Anyone else watching? I am really enjoying it, and have either read more Dickens than I realised, or at least the right books.
I had always imagined Little Nell to be a bit younger though.

I don't think it's Bill Sykes but I don't think it's Compeyson either.

I haven't read all the books represented here but hopefully Honoria doesn't end up as Lady Deadlock and Amelia he's a lucky escape too.

CeeBeeBee · 06/02/2016 01:02

Gets not "he's".

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 06/02/2016 01:08

We will find out in episode 17.

It's not a wild card, like young Peter Cratchit is it !!

CeeBeeBee · 06/02/2016 01:10

No. My money is on someone who has been liaising very closely with Bucket.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 06/02/2016 01:28

Oh not Venus ?

Igneococcus · 06/02/2016 08:06

dd (11) wants Mrs Bumble to be the killer because she detests her that much.
I have no clue who the killer is.

CeeBeeBee · 06/02/2016 08:12

The clues are there in Venus' behaviour when Bucket talks about the case. He was also very quick to get rid of the murder weapon by giving it away to Bob Cratchit on the previous episode.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 06/02/2016 09:41

Oh no. You could be right.

PortBlacksandIsOutOfQuay · 06/02/2016 20:18

I am loving this series!

But what i would really really really like is for a 6 or 10 - parter over Christmas this year with scrooge's conversion. It needn't even be done supernaturally (i'e you don't see the ghosts) .... just to see how his change of mind / heart affects the other characters over a few weeks would be brilliant.

If the BBC don't commission this they are stupid!

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 07/02/2016 02:12

I agree

Backingvocals · 08/02/2016 23:00

just watched the latest on catchup and admiring the performances all over again. Pauline Collins for a Bafta or an Oscar or some bloody thing cos she's brilliant. Love Nancy too. And the tenderness between Nancy and Fagin.

Re the murderer I'm going for some sort of Bumble connection because otherwise I just can't understand why they are in the piece at all.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 08/02/2016 23:06

I think the Bumbles are just comic relief.

PreemptiveSalvageEngineer · 08/02/2016 23:50

Pauline Quirk is pretty good, but I'm amazed by Caroline Quentin! Saw her name in the credits and it took me ages to figure out she she's playing, that's how natural she seemed in the part.

And it must seem pretty thick of me, but I didn't know these were 1/2 hour episodes - they pack so much in!

fredandme123 · 09/02/2016 08:32

Bumble is daddy pig!! Just worked this out while being tortured by peppa pig this morning Shock

pizzaeatingmonkey · 09/02/2016 12:15

Do you mean Pauline Collins?

EElisavetaOfBelsornia · 09/02/2016 14:51

Ok I'm back into it now. I got a bit annoyed by all Mrs Bumble's sexual teasing and the attempted rape of Mrs Gamp being seen as comic. I'm pretty sure Dickens had a better opinion of women than this. I'm saddened that it's all going inevitably tragic for Honoria and Amelia.

PreemptiveSalvageEngineer · 09/02/2016 18:30

I probably do, monkey Blush

FairiesAreReal · 10/02/2016 14:12

Loving Pauline Collins too. Can't wait for the next episode Smile

I don't want it to end - I think they should get rid of Eastenders and have Dickenders instead Grin

INeedABiggerBoat · 11/02/2016 23:14

Are we going to talk about tonight's episode yet, or are we all still in shock?

CeeBeeBee · 11/02/2016 23:21

Speculative spoilers.....

I shed a few tears during Honoria's labour and "death" of the baby.
Frances' plan is working. She has got Honoria and James where she wants them. Please spare the child. 😢

I saw the teaser trailer and I think Mrs Compeyson is going to play along and pretend to be his sister.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 12/02/2016 01:06

Oh my goodness. How good was that? That was the best episode yet. Brilliant acting by Frances and Honoria.

Igneococcus · 12/02/2016 06:19

I felt drained watching this.

mrswhiplington · 12/02/2016 10:18

Thought the last episode was brilliant, poor Honoria.

Frances is a bit twisted. Wonder what she will do next?

Hope the baby has a happy ending. Sad

FairiesAreReal · 12/02/2016 12:39

Ooh it was tense but ever so good. I thought Frances really showed a softer side and the relationship between the sisters showed a bit more depth. I've really got to read more of the books - starting with Bleak House Smile

dannydyerismydad · 12/02/2016 13:00

Could the baby be taken in by Miss Havisham? Esther is very similar sounding to Estella.
