I think the chair thing is daft, and not nearly evil enough. But until they add shark infested waters, or a shepherd's crook, it's the best we have.

In fact actual musical chairs would be more fun.Grin

See y'all later.

BedTimeNow- ''Unfortunately I felt that acts were not judged based on their singing talent-which is kinda sad''- her words.

The80sweregreat · 04/10/2015 20:59

Earrings at dawn.
Bye all. The chair thing is pure tedium.
Havva good week!

Night all

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 04/10/2015 21:03

Acts won't be judged just on their singing voice. It's the X factor, not The Voice. Jamel didn't have any X factor. No star quality and wouldn't have become a pop star of any sort. They want a recording artist who will make Simon Cowell money.

That ginger Irish bloke this year will be another Jamel. Good singer but no star quality. Doesn't matter what the skin colour is.

Awholelottanosy · 04/10/2015 21:04

I don't think I can cope with 3 more weeks of this, get too emotionally invested, it's gonna give me a nervous breakdown!

Anyway, see y'all next week...Smile

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 04/10/2015 21:43

If we have three more weeks of this, then two weeks of boot camp it will be mid Nov before the live shows start.

I thought they aimed for the winner having a xmas No 1?

Rivercam · 04/10/2015 21:50

Didn't like Amazing Grace and thought she was off-key for a lot of it.

I liked the 17 year old and couldn't believe she lost her chair.

I liked the blond girl who sat in chair no2 (also 17?)

I knew before she had opened her mouth that the young mum wouldn't get a seat, and it was confirmed when Simon mentioned her child.

Liked the girl in chair no1.

Lauren was okay, bit overrated, and could have made more effort with her outfit.

Madea · 04/10/2015 22:07

WhoTheFuckIsSimon- where is last year's winner and the year before that, and the year before that?- compare to Rebecca Ferguson, Alexandra Burke, Leona Lewis, JLS, Marcus Collins and now Fleur is being launched as a Brand- (clothes and music)- do the math.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 04/10/2015 22:20

Marcus who?
Fleur hasn't had any chart hits that I can think of. But then she didn't actually win it did she?
Can't think of the last time Rebecca Ferguson (id totally forgotten her) or Leona Lewis had hits.
JLS have split up but I guess we're the most successful out of that lot. Totally eclipsed by One Direction though.

And it's the same for other winners such as Ben last year.

Like I say, doesn't come down to race. X factor are looking for an act with the X factor. I'm not saying they've found it. I don't think they have. Anyone who wins is soon forgotten about.

One Direction are really the only big success story and again they weren't winners. Next in line is probably Little Mix.....did they win? Can't remember? It looks like One Direction's days are numbered but guess they've had a good run.

Roussette · 05/10/2015 07:32

rebecca Ferguson has just bought out a new album "Lady sings the blues"... I've heard some tracks from it and it's very good.

Coudn't stand Fleur last year - ripping off Uptown Funk badly doesn't make you a star. She hasn't bought out a record yet. Sounds like she's cutting out that bit and going straight to the clothing line!

Love Leona Lewis, think she makes music in America. Some of these are runner ups, I don't think you have to win to fail!

The80sweregreat · 05/10/2015 09:42

Agree, most of the ones with success haven't been the winners.
I liked Rebecca Ferguson, last saw her on a quiz show the other Saturday falling through a trap door!
When it first started ( pop idol etc) the judges really seemed to care about their prodigies. Now they are there for the money and more exposure in my opinion.
Leona started the extreme poo squat singing!!

LineyReborn · 05/10/2015 09:46

Little Mix won and Fleur was a shock runner-up. Well she was shocked, you could see the pierced arrogance on her face.

macnab · 05/10/2015 10:00

Good God that was tedious. I really thought there was going to be two categories last night since it hadn't been on the night before. I was so glad to have this thread confirming my unspoken disgust - had to be unspoken since DH was beside me on the sofa and if he'd heard me whinging he'd have been all "what the hell are you watching it for?" I hate it, but I'm totally addicted Blush

Why are they all so LOUD now? Can nobody just come on and sing a song, you know with a nice tune and a harmony, without piercing my eardrums or shattering glass. Its like a competition to see who has the most powerful lungs Confused I do think some of them are pretty good singers, its just that they seem to favour the shouty warbly poo-squatty belters over 'normal' songs.

I'm not sure about Monica ("Gypsy Rose" Grin), she can sing but she's just so fierce looking. She belongs in a tent at the circus, with a bandana and a crystal ball. I'm dying to see what makeup/wardrobe will do with her for the shows though!

I was so glad Rita swapped that one with all the hair that works in Boots and wore a dress that was see-through from the hips down Hmm - now she WAS scary.

It was all so drawn out, and even now this lot aren't all going to the live shows, we still have the judges houses to endure watch

thunderbird69 · 05/10/2015 10:51

I haven't watched the show for a few years and so haven't seen this debacle before. I think for the next few weeks I'll just tune in for the last few minutes to see which have got through to the judge's houses.

macnab - agree with you on the shouty/warbly singing. They were all so samey (mockney being the exception). None were memorable (other than for their odd attire/hair). I was also hoping she would swap see-through dress woman - very harsh look on her face the whole time.

The80sweregreat · 05/10/2015 11:04

Simon once said in an interview that his all time favourite singer is Bobby Darin ( old school, mack the knife type songs) I listened to a few on spotify , straight forwards singer in the mould of Nat King Cole, who was fabulous. I think that a lot of these on here go to stage school where they are taught to sing these overblown, Beyoncé type numbers? I really don't know, but they all did sound the same. I am not sure what they are looking for anymore - I usually end up preferring the men singers anyway.

LineyReborn · 05/10/2015 11:38

I'm in the hate-it-but-addicted category, too, I suspect.

Madea · 05/10/2015 12:29

WhoTheFuckIsSimon- your answer says it all really!! Thank you.

Rivercam · 05/10/2015 13:00

Hi actually bought Marcus Collins cd when it came out and quite like it. He was touring last year. Also bought Journey South 's cd many moons ago ( and still listen to it!).

Leona I thought was a good singer, but was a puppet. She only seem to appear on big occasions. Eg the Olympics, and then seem to disappear for several months/years.

Matt Cardle seems to have survived. Saw him in Memphis in London during the summer. He was superb - go and see it! He has a great voice

axtually have to confess that I quite like the Little Mix songs. Whoever is choosing their records and producing them is doing a good job. Always thought the 1D boys could sing okay, and I thought Harry Styles should have gone through to the live rivals as a solo singer,

Can't believe I.m id suing the X factor contestants in so much detail [shame]

BitOfFun · 05/10/2015 13:42

I saw Marcus quite recently- he must have been visiting home. He used to live near me.

The80sweregreat · 05/10/2015 13:47

I agree with Rivercam about Little mix, when their new one comes on the radio I end up humming it. they do catchy numbers. I did buya James Arthur CD, played once and that's it. shame he became so cocky and horrible.
.. totally off point, but there is a song called ' I wasn't expecting that' with a male singer who is on Ed Sheering's label. Its so sad, I haven't really listened properly to the lyrics before now , but was in tears in Asda car park today.
