Sorry if I make mistakes in typing, but cannot see through my tears. What happened to light-hearted comedy?! The shocking bit is that it is all 100% believable and logical based on the characters' actions so far... Obviously for Father Jude, but the fate of the scientists made me cry.

mrsmilktray It was the Vatican. They did not want him to reveal the prevailing hypocrisy. Remember that look the Cardinal gave to the smarmy priest? It was exactly the same look what Scotty's boyfriend wore when he commenced operation Shanghai. The actions of the Vatican and the US government meant to show us just how far people would go to preserve social order.

Do you think General Gaines will snap out of it now that there is nothing to gain from being a tough and loyal soldier? Maybe he will bust Rhonda out and gets them all to Slough for some reason? What was in the General hands in the opening sequence? He looked threatening.

Will the Vatican try to get hold of Giraffe Girl now that they think she is a viable Messiah?

Why would he do that?

I thought that until it same to me in a blinding flash that it was actually murder by that Vatican committee he met with.

I am unbelievably gutted over the ending last night. Definitely the actions of the Vatican committee. You saw the door opening and him start to smile, so he had a visitor.

The vatican of course. Poor Jude That was so shocking and unexpected.

Do you think that they actually shot the scientists then? I thought they would just lock them up for a week.

mrsmilktray I thought they were shot, but that may be an extremely dim view of humanity.

They didn't make it clear what happened to the scientists did they? Just showed the armed soldiers and then an empty paper strewn room. Which makes me think they've not killed them as they've not shied away from showing other stuff (like Ariel shooting his sidekick in the head).

I can't get over poor Jude. ds2 was really upset for him. I hope Celine doesn't blame herself.

Oh my god just caught up, genuinely didn't see that coming!!! Devastated. I love Celine, actually felt a bit heartbroken for her. quietly sobs in corner
However agree with whoever commented on the convent party. That was excellent.

Thinking about it, Jude isn't shown in the bunker is he? Also, Celine is dressed as a nun there so there were clues that it wasn't going to be a happy ending for them. :(

Could Jude be the Messiah, he's just been sacrificed, will he rise again?

Jamie/Ariel play out more as Cane & Abel rather than Jamie being the Messiah.
