Following on from the first thread (we were getting a bit short on space!).

Pastry week next - it's time for the dreaded soggy bottoms!

Sarah Millican did mention Jo Brand, right at the beginning. I expect she was just unwell.

Oh darn smarttv wasn't so smart it couldn't record ES was it worth watching? with Sarah Millican ??? Who were the guests?

InimitableJeeves · 27/09/2015 09:24

You can catch up with ES on iPlayer. Guests were Greg Wallace and two other people I hadn't heard of, but it was more or less up to the usual standards.

ppeatfruit · 27/09/2015 10:07

Thanks Inimitable Grin

toldmywrath · 28/09/2015 12:56

I watched ES as it was repeated last evening. It was boring (&the first time DH has seen it-he's out on Fridays)

In other news my DS bumped into Prison Paul at a railway station last Monday & took a selfie with him. DS didn't tell me til after the show that he'd seen him & knew he'd gone out. Shock

riverboat1 · 28/09/2015 13:09

Very late newcomer to the thread, but longtime bake off fan.

Agree this year's isn't quite as good somehow, there have been less funny moments I think. The contestants are all very nice but collectively don't have as good a sense of humour /knack for witticisms as in previoys years.

I love Nadoya though and hope she wins, even though her Star Baker status last week was a bit dodgy. I have also developed a fondness for Tamal.

Looking forward to seeing what this staggered start time challenge is all about...

OnlyLovers · 28/09/2015 13:11

At least the tennis cake was meant to be old-fashioned; it was in the Victorian week.

I hate the enormous constructions like the nun buns and croque em bouche. It seems rather obscene the amount of food they produce.

I love Nadiya and Tamal. Want one of them to win, not pasty dull and smug Ian.

ppeatfruit · 28/09/2015 13:37

Don't worry about waste though OnlyLovers the film crew descend like gannets at the end of each show Grin

I'm enjoying this show, riverboat The main difference IMO is that they are all quite well matched and of a high standard. It's down to minor details mostly!

BitOutOfPractice · 28/09/2015 13:53

I think Flora will go next week

And I agree Sarah Millican on the ES Angry god her accent is gorgeous but her voice itself is so shrill and grating. Bring back JB

ppeatfruit · 28/09/2015 13:58

Yes I've seen it now, it was repeated yesterday. I kept thinking is SM's voice really as high as that? It sounds unnatural, she's sweet though.

I wasn't sure about "Cherish"? Either A bit odd.

emotionsecho · 28/09/2015 14:06

ppeatfruit the mortification I would feel if mine was the only bake the crew steered clear of - I wonder if that has ever happenedGrin.

Nadiya is the one I would like to win, if not her then Tamal. I will be most unhappy if Ian wins.

OnlyLovers · 28/09/2015 14:45

ppeat, I do hope so!

ppeatfruit · 29/09/2015 13:27

Dh, dd1, dd2 are in and have been in the biz and i've been on some shoots where the crew eat like locusts which no doubt would happen on GGBO!

Roussette · 30/09/2015 16:22

Looking forward to tonight, not sure on the theme?

ppeatfruit · 30/09/2015 16:36

OOOOOH yes yes it's CHOCOLATE !!!!! Cake Cake Yaaay!!!! Grin Grin

PerspicaciaTick · 30/09/2015 16:42

I'm not convinced about the chocolate. So far this series has been lots of faintly ugly, unappetising lumps. Do you think they'll find a way to ruin chocolate too?

gonegrey56 · 30/09/2015 16:48

Hot chocolate soufflé tonight do you think? That would explain the staggered start times ....

OnlyLovers · 30/09/2015 16:56

I read something in the previews hinting at innuendo surrounding the showstopper; I've a feeling it's going to involve making some sort of... column.

ppeatfruit · 30/09/2015 16:56

Yes it said on Chris Evans this morning 3 different types of chocolate patis. one of which is a souffle' Yum.

SheHasAWildHeart · 30/09/2015 18:09

One of the few programmes I watch, and probably one of the few shows that has a diverse range of semi-finalists all representing the diversity of the UK. Muslim, married mum and a single, gay Hindu doctor, and a very middle-class young girl and a slightly eccentric middle-aged man! Lots of gender, age, nationality and sexualities represented. Love GBBO!

CakeNinja · 30/09/2015 19:29

TAMAL IS GAY???

ppeatfruit · 30/09/2015 19:37

Aawww poor Cake Sad cheer up it's chocolate tonigh!!,I've got me bar of dark mint choc ready.

CakeNinja · 30/09/2015 19:53

Is it really true? Sad
I'm so sad! I was all set to give dp the elbow and hunt tamal down. Think I'll give it a miss if he doesn't fancy feeling my buns Sad

The80sweregreat · 30/09/2015 19:54

I was sad too about Tamal. He is the best looking man on TV just now!
