Anyone watching?

OP posts:
TheMasterMurderedMargarita · 28/12/2015 22:12

Brilliant!
I kept changing my mind all the way though.
Very sinister.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/12/2015 22:12

Excellent adaptation. Very true to the book, spirit of it anyway. I salute the people watching it alone in the dark! I wouldn't. Grin

Choughed · 28/12/2015 22:14

Very fun. Though if you haven't read the book I would recommend it to 'explain' a bit more

BoGrainger · 28/12/2015 22:15

Oh god, am I the only one who was slightly disappointed with the ending?
Anyone who hasn't read the book should do so because the judge goes into why he chose his victims and how he decided the order of their deaths.

alltheworld · 28/12/2015 22:15

Why hasn't episode three gone on iplayer yet?

Shutthatdoor · 28/12/2015 22:16

I knew it even though I kept changing my mind.

Twitterqueen · 28/12/2015 22:17

I didn't like it. Xmas Hmm

Shutthatdoor · 28/12/2015 22:17

Why hasn't episode three gone on iplayer yet?

Literally just finished Wink

BoGrainger · 28/12/2015 22:18

Charles Dance was perfect as the judge though. Just as I'd always imagined him.

Baressentials · 28/12/2015 22:19

I thought the point was that Edward Seaton was innocent so the judge was guilty of murder too? Am I remembering the book wrong? I need to reread it.

level3at6months · 28/12/2015 22:20

So good! Read it years ago but couldn't remember what happened, though I thought It was him. Great atmosphere, liked it much more than I'd expected.

ThornyBird · 28/12/2015 22:23

Without having ever read the book I thoroughly enjoyed that and thought it was excellent! Will be getting it to read on the kindle for when I've finished all the Poldarks Grin

TheMasterMurderedMargarita · 28/12/2015 22:24

I've read lots of AC but managed to miss this one somehow.
It's on my list now.
One of my favourite films is Death on the Nile with Mia Farrow as it's so camp and fluffy but I really enjoyed this. It was very different to the usual adaptations.

BingoBonkers · 28/12/2015 22:24

Equally addictive and terrifying at the same time!

BoGrainger · 28/12/2015 22:24

Yes, there was something different about the judge and his 'crime' but I can't remember the details either.

Baressentials · 28/12/2015 22:27

Yes I am sure that that the Judge condemned an innocent man to death so he saw himself as needing to punish himself too along with the others. Did he choose to murder them in that order for a reason? I need to dig out the book.

Would love to see more AC adaptations done in a similar way.

DSClarke · 28/12/2015 22:31

No the judge knew that Seaton was guilty. He said that threat would be the clue if anyone tried to work it out, as all of the others were guilty of murder but he was not.

Baressentials · 28/12/2015 22:34

Ah so he was the only 'innocent one' iyswim?

Glad I didn;t let my 10yr old watch it - definitely not suitable for her. I thought it was superb though. So different to other adaptations.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 28/12/2015 22:36

That was so so good haven't watched something so scary for sometime

I guessed it was him he gave us a clue and repeated this

What an evil thing to do to that poor little boy very convincing

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/12/2015 22:40

Just retrieved my copy. Yes, Edward Seton was guilty.

BoGrainger · 28/12/2015 22:41

I missed the clue. What did the judge say that gave it away?

DSClarke · 28/12/2015 22:41

In the book the judge also says that the ones who were left until last were guilty of the worst crimes so he wanted to put them through more hell. Apart form Marston. He did not have he mental capacity to suffer so he bumped him off first. But Mrs R was probably under the fish from her husband so he gave her an early and 'easy' death.

DSClarke · 28/12/2015 22:42

Sorry, under the cosh, not fish!

Baressentials · 28/12/2015 22:44

I really want to read the book again. So much that I had forgotten.
Didn't he admit his crimes by putting a suicide note in a bottle and it goign into the sea or is my memory really crap?

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 28/12/2015 22:47

Justice comes to is all (or was it to those who are guilty)

And I guessed he was living up to his given name
