Following on from the first thread (we were getting a bit short on space!).

Pastry week next - it's time for the dreaded soggy bottoms!

OP posts:

Even Mary's snivelling Grin

GrouchyKiwi · 07/10/2015 20:58

Mary crying too!

Raahh · 07/10/2015 21:00

Tamal works at my local hospital.

I might just pop in. Dd1 is very keen! Grin

Creatureofthenight · 07/10/2015 21:01

Phew, that was a bit emotional

TheSpottedZebra · 07/10/2015 21:01

2for1 Rah. If you befriend him, you might eventually befriend Nadiya too!

LOVE that Ian made a bay cake for the Dalai Lama!

GrouchyKiwi · 07/10/2015 21:01

And Nadiya's husband at the end. I don't think I've ever been so emotional at the end of Bake Off before.

I am sad there's such a long time before the next series.

TheSpottedZebra · 07/10/2015 21:02

Oh, ffs. Bday cake.
Which may or may not have had bay leaf in it.

SoupDragon · 07/10/2015 21:02

Ian's is the only one that really fits the 'classic British cake' brief though

Why isn't lemon drizzle a classic British cake?

Obs2015 · 07/10/2015 21:02

All the cakes looked messy, for final's. I've seen better showstoppers in the last few weeks.
Mary crying.
Not surprising result.

CrotchetQuaverMinim · 07/10/2015 21:03

yes so many tears from everyone!

I guess the next one won't start til next August? boo

CrotchetQuaverMinim · 07/10/2015 21:04

yes I guess lemon drizzle is classic too, had kind of forgotten what it was originally based on underneath all the decorations.

fuzzywuzzy · 07/10/2015 21:04

I make marshmallow icing as I don't like marzipan, I get halal marshmallows.

Loved loved the reaction of everyone thought Nadiyas cakes were gorgeous and loved Ian's cake as well, really creative with the carrot cascading down all the cakes.

Mary Berrys reaction pushed me over the edge, I cried too.

Raahh · 07/10/2015 21:05

Ooh, Zebra- I might! Grin

GrouchyKiwi · 07/10/2015 21:08

Apparently (according to twitter) Ian is the Dalai Lama's official photographer!

SoupDragon · 07/10/2015 21:09

I do love Bake Off, it's such a friendly competition.

The Sewing Bee is the same in that respect.

GrouchyKiwi · 07/10/2015 21:10

Per the BBC: Ian, 41, from Cambridgeshire is a renowned travel photographer and the Dalai Lama's personal photographer when he is in the UK.

So I guess that's how he got to make him a birthday cake.

GrouchyKiwi · 07/10/2015 21:11

Is the Sewing Bee good to watch? I've been on the fence about it for ages.

Raahh · 07/10/2015 21:12

Soup Sewing Bee is fab- I can neither bake, nor sew, but I love the way the shows are made.

PicnicPie · 07/10/2015 21:12

Yaaay Nadia! Well deserved winner.

I loved the final. Loved all the little jokes. So sad it's over.

Kampeki · 07/10/2015 21:13

So glad that Nadiya won! I think she deserved it, and her family's reaction was fab!

Loved seeing Tamal with her kids, too. He is lovely, glad he got good feedback on his weird and wonderful showstopper!

ppeatfruit · 07/10/2015 21:16

YES !!!!!! she really deserved to win!!!!!!!! I knew it when they were on the One Show yesterday she had happy eyes!!!!!!

I choked up with Mary too Grin fuzzywuzzy

CrotchetQuaverMinim · 07/10/2015 21:19

I don't know how they keep it a secret! I hadn't realised there was a tea party with everyone afterwards. I can see the adults involved being sworn to secrecy, but all the children, families, crew, everyone?! No wonder there are betting scandals. I'm amazed they manage it at all.

BigRedBall · 07/10/2015 21:22

Yaaaaayyyyy!!! I was crying at the end! It was like when Joanne won. She was unsure of her strengths too. I'm so happy for Nadia Grin!!

SoupDragon · 07/10/2015 21:44

I loved the way Mr Nadyia was proud of her and said it was the first time she had gone off and done something for her

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 07/10/2015 21:45

I cried too! I loved when Nadiya was just completely speechless, pointing at the Winner's Cake Stand and pointing at herself. Such a lovely woman. Lovely family.

Very emotional final, I am often a sentimental old fool so I loved it.
