Im currently laid up and will be fir a week.or two, hence my TV obsession at thr moment. Hardly anything 'funny' seems to make me laugh apart from The Big Bang Theory and Everybody Loves Raymond (I know, I know its not clever but I find it hilarious). What makes you laugh?

OP posts:
horsewalksintoabar · 29/07/2015 10:07

Family Guy
Father Ted
Seinfeld
8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown
Big Bang Theory
Fawlty Towers

horsewalksintoabar · 29/07/2015 10:08

MissEeerie · 29/07/2015 16:09

Parks and Recreation. I can watch it over and over again, though still can't bring myself to watch the final season. I'm not ready!

hellsbellsmelons · 29/07/2015 16:19

Friends - I can watch over and over
Modern Family
The Middle
Jeremy Kyle (although I cringe as well) Grin
Gavin and Stacey
Two and half men (with Charlie)

GirlOverboard · 29/07/2015 16:21

Black Books
Father Ted
Peep Show
One Foot In The Grave
The IT Crowd

MisguidedAngel · 29/07/2015 16:23

I second Everybody loves Raymond, Frasier, Gavin and Stacey, Friends.

More recently, I loved Episodes (Matt le Blanc is a very good comic actor)

But it all depends on your individual sense of humour - good word play makes me laugh, DP prefers more physical, slapstick type of humour.

Hope you're soon up and about.

The Inbetweeners
Friends
Gavin and Stacey
Royle family
Modern family

Red dwarf
League of their own- hate sport but love this show

Of current shows, I always enjoy TBBT. I loved Roseanne (early series anyway) back in the day, and have had a soft spot for Johnny Galecki since then!

Blackadder is fantastic (not series 1 though), and Father Ted too. I really like lots of Open All Hours. It just hits the spot perfectly in some episodes, Very good casting helps.

My ultimate favourite is Porridge. I love everything about it! Again, wonderful casting - Ronnie Barker and Richard Beckinsale are both brilliant, and supporting cast are fab as well. And the writing is superb. I think it was Clement and La Frenais' at their best (although I always enjoyed Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads, and Auf Wiedersehen, Pet too)

noblegiraffe · 29/07/2015 18:40

The first few seasons of 30 Rock. I love Tina Fey as Liz Lemon.

EmeraldThief · 29/07/2015 18:41

Father Ted
One Foot in The Grave

I also love blooper shows like I'll be Alright on the Night, Aunties Bloomers was another good. Basically I find it hilarious when stuff goes wrong.

If we're including old shows then:

Steptoe and Son
Fawlty Towers
Blackadder
Porridge (I agree that the writing is sublime)
Open All Hours
Dads Army
I love Jerry and Margot from the Good Life but find Tom and Barbara totally unfunny.
Rising Damp
Bottom

Floralnomad · 29/07/2015 20:14

We have had a few evenings recently where we have re watched an old comedy series , so far we've done
Thin Blue Line
Being Eileen
Dinner ladies
Modern Family
And we are just about to start on The Brittas Empire
I also love Frasier ( especially the later episodes)

DrEdwardNigma · 29/07/2015 20:16

How I met your mother
Big bang theory
Friends
The Inbetweeners
Peep show

FadedRed · 29/07/2015 20:17

Op, don't forget there's some funny stuff on the radio too. My favourites are The Now Show, Mark Steele, I'm sorry I haven't a clue and the News Quiz (which wll be even better now the presenter is changing).
Hope you are feeling better soon.

helenahandbag · 29/07/2015 20:20

I love most of the ones already mentioned but at the moment I really love Brooklyn Nine Nine. On the face of it I should really hate it because I hate stupid shows but it makes me laugh like a drain. I absolutely love the chief.

helenahandbag · 29/07/2015 20:22

Oh, also Extras. It's pretty old now but I still crack up when watching it. The scene with the fizzy water and where Ricky Gervais's stomach bursts out of the girdle make me cry with laughter.

BackforGood · 29/07/2015 20:37

That's on currently?

Mock the week
The Last Leg
Live at the Apollo
Big Bang Theory
Melissa and Joey
John Bishop Show
Probably about due some stuff from the Edinburgh Festival (?)

NashvilleQueen · 29/07/2015 21:20

If we are doing radio can I add Cabin Pressure?
Also the Count Arthur Strong TV series was good. And I forgot The Trip with Steve Coogan.

I was going to include Come Dine With Me in my first post and see someone else has suggested it. I do find it quite amusing.

CoffeeAndOranges · 29/07/2015 21:56

We are currently loving Yonderland from the Horrible Histories gang - I think it's aimed at kids, or families, but there's a lot of clever stuff in it We don't have kids yet but eagerly await the next episode.

Can't beat Father Ted, it always cheers me up.

Always love the News Quiz on R4 - unlike pp, I am a Sandi Toksvig fan so will be hoping the next presenter lives up to her high standards!
