She works in a nursery - he told her to wash her hands

ImperialBlether · 19/11/2015 22:10

Oh okay. Grin

Funny that hadn't occurred to her before!

Missed last week forgot it was on, watching this weeks. Back pain is one of my problems. I get why he's desperate to treat the pain. I hate taking painkillers though as I'm prone to the worst of the side effects. Therefore only take what I'm told as the maximum.

I do think there's a problem with people thinking you can't be addicted to something that's prescribed. Elvis thought that!

lastqueenofscotland · 26/11/2015 21:19

This is interesting to me as in a complete exercise addict.

irie · 26/11/2015 21:52

The doctor is so sweet with the little boy!

lastqueenofscotland · 26/11/2015 21:52

I really like this family as a whole actually.

Baconyum · 26/11/2015 21:54

I agree irie he was soooo sweet with the teddy bear!

HairsprayQueen · 27/11/2015 11:23

Aw that little boy when he sipped the milk and looked to see if his eczema was gone!

I thought the dad was going to smack the doctor at one point. I really like the GP, I wish he'd come to my house and sort us all out!

Missushb · 27/11/2015 14:19

I liked this. The doctor is lovely. Easy on the eye! Wink

I found back pain guy a bit..I dunno..intense? Kind of hyped-up all the time? He seemed like he was on the point of exploding all the time to me. I felt like I was kind of intruding, especially when he was talking about his childhood.

He seemed much calmer at the end.

rivierliedje · 27/11/2015 21:58

Do GP's really wear gloves to take blood in the UK then? Totally besides the point of the show, but am intrigued.
I agree back pain guy is pretty intense.

Baconyum · 28/11/2015 07:45

Lots of blood borne diseases drs and patients need protecting from some are even present in sweat and skin so if they're creating an open wound yea gloves why not?

rivierliedje · 28/11/2015 13:03

Oh, I know there are lots of diseases in blood and sweat etc Bacon, I am a GP. But it just isn't done here (not in the uk). I don't wear gloves for touching any other part of the patiënt (except internal exams), why would I suddenly put them on to hold a needle. Though I did notice he used a different system then we do, which maybe heightens the chance of actually coming in to contact with blood?

Baconyum · 28/11/2015 14:45

Where are you? What system do you use? Ex nurse (UK) so curious

rivierliedje · 28/11/2015 16:42

A vacuum system. So there's no syringe as such, you just click the needle in to a holder before finding the vein. Then click in the tubes and they fill themselves. We only revert to the other system if the veins are tiny (the vacuum can be too strong).
I'm in Belgium.

HairsprayQueen · 28/11/2015 17:45

We have those vacuum vials here too, most blood tests I've had have been started with them for probably at least the last 10 years (but I do have crap veins and need a syringe every time!)

Baconyum · 28/11/2015 18:53

But there's still a needle and therefore a puncture. So therefore still direct exposure for patient and medic.

8 mins in and the takeaway floored me!!

SwedishEdith · 03/12/2015 21:35

Missed the beginning of this but am interested in the breast cancer testing now. We have the gene in my family but, my understanding is that you need a direct relative with cancer to be eligible for testing.

wideboy26 · 03/12/2015 21:40

How scary to think that families eat like this. The size of the woman and it comes as a surprise to her that she's eating the wrong food.

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 03/12/2015 21:43

I love Dr Rongan this show Grin

Carriemac · 03/12/2015 21:53

I love that doctor .he s so kind and positive

knowler · 03/12/2015 22:01

I'm glad they seem to have kept it up - I started watching being v judgemental thinking they'd never bother changing and I think they did really well. 5 stone weight loss is impressive.

lastqueenofscotland · 03/12/2015 22:16

I quite liked dotti wasn't too keen on the guy. Impressed how well they did.

Baconyum · 04/12/2015 00:09

Such a sad episode. That poor family so many losses.

I know a family that eats like this. The mum won't cook so they live on takeaways and ready meals. Her eldest is very overweight and youngest headed that way. She's slim so thinks there's nothing wrong with it.

It's partly attitude but also she's a LP working long hours/shifts which can't be easy. But also she lacks confidence cooking. Her mum's not a great cook and when she was at school (different generation to me) what would have been cookery classes were 'food tech' and focussed more on sodding advertising. Imho we need proper cookery classes back in schools!
