Is it filmed in Scarborough?

Amy should be easily traceable. Hope Godfrey gets his money back off the manipulative minx.

firefly78 · 07/07/2015 22:31

what a load of old toilet!!!

Samcro · 07/07/2015 22:31

I was annoyed the her parents didn't give him the money

awaynboilyurheid · 07/07/2015 22:36

The way Amy's diabetes was dealt with was scary I know it's only a drama so thankfully no one would give someone insulin to make them better when they had no idea what they were doing realisesitakeittooseriously

I'm gutted with how it ended. I enjoyed this series but felt they didn't end it very well.

oneowlgirl · 07/07/2015 23:11

I enjoyed it, but then I'm easily pleased Grin

The whole plot was so predictable although it did annoy me that there was no explanation as to how Amy & the American had come up with the scheme, given they'd only just met & the lottery win couldn't have been predicted!

I loved the kitchen though Grin

2rebecca · 07/07/2015 23:46

Agree the diabetes was rubbish. If a diabetic feels ill they need sugar not insulin and pharmacists don't hand out insulin pens to random nieces with no id or GP details although it was unclear whether or not she made up all the diabetes hostage stuff anyway

drinkscabinet · 08/07/2015 00:06

What £750K really gets in Scarborough Houses on modern estates cost more than period properties apparently.

All enjoyably silly but that's always true of Kay Mellor, lots of working class grit and 'issues' that are easily brushed away.

Scarborough is lovely though, very faded seaside glamour. DH and I went years ago, enjoyed some good theatre, paid our respects to Anne Bronte and ate fish and chips and enjoyed the fairground. A lovely weekend.

icelollycraving · 08/07/2015 07:02

This series really was fluff!

NoahVale · 08/07/2015 07:04

the writer must have been on drugs,
appalling.

MishMooshAndMogwai · 08/07/2015 10:41

WTAF? That ending?? So disappointed!

floellabenjaminsearrings · 08/07/2015 11:46

I decided after that ridiculous thing with Billie Piper and Sue Johnston a few years ago, that in order to watch Kay Mellor dramas you have to utterly suspend reality in a similar vein to series 2 of Broadchurch.

As a bit of escapism it was reasonably enjoyable. Aside from the most bungled police investigation of all time; I found it amazing that they managed to complete on a complicated sale of a country estate, refit the kitchen, build a lake, and set up a riding school and cookery school in what cannot possibly have been more than a fortnight.

2rebecca · 08/07/2015 14:49

Not sure why lord whatsit was saying sulky girl was the sole heir to Hazelwood manor when he'd just sold it.
If he'd flogged it to the Americans she'd have been much wealthier, although I presume he now has all the cash from the sale to leave her

MissBattleaxe · 08/07/2015 14:58

I think they bought half of it, which paid off its debts so Lord Hazelwood and the syndicate all owned it.

If a diabetic feels ill they need sugar not insulin Not always. It could be a hyper or a hypo- BIG difference. But yeah, the bit where he just goes to an OOH Doc and makes up a story was a bit pants.

I loved it as escapism but if I examined all the plotlines I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much. Sometimes I just like to be told a story, no matter how far fetched ( and it really was!)

Lovely to see Anthony Andrews back on screen.

oneowlgirl · 08/07/2015 18:28

Totally agree - amazing how attractive Anthony Andrews still is Grin

Excitedforxmas · 08/07/2015 18:31

So Amy ran off in the end with Godfreys money? Skank! I liked Lenny Henry's character. Thought the ending was too rushed though

hollyisalovelyname · 08/07/2015 19:40

Please explain how Amy and the American got together?
Was it a pack of lies she told the police ( and her Mum) ?

zukiecat · 08/07/2015 19:43

oneowl

Brideshead Revisited is being shown at the moment on one of the entertainment channels, I've been dipping in and out and if anything Anthony Andrews has got even better looking with age!

Rollermum · 08/07/2015 19:54

This was total pants in the end. Even DH thought so and he is easily pleased.Grin

Yes Oneowlgirl it made no sense that Amy and the American cooked up the scheme!

And she basically stole from Geoffrey. Amy's Dad was a 2D angry man. The daughter of Lord Hazlewood was constantly running about crying with severe middle parted hair.

I'm relieved it's over.

Rollermum · 08/07/2015 19:56

Godfrey not Geoffrey.

southeastdweller · 08/07/2015 21:33

I was pissed off Amy the skank didn't get her comeuppance.

Agree about Anthony Andrews still looking good (at 67).

It was all very silly yet watchable. Not the best series Kay Mellor's written. I'm looking forward to the return of In the Club, later this year.

floellabenjaminsearrings · 08/07/2015 22:31

To answer those people asking how Amy and the American worked out the scheme; I think it was when she got hold of Spencer's ipad. She said she facetimed everyone she could think of, and it showed her going through his contact list. As she hid the ipad afterwards, presumably they had lots of further opportunities to FaceTime and work out the details.

hollyisalovelyname · 08/07/2015 22:32

Thank you Floella

2rebecca · 08/07/2015 23:46

Were we meant to like Amy? I just found her self centred and grabby (and completely deluded as to how attractive she was, she mainly seemed to attract male attention by wearing hardly any clothes.)
