worth catching the previous couple of episodes on catch up or were they as bad?

This was a typical Darin Morgan episode, he did loads of the funny ones in the original series. I think this one was a kind of love letter to the die-hard fans, it's absolutely full of in-jokes. But I can see that it would be a bit alienating to the casual viewer! I quite like the silly ones though, the x-files can get a bit too pompous sometimes. But no, thumbs the rest of the series isn't like that one at all!

We absolutely loved it, but then I've always preferred that style of episode.

s10 e3 explained

The were-monster ep was a love letter to the fans I think, which was great for the obsessives amongst us but it seems to have left everyone else a bit cold. Depending on who you talk to it's either the best episode this season or the worst!

Oh I said that a couple of posts ago! I'm getting so confused with three threads on the go (one for UK viewers, one for those of us downloading them when they're on in the US, and the season 8 rewatch thread).
