...but how will we cope without Martin? Without his warmth and humour won't it be a bit bleak?

OP posts:

I think someone mentioned earlier that Hans' ex wife didn't come across well....could she have known about the given up child or is my imagination running away with me

MadFestiveGnome · 18/12/2015 09:14

Hans' ex-wife was awful, and she didn't need to be introduced on-screen for plot reasons.

I think Hans' reason for being involved is tied to his first family.

Besom · 18/12/2015 09:42

Mad, you could be right about the watch - I noticed on rewatching that not long after we first see Freddie we see him coming in to his house and putting his watch in the bowl. There is a shot of the bowl with watch in it.

I feel like I need to set up a white board in my living room. Roll on Saturday!

Hangingbasket14 · 18/12/2015 09:47

Mad, yes I think the speech and the 'look' he gave whilst he was doing it indicated that he was referring to something specific. I might get the DC's art easel out and start a mind map!

Tirfarthoin · 18/12/2015 10:22

Anyone else think the bike shop repair person/stolen goods buying crook was a woman?
And how did the gunman track down the laptop to the bike shop faster than the police, was that just using their own 'find my laptop' software?

Hangingbasket14 · 18/12/2015 10:43

Tirfarthoin, it was a woman and yes they used find my iPad.

Besom · 18/12/2015 10:48

I definitely thought she was a woman Tir, an androgynous one, but it didn't even occur to me that she might be anything else. They were on about the gender neutral thing in the first episode though and with Saga using 'hen' for the killer instead of he. That might have been to lead towards it being a woman but I did also wonder if the gender neutral theme would appear again. Has someone changed gender or something? I can't think how that would tie in though so giving up on that...

BoreOfWhabylon · 18/12/2015 10:56

I have no idea who the murderer is or how all the plot lines will come together (I think there will prove to be a lot of red herrings).

But I do think Linn will turn out to be a goodie. She will eventually realise that Saga's mother killed herself and tried to frame Saga. I think Linn is like Saga in that she does things 'by the book' and will come to understand and value Saga.

Am fascinated by how the Danes pronounce 'Copenhagen' - they seem to swallow the word. Love how Danish and Swedish sound almost like English, ie not alien, just not quite intelligible. I suppose it's because English was a Scandinavian language until the Normans invaded and confused things (although they were Viking descendants too, before they became Frenchified).

Besom · 18/12/2015 11:00

A lot of it sounds very Scots too. Braw/bra for instance and especially when they are swearing!

BoreOfWhabylon · 18/12/2015 11:26

Yes, I noticed that too!

And both Danish and Swedish for 'why' sounds like 'wherefor', which means 'for what reason' (not 'where' as some think).

Love this stuff!

Piffpaffpoff · 18/12/2015 11:32

Besom we enjoy the fact that the police have POLIS on the back of their coats too!

Allofaflumble · 18/12/2015 11:53

I immediately thought if Taggart with The Polis. I loved that series too!

Tirfarthoin · 18/12/2015 12:48

These people are far cooler in the head than me, if I lose my iPad I flap for at leas half an hour before remembering I even have find my iPad never mind how to use the app.
It wouldn't surprise me if Freddie started out having nothing to do with it but when it was brought to his attention he made it his business to find them. He is a control freak so he would need to know. Do think the theory about his abandoned child from his misspent youth seem very plausible.

Hissy · 18/12/2015 13:40

Wherefore art thou Romeo means WHY not where, this is where english originally hails from (coming from Angles and Danes originally before getting mashed up with french and latin)

i wondered on the Freddie watch thing, but thought it was the shopkeeper conning the idiot Marc.

Do we know Freddie's background? we know he was poor - did he mention his mother growing up - in his speech at the announcement of his gallery donation? I agree there may be more from him... i genuinely can't see how this one will end.. they have a lot to do before episode 10. I would suggest a live finale thread, but we all know we can't do anything besides read the subtitles...

i don't get where Hans' exwife behaved badly? she is the mother to his sons, if anything the new wife was the bitch first, by telling her that she could not visit Hans while she was there.

Hissy · 18/12/2015 13:44

Tirfarthoin meant to apologise for seemingly taking the mick about your spelling Finnish!

I was joking and didn't think, I assumed it was an autocorrect thing!

I do hope you were not upset by my trying to be a smart arse. Flowers

Hangingbasket14 · 18/12/2015 13:51

Hissy, his ex switched off the life support without Lillian brig there (I think). She was also pretty awful in an earlier episode when she was in the police station.

HermioneWeasley · 18/12/2015 14:30

The radio times review of the last 2 episodes says "saga will break your heart". I'm not sure I can cope with that. If it doesn't end with her being fully vindicated and the awful Linn eating humble pie, I am going to table flip!

Besom · 18/12/2015 14:54

Oh no Hermione. There are various ways her heart can be broken I suppose. She's falling for Henrik or if she finds out something dodgy about Hans. Or her parents were in fact innocent. Or she ends up in the clink like Martin. Surely that won't happen.

When Linn first saw rasmus she looked overly smiley and fond of him. Does not bode well.

In Freddis speech he said something about his parents having no money but they took him to art galleries because it was free.

Tirfarthoin · 18/12/2015 16:02

No need to apologise Hissy. I can spend a happy half hour wondering how to spell "spoon". I have very thick skin when it comes to my spelling and grammar. Autocorrect is both a blessing and a curse.

Tirfarthoin · 18/12/2015 16:03

I can only watch Bridge because we have pause and rewind on the TV

Hangingbasket14 · 18/12/2015 16:11

Ok another thought, if it is Emil could he be Freddie's brother rather than son, and was given up by his parents as a baby (or am I overthinking this)

Stuffofawesome · 18/12/2015 16:46

Re watching episode 6. Emily hears description of murders from press conference on TV and seems to twig then they relate to artworks then goes into gallery to look. Presented as though he has just found out and interpreted info rather than he has done it.

Stuffofawesome · 18/12/2015 16:46

Emil

BoreOfWhabylon · 18/12/2015 16:50

Wherefore art thou Romeo means WHY not where, this is where english originally hails from (coming from Angles and Danes originally before getting mashed up with french and latin)

Yes Hissy, that's the point I was trying to make.

Besom · 18/12/2015 16:54

Yes it's that light bulb m ok moment that would seem to rule Emil out. I can't get past that either. But if it is Anneka and only her who is the 'brother' who killed Morton?
