Anyone watching this?

I've already spotted someone I bet is a MNetter! Step up and reveal yourself!

OP posts:
RomComPhooey · 26/08/2015 21:41

I'd have them down as conformist muppets. And that £169 handbag = 2 months of the other family's take aways. She's in no position to judge.

cosmicglittergirl · 26/08/2015 21:41

Ha! Enjoyed the exchange about the cashmere coat.

ninniepie · 26/08/2015 21:42

Agreed re: the Radley bag mum. Scoffing at someone for paying off their mortgage and saving money is just pathetic.

And fgs it's only a Radley bag anyway! Anyone would think she was sporting the latest Chanel.

RomComPhooey · 26/08/2015 21:44

Morrisons didn't come far enough south in the 80s for my home town to have one.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 26/08/2015 21:46

I'm open mouthed at the bags of clothes. How can she find anything?

CremeEggThief · 26/08/2015 21:46

I don't like how Sharon and her daughter are acting towards Kate. Sad

RomComPhooey · 26/08/2015 21:47

Will have the last laugh when her mortgage is all paid off in 5 years.

RomComPhooey · 26/08/2015 21:48

Kate will...

wankerchief · 26/08/2015 21:49

£190 on sunglasses for a child

Girlfriend36 · 26/08/2015 21:50

£190 on sunglasses - ridiculous!

This programme is an eye opener Shock

cosmicglittergirl · 26/08/2015 21:50

I've got a pair of Ray Bans which were quite expensive, but they're my only pair and I've had them four years so I think that was money well spent. But those kids asking for a £190 pair off the cuff and getting them!

Ubik1 · 26/08/2015 21:50

I think they are spoiling their daughters.

They are setting unrealistic expectations of life and cash for them.

CakeNinja · 26/08/2015 21:50

Watching on a bit of a delay.
The woman who has the handbag and watch fixation has a scuzzy attitude. I can't believe she literally curled her lip at the other family who want to pay off their mortgage quicker.
Shocking to hear her say you could be dead in 5 years, she'd rather spend it on physical goods instead of (and this is my own thinking) wanting to have something solid (property) for her children should anything happen to her and her husband in the next 5 years.
How reckless Shock

Anyway, I'm not sure that particular segment of the programme added anything to it, I'm finding her materialism makes her come across as being vacuous and a bit thick which I'm sure isn't the case.

ninniepie · 26/08/2015 21:51

Kate seems like a lovely woman.

I think the Dad in the Manchester family is bullied into over spending.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 26/08/2015 21:51

Id be embarrassed if me or my dd had an attitude to labels like radley mum.

Our household income is more than Radley mums household income. We only have a tiny mortgage as well so I would be 99% sure our disposable income is higher.

There's no way Id spend 8k on a holiday or buy Prada sunglasses. My dd is 14yo and is happy in Primark stuff. She gets the odd label but more sensible, useful stuff than Prada sunglasses. So a pair of Dr Martens. She's happy enough with a Huawei phone. She has asked for an iPhone and I said no.

cosmicglittergirl · 26/08/2015 21:52

£700 for a phone!

NotSoDesperateHousewife · 26/08/2015 21:57

That Radley bag woman needs a (metaphorical) slap! What a dick.

Girlfriend36 · 26/08/2015 21:57

That can't be right can it? £700 on a phone?? Seriously?!

I worry about dd going to secondary school Sad

The snobby family are fools, they are buying into a lie which is the more something costs the better it is. That said the other families spending on take aways is also foolish!

ElderlyKoreanLady · 26/08/2015 21:58

I'm really annoyed at Label Mum's assertion that her children's ages are the reason they're unhappy with anything but labels. Her children actually laughed at Thrift Mum saying she shops at markets. That certainly isn't my experience of teenagers in Manchester. And she laughed with them. That's not a teenage thing, just a lack of class and a delusion of superiority.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 26/08/2015 21:58

I liked the London billionaire. He seemed a genuinely nice, down to earth bloke. I'm amazed he's single.

woodhill · 26/08/2015 21:59

yes and doing shopping as a hobby as a family.

£700 phone is daft, what if it's stolen or lost, more fool them

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 26/08/2015 22:00

I did think that Radley mum came across as quite "common", regardless of the fact that they're well off. Not well brought up as my mum would say.

cosmicglittergirl · 26/08/2015 22:02

The kids laughing with Radley mum was well annoying.

Lovewearingjeans · 26/08/2015 22:02

I don't trust myself to have £190 sunglasses, let alone a fifteen yr old!

CakeNinja · 26/08/2015 22:02

And now I think label mum and her daughters are absolutely horrible the way they all giggled and ridiculed saver mum for buying a bag on the market.
And this coming from someone who loves spending money!

Although I have to say, their household income isn't exactly enormous, I'm sceptical of how they're funding this lifestyle.
