Following on from the first thread (we were getting a bit short on space!).

Pastry week next - it's time for the dreaded soggy bottoms!

A lady's finger chopper?

Seriously?

olbas · 16/09/2015 22:34

Gutted Mat has gone, he reminded me of Fido Dido. Love Tamal though. If I made a Charlotte rouse I would do it with packet jelly, angel delight and brought sponge fingers!

InimitableJeeves · 16/09/2015 22:49

I really couldn't see the point of Ian's crown. If you were eating that Charlotte Russe, would you seriously feel that it added anything whatsoever?

PerspicaciaTick · 16/09/2015 23:47

Ian's crown reminded me of the disastrous crown dessert the woman made for the Coronation Party on Back in Time for Dinner. At least Ian's was well engineered.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 17/09/2015 00:00

I thought it was too thick and clonky

Fab photo of Nadiya & Mat. Her "you baked it in the oven?!" face to Mat was brilliant!

I need to try .

That photo of Mat and Nadiya is wonderful :) I like her - she always looks so earnest when listening to their comments about her bakes as well as being funny throughout the show.

I guessed Star Baker and leaver this week - I thought it was obvious this time round.

SoupDragon · 17/09/2015 07:28

The fruit decorations by Prison Paul were amazing! he knows how to wield a knife...

Mrsjayy · 17/09/2015 08:02

Naydia is teeny or i didnt realise Mat was so tall. Poor Mat I liked him. Mary was very intent about her pies wasnt she dismissive of some. I was Nadiya to win i think or tamal not flora or Ian

dementedma · 17/09/2015 08:12

I quite like Ian. Think Flora will be next for the chop.

Mrsjayy · 17/09/2015 08:23

I dont mind Ian he looks so smug all the time though i think ian or paul will be next to go, i was reading floras Bio to see where she was from (i was in a compettion with dd ) and i read she baked a lot because she was a whole 20 minutes from the nearest shop 20 minutes poor sausage almost the wilderness Grin

ppeatfruit · 17/09/2015 09:07

Yes Shehasa I pissed myself laughing at Nad's face when she realised Matt had BAKED his icing Grin Grin

He had to go fgs (maybe he did it deliberately, he seemed pleased to go).

The point of the crown, I agree it was too heavy looking, was the Victorian theme, they overdressed their food then (if they were wealthy) because they could.

YonicScrewdriver · 17/09/2015 09:20

Here's the crown recipe, if anyone has 5.5 hours to spare...

Igneococcus · 17/09/2015 09:27

As a Bavarian myself I find it funny how down Mary&Paul were on raspberries with the bavarois because the traditional Bayrische Crème is served with raspberries. It's what I would expect if if ordered it in a restaurant in Bavaria.

Mrsjayy · 17/09/2015 09:39

Mary and paul know nothing obviously

Moln · 17/09/2015 09:44

I thought it was more so that Paul was a pomegranateist than Mary and Paul were down on raspberries

ppeatfruit · 17/09/2015 09:45

No Ibneococcus They were down on pomegranates not raspberries. Flora put pomegr. in hers and it wasn't traditional or nice to eat. Grin

Igneococcus · 17/09/2015 09:50

I can imagine pomegranate not being very nice texturally (although i love pomegranate) but it's nice to have some fruity sharpness against the sweet bavarois. Maybe Flora should have put it through a sieve for a better texture.

ppeatfruit · 17/09/2015 10:20

Yes, I like the flavour of pomegr. too but not the pips. Which is fine when you're eating the fruit but not in a cake. I don't sieve rasps for jam or anything, you don't notice those tiny weeny pips!

Notgivingin789 · 17/09/2015 10:43

Missed British bake off yesterday, was so tired after putting DS to bed. Off to Iplayer I go.

CakeNinja · 17/09/2015 13:09

I have to suffer watching this with the dds and they jibber jabber all the way through it (at the end I tell them every week that its the last time I will let them stay up Grin ) and now they're all at school, I'm about to put it on in the kitchen while I make tonight's chilli! I get one child free afternoon a week, this has to be the best way to spend it!

BitOutOfPractice · 17/09/2015 13:18

I think Flora is next out - she is very hit and miss

squoosh · 17/09/2015 13:19

Yep. Flora needs to hit the road.

BitOutOfPractice · 17/09/2015 13:23

So if Flora goes that leaves us with

Ian
Tamal
Nadiya
Prison Paul

I like them all except Ian who seems to have lost his mojo
