They seem so used to be entertained rather than taught.

Yes , interesting ! The kids all look so fidgety and un interested - exactly as I was at school Blush

Rushyswife · 04/08/2015 21:39

Sophie is an attention seeker, but to be fair the Chinese teacher's classroom management skills are almost inviting a child like her to act out! Lots of 'is that ok'
I agree it's exaggerated by the camera but I bet her parents are cringing!

toddlersareeasier · 04/08/2015 21:41

The Chinese teachers don't seem to know how to cope with it at all.

minkychick are you a fellow Bohunt parent? Miss Hogg is fab, sad she's left. Mr Whitworth is great too. Some of these kids though Shock

woodhill · 04/08/2015 21:43

looks so boring. not very interactive.

woodhill · 04/08/2015 21:43

no English literature though

noblegiraffe · 04/08/2015 21:44

Hang on, how come that UK teacher is teaching the Chinese group trig? Won't that skew the "experiment" with the exam at the end?

ineedaholidaynow · 04/08/2015 21:44

I assume Chinese teachers don't often have to deal with a noisy, disruptive class, so won't have the methods to deal with it

FuzzyWizard · 04/08/2015 21:45

They seem like perfectly normal teens to me... the teaching from some of these Chinese teachers is bloody shocking IMO. They also seem to get flustered by the kids quite easily.

toddlersareeasier · 04/08/2015 21:46

They don't seem to take any responsibility. No concentration, no manners.

TheAmyrlin · 04/08/2015 21:46

That's what I was thinking, noblegiraffe.
But, I suppose he felt he couldn't turn the girls away as they'd asked for help.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 04/08/2015 21:48

I'm Shock at the behaviour of so many of these English kids.

My comp was very small and I don't remember any disruption like this

Pipbin · 04/08/2015 21:49

The Chinese teachers don't seem to know how to cope with it at all.
Because they have never had to cope with it at all.

Philoslothy · 04/08/2015 21:50

I appreciate that what we are seeing is edited but the badly behaved students don't seem to be sanctioned beyond being shouted at.

toddlersareeasier · 04/08/2015 21:51

I don't like the idea of a teacher having to cope with that daily. I would be mortified if my kids were seen as something to cope with, actually.

OP posts:
toddlersareeasier · 04/08/2015 21:52

The noise levels are so consistently high. They just can't shut up!

OP posts:
FuzzyWizard · 04/08/2015 21:53

Their behaviour to me seems silly and low-level disruptive... it's only spiralling out of control because it isn't being dealt with at all.

Philoslothy · 04/08/2015 21:54

The average classroom is just not like that. I was never the most engaging or inspiring teacher but even in a bog standard school I set work and told them to get on quietly or is silence and they did.

FuzzyWizard · 04/08/2015 21:54

That's exactly it Philoslothy- it's just shouting with no actual sanction or consequence.

toddlersareeasier · 04/08/2015 21:55

They should be dealing with their behaviour themselves, imo. What age are they? 14/15? Why is the idea of listening so radical?!

songbird · 04/08/2015 21:56

I love Rosie and her friend Grin

BrockAuLit · 04/08/2015 21:56

I like the attitude of the male Chinese teacher (switched on late, didn't catch any names sorry).

I'm developing a bit of a soft spot for Joe. He just needs someone to believe in him and encourage him. He will bloom.

Zhx3 · 04/08/2015 21:57

Me too, Songbird. I can recognise a couple of my students in Rosie and Angelina (?). I have taught couple of Sophies in my time too!

songbird · 04/08/2015 22:00

Yes the male teacher seems a bit less rigid and freaked out by the differences between the kids.

BrockAuLit · 04/08/2015 22:02

I think that compared to the other two women teachers, he is trying to understand the students' problems/failings and sort them out, rather than worry about their own failings as teachers/ deliverers of knowledge.
