I wasn't impressed with the first episode either. However the next two are a huge improvement imo.

candykane25 · 08/02/2016 22:06

I liked it. In all the series some episodes were slower and talkier and others were action packed and fast paced and quite a few where stand a lone mysteries.
I think it recapped enough tonight and explained the current status of mulder and sculls relationship now, and brought in the new storylines for this season, as well as revisiting all the old haunts and characters. Very well done for a return episode. I'm happy.

PerceptionIsReality · 08/02/2016 22:09

I actually quite enjoyed it. I was working so only half watching and so only understood about 25% of it but that's entirely normal for me and X-Files Mytharc episodes. I feel just as if I last saw the season finale 6 months or so ago, this is the opening episode of a new season and I'm vaguely remembering most of the previous season finale and trying to work out what is going in! Basically so far so normal - just as if it has not been away for 10 years!

They had to do a mytharc episode to start with as nothing else would have taken them back to the X files. But the difficulty with that is how many people totally followed all the mytharc stuff (even DD seemed confused at Comicon as to what had actually happened and that M&S had a child!) and it makes it hard to draw in new viewers.

I liked the familiar old feeling and I'm looking forward to a MOW episode next week.

Agree with others that s10 seems to get better as it goes along.

VashtaNerada · 08/02/2016 22:13

Other thread for anyone else watching downloads: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/telly_addicts/2557022-Aliens-and-SPOILERS-abound-its-X-Files-season-10

Verbena37 · 08/02/2016 22:32

I liked it. DS(10) watching with me as he loves that kind of thing.
It was a bit surreal though.....all of the conspiracies it mentions.....all real life conspiracies they've used (obviously not proven) so it was like listening to Before Its News.
For a minute I thought Scully was going to be her usual stick in the mud self but she came at the end in the car park. Shame about the girl being blown up though Sad

readyforno2 · 08/02/2016 23:33

I really liked it! Was tempted to download but managed not to.
I think I need a recap of some of the old ones. Would love to watch the pilot again.

Mulder is still very sexy... I too feel like a teenager again

Yoksha · 09/02/2016 10:19

I've never been a fan of x-files. But this was fantastic. I am a fan of sci-fi/conspiracy theories. So this was as they say, right up my alley. David Duchovny has really improved with age, and Gillian Anderson was fabulous. Even DH enjoyed this, and he's not a telly fan.

rebecca631 · 12/02/2016 16:30

I am super excited! I can't wait. Do you when the day it comes out is?

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/02/2016 16:35

thought i had replied on this

got confused, as usual Grin

so yet again its all a conspiracy theory?

and how can cancer man be back as he def died years ago

OP posts:
VashtaNerada · 12/02/2016 19:13

rebecca - it's Mondays on Channel 5
blondes - yep, conspiracy of men rather than aliens. And it is just ridiculous that CSM survived!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/02/2016 23:37

s10 e1 explained

well kinda, still confused

OP posts:
TrionicLettuce · 12/02/2016 23:45

Chris Carter himself once said "No-one ever really dies on The X-Files." Grin

I'm chuffed to bits that they brought back CSM, even if it is a bit implausible. He's almost as integral to The X-Files as Mulder and Scully, it just wouldn't have been the same without him.

I enjoyed the new episode, I think a bit more than I was expecting. I wasn't blown away by it but I thought it was a solid opener, did a good job of bringing the show to the present and I'm pretty excited to see what else there is to come.

SecretWitch · 13/02/2016 00:01

I am loving the X-Files..just wallowing in a happy 90's haze. Mulder is still heart stopping...

stargirl1701 · 15/02/2016 21:16

Anyone watching tonight?

Quite the gory episode! I've watched between my fingers 3 times now!!

CharleyDavidson · 15/02/2016 21:29

I can't watch it! I've tried. But Skully's voice just really annoys me. I'm sure she didn't croon every line in previous series. Is it just me?

MadauntofA · 15/02/2016 21:30

There is definitely a new huskiness going on! She looks great though

NewYearNewToads · 17/02/2016 02:35

I have no idea what is going on with Scully's voice in the first two episodes but it improves by the third episode.

VashtaNerada · 17/02/2016 06:48

Agreed! She becomes more Scully-like as time goes on.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/02/2016 19:49

just seen no 2, was good, a real x file :)

so the son of the doctor made people have headaches/noises and he made the man in the beginning kill his self due to the experiments done on the children???

nice they spoke of william

thought he got adopted by the couple sculley met so surely she could trave him

could william be with scm?

OP posts:
VashtaNerada · 17/02/2016 22:00

Scully never met William's adoptive parents blondes, we saw them but she didn't. We did wonder on the other thread if CSM might have him, raising them like he did Samantha and Spender.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/02/2016 22:07

ah that makes sense, mind is hazy as over 10yrs ago, i thought we saw scully take to the couple and say keep him safe

good point about sam and spencer

i have avoided that thread as didnt want to read any spoliers

apologises for my awful typing on last post, have a sticky keyboard on laptop :(
