I've enjoyed watching this programme and was impressed with last nights family - they did so well especially Dotti.

I knew bread contained sugar and as I low carb, I avoid bread but.... wasn't it shocking how much wholemeal bread affects your blood sugar levels? 2 slices raises your blood sugars more than a snickers bar!?! Wow! My teen is terrible at eating tons of bread..... just thinking how I can persuade him to stop!

daisy is he unhealthy? I assumed the snickers bar was better because of the peanuts so the protein would calm down the glycaemic index. wondered if granary or seeded bread would do the same.

I guess the peanuts/protein do outweigh the amount of sugar but I'd focused on the sugar comment. DS1? No, he's active and I make sure he gets at least 5 a day (more if I can squeeze it in). I only buy granary or seeded breads as that is what he and dh prefer but he eats so much carb heavy food.. it's one of those teen things I guess and ... it's the easy option! We are very carb focused as a nation don't you think? I eat Paleo/low carb plus DM has coeliacs so I really notice how much breads, pasta and potato based products are the main options for many food places..
