Starting now on watch!

OP posts:
SoMuchToBits · 05/11/2015 21:41

Georgia cries but is good. Ashleigh cries but isn't so good. I think Jessica has a real chance, because she seems to understand flavours, and is also quite good at plating. I like Reynold, but fear he may mostly be good at desserts, and may not do so well with savoury stuff.

I don't think Rose is that good, nor Jacqui, despite her recent panna cotta success. John seems to be learning not to overcomplicate stuff.

PurpleHairAndPearls · 05/11/2015 21:52

Georgia is good at desserts, I shall allow her that.

Is Jessica the one with the black hair (she is called Mrs Minion in our house as we felt she looked like the minion wearing a wigBlush but we like her) she is good

John has certainly improved. I also like the English bloke (I am terrible at remembering names) who always seems a little over excited. Reynold is definitely my favourite. I loved when they showed them waking up in the house and his hair looked exactly the same, as though he had styled it in the night Grin

Must go to bed

SoMuchToBits · 05/11/2015 22:03

Yes, Jessica is the one with black hair, who very nearly won the immunity pin. The English bloke is Stephen.

PurpleHairAndPearls · 06/11/2015 07:33

Thank you somuch you have a better memory than me :) it was such a shame she didn't win the pin, I really felt for her.

SoMuchToBits · 06/11/2015 07:47

Yes, shame she didn't win the pin, but I think she will have gained a lot of confidence from having done so well.

I'm wondering where some of the other chefs are this year who have been associated with MC Aus in previous years - like Matt Moran? I'm also wondering where the contestants will go for their trip abroad this year.

I loved favourites week, it was great seeing some of the previous contestants again. Interestingly, a friend who lives in Australia but was visiting the UK last year said that you never hear much about Julie (who won series 1) over there, but Poh is on the tv a lot. It seems that a lot of contestants who didn't win have still done very well from having taken part.

Davros · 06/11/2015 21:46

Thought we were the only ones still watching. We still hate Rise and her honky voice, Ashleigh needs to grow a pair and Jacqui was nice but talentless. I think Jessica has emerged as a contender.

FreeButtonBee · 06/11/2015 22:05

I like Jessica, Jamie is growing on me )mainly because he is the only eye candy!), Sara annoys me but she is smart. Georgia annoys me with her wide eye "oh, is it good?" Schtick. Matthew is a bit of a dark horse - loved the polenta dramarama! Some of them really need to work on their poker face though as I can always tell from the intros who is in real trouble.

FreeButtonBee · 06/11/2015 22:07

Oh god, and Rose. Just lose already. Annoying when better people get kicked out and she clings on...

Plomino · 07/11/2015 00:02

Rose is like the this seasons Sam! Has there been an elimination she hasn't been in yet ? Although I am behind a bit .

SoMuchToBits · 07/11/2015 00:14

That was ok this evening. Don't mind Jacqui going, as she didn't seem consistently good.

I can't think Rose will stay in for much longer though...

PseudoBadger · 07/11/2015 07:49

Ashleigh is talking herself out of the competition.

LIZS · 07/11/2015 10:06

Does Ashleigh ever smile? She looks as if she is in a world of pain the whole time. Jackie's departure seemed unfair as she got so close in first round, whereas the others struggled.

Sunnymeg · 07/11/2015 14:49

Matt Moran did a cooking series for a rival Australian channel that was shown earlier in the year on UK 'Home and Health' . I presume that is why he is no longer involved. I thought Nick Holloway who Jessica cooked against was a natural for TV and I hope we see him again. I think it is good to see some new chefs and presume that the likes of Darren Purchase and Peter Gilmore will appear towards the end of the competition.

We like Matthew, Billie, Reynard, Jessie and Mrs Minion.

SoMuchToBits · 07/11/2015 18:55

Ah, thanks for that, sunnymeg. I did wonder about Matt Moran. I also really liked Nick Holloway - I hope he'll become a regular.

SoMuchToBits · 12/11/2015 00:05

Ok, what are you all thinking about Power Apron week? This is a new one for me, think it might have been introduced last year, when I didn't watch MC Aus (the only year I've missed it!).

PseudoBadger · 15/11/2015 21:01

It was new last year, but I seem to remember it was slightly different. I don't think it added much TBH. Thank goodness John has gone. Just Rose to go now and the world will be right.

Davros · 15/11/2015 21:25

Agreed about John and Rose.
I went to one of Bill Granger's restaurants last week and I thought it was shite!

SoMuchToBits · 15/11/2015 21:38

I'm pleased John has gone too. I definitely thought it was his fault that his team lost the challenge. He never seemed to listen to anyone else, nor to learn from his mistakes (overcomplicating everything).

I don't think Rose is that great either, but at least she seems willing to learn.

I think Jessica, Sara, Georgia and Reynold are all good, and I have a bit of a soft spot for Matthew. I was totally impressed by Georgia when she recovered so well from setting her stuff on fire!

PridePrejudice · 22/11/2015 09:36

I'm glad John went too as the loss on the group challenge was all his fault.
I'm tipping Georgia, Jess and Jessica as my contenders for the title.

PurpleHairAndPearls · 22/11/2015 10:30

After the pie challenge, I think Sara should have gone but the judges seem to like her and Georgia and they get away with a lot, IMO. I have no idea how Rose has got this far!

I really like Reynold and would love him to win, but my money is on Jess or Billie. DH thinks Mrs Minion will win and DC are betting on Reynold.

I'm probably going to sound really sad now Blushbut when the number of contestants reduces to the same number of people in our family, we do a sweepstake - write all the contestants names down and pick them out of a hat, all put a pound in and winner takes all.

God we are sad Grin

PridePrejudice · 22/11/2015 10:44

Rose has got to go next! She's an utter disaster nearly all the time and then somehow always pulls it off in the elimination

PurpleHairAndPearls · 22/11/2015 10:55

And Rose always simpers I'm going to play on my heritage" whilst cooking something ineptly yet being safe because she throws loads of spice in...

FUCK OFF

SoMuchToBits · 22/11/2015 17:20

I thought it was quite funny that they went through all that pie challenge, then got all the eliminated contestants to cook against each other, then got Stephen to cook against Jessie, only to end up with...

exactly the same contestants they started the programme with! Grin

I agree Rose should be next to go though.

I think my favourites are Jessica, Georgia, Billie and Reynold at the moment. I also really like Matthew as a person, but not sure he is good enough to win

Bombaybunty · 22/11/2015 17:42

Please could Sara go soon? There's something about her that irritates me so much!

I think Georgia might be the winner.

PseudoBadger · 23/11/2015 22:43

Rose showed why she's so annoying tonight! From highs to lows...
