Afternoon
Been busy this morning do just sitting down now before we go out again
It's very frustrating all these itv shows that get a 2nd series whilst we are still waiting. I can't get into any dramas shown at the moment none of them are grabbing my attention like OG at all.

ice try Banshee or Strike Back - always worth a good gawp, forget the storyline.

Rhubarb01 · 15/06/2015 14:20

I remember we had one, young, hunky PE teacher when I was at school and all the girls fancied him. I think he knew it too! We went on a camping trip and he came along as a supervisor. The weather was quite hot and he liked to lounge around in a pair of skimpy speedos. When my mum saw my kodak snaps of the trip complete with a blonde, sex god lounging on the picnic blanket with the girls she wanted to know where on earth he appeared from. Not too impressed to be told it was the PE teacher!

The female PE teachers unfortunately were mostly subject to speculation as to their true sex and motivation for being in the job - say no more. Typical, unfair nonsense from teenagers. By contrast my DD's teachers are all very nice and she thinks they're the best teachers she gets all week!

Ilovelblue · 15/06/2015 15:15

I don't think we had any male PE teachers who all the girls fancied. For us, it was one of the young male geography teachers. (The only young one, the others all wore checked shirts and cord jackets with elbow patches). There was a great take-up for O level geography in the fourth year based on his sex appeal.

As for the female PE teachers, they all used to stand at one end of the showers watching us all go through after a lesson. It was horrible - no curtains or anything. And yes, their sexuality was often questioned, though whether we really understood it at that age, I wouldn't like to say. It is the best part of 40 years ago now.........

KeziaOAP · 15/06/2015 16:51

Oh male PE teacher I remember very well, even tho' such a long time ago, in the 1950s, all us girls drooled over him - went off him a bit after he was found in the school potting shed with female geography teacher, she was moved to another school he stayed Hmm.

orphan · 15/06/2015 16:53

Oh yes the dreaded after PE shower. My female PE teacher was particularly good at standing watching as we huddled under the cold water. At Dp's school, boys weren't allowed to wear any underwear whilst doing PE and the teacher was very vigilant in ensuring this rule was kept!

icemistOBE · 15/06/2015 16:54

The only good looking make teacher in my secondary school was the priest.... Such a waste

orphan · 15/06/2015 16:55

That's a classic kezia the potting shed! I expect he was showing her his dibber.

Dizzydots · 15/06/2015 16:56

Ooh thanks ilove that has cheered me up. Sadly it will be too late for him to join me on holiday which is fast approaching but once back I will be looking forward to a day at the races with an evening band, perhaps CJ would like to accompany me to that - I can imagine him being all masterful when it comes to placing bets Smile. woof what is it about maths teachers, I have experienced just that claminess :/

orphan · 15/06/2015 16:56

Ooh ice we're back to Thorn birds!

KeziaOAP · 15/06/2015 17:04

Dibber is that a euphemism orph? I was young and innocent in those days wouldn't know what one of them was Hmm Grin.

moojangles · 15/06/2015 17:08

yuk, please not the Thorn Birds! very little changes it seems, might take a bit more care near the potting shed

icemistOBE · 15/06/2015 17:52

I had a photo of him we took when it was the teachers v students football match Blush

Hi. Sorry to be a little ray of sunshine but what a shitty day I've had. Trying to get through to my doctors prescriptions line for most of the day but constantly engaged and you can never get through p***s me off plus (apologies if any teachers reading this)had beefs with my Dds school today as she gets wheezy chests and they weren't keen on giving her an inhaler when I said it should really be four hourly if they can. I know teachers are busy but to help them out I went to school later to do it for them but they said she was fine and I couldn't see her as it wasn't her lunchtime but when I picked her up later, sure enough she was chesty! I've got to get a doctors note for the teachers to do what I say even though I'm the parent!! Aaaaah! I need CJ, a bubble bath, champagne and those long fingers!! Smile

Rhubarb01 · 15/06/2015 19:32

Kelly I sympathise. Medical matters and school can be a pain. It seems to me that each school has its own rules and approach to medicating kids. I know it must be difficult for schools taking responsibility for administering medication but in my kids' schools it was usually the case that if the parent signed something authorising staff to medicate as they instruct then they would do it. It seems a bit over the top and legalistic to ask for a doctor's note - particularly as you can be charged for that. I once needed one because DD was going on a residential run by an outside organisation and she'd had an injury to her foot. I was charged £10 for the letter.

KellyHb · 15/06/2015 20:30

The school is generally pretty good as DD has type 1 diabetes and they're great with injecting her with insulin and checking blood sugar levels even though me and DH had to train up the school as they don't have a school nurse!

Onlygirljen · 15/06/2015 21:23

ilove does CJ fancy a week in the Lakes in mid July? We're going on hols and I'd happily take him and have him take me

Only foreseeable problem is that our friends and their brand new baby are also coming - the sight of CJ with a newborn baby might just finish my ovaries off. I'm willing to take the chance though.

pixieg1rl · 15/06/2015 21:29

If I start knitting now jen I can make all sorts of bootees and matinée jackets for the CJen baby....

Onlygirljen · 15/06/2015 21:31

I can see the headlines now - 'hysterical mum knocked up by fictional character, blames mumsnet for her misfortune'

KellyHb · 15/06/2015 21:32

Actually can I just have an OG rant? Sorry I know you're probably sick of this same point. Thinking about the whole BBC situation. It's been like nearly 9 months since the last episode and there's been absolutely nothing, no word from BBC or TG apart from those tweets he sent on a Sunday, its been exported to Aus, New Zealand and now Sweden. You would think even if BBC are undecided, they or TG would even say no word or some sort of tweet saying thanks but can you wait out a bit longer but for no word its like letting people hope where there might not be any and I don't that's on any more. We've all been so patient. The hardest part BA\LT may be avail now as BA didn't work out in America and theirs was the best chemistry I've ever seen. It just feels like BBCs wasting this opportunity while other dramas get commissions left, right and centre. I bet you we'll get word that BA will be busy doing something else for ages soon and that'll be that. Sorry for rant but the situation frustrates me no end!! Virtual hugs please! Sad What do others think?

Rhubarb01 · 15/06/2015 22:01

If they haven't already decided 'no' but not communicated it then maybe they are thinking there has been a reasonable response so far in Australia and New Zealand (more pro Brit countries) and so they will test it out in another European country to see how it goes down with a different type of audience. Even if the general feeling is positive towards another series after it's shown there I suppose it will still depend on who can do it or wants to do it and therefore what the script will be. I think that TG has Molly at the heart of everything and the key is really to continue her story. I hate to say this but I reckon he could write a decent series for her without CJ in it if BA couldn't or wouldn't do it. We might not like it but I bet it would still be a good and thought provoking drama. Much as we'd like to know something I suppose it could all be quite finely balanced at the moment.

Ilovelblue · 15/06/2015 22:15

Jen consider yourself booked in with CJ! The "hysterical Mum knocked up by fictional character" is a kind of modern day Virgin Mary I think. (Apologies to anyone who is very religious).

The good part of you going to the Lakes is that I am only an hour's drive away so he could spend the previous evening with me as a stopover. I think that would be a good plan, don't you?

Kelly yes, it's all very frustrating. I am still of the opinion that there's a chance of another series because I don't understand why TG would otherwise send those tantalising tweets. I've learned not to think about it and the amazing ff we are enjoying (yours included of course) takes the edge off my frustration. In fact, since CJ has developed so much as a character in these stories, it might almost be an anti-climax to see another OG storyline. What we really want is a CJ storyline but if he does resign his commission, would it be as good to see him as a stay at home husband/partner/whatever whilst Molly is overseas somewhere. Does that make sense?

I think some of our ff stories would make superb television and wouldn't necessarily need six months of filming overseas either.

cjwoofwoof · 15/06/2015 22:30

Poor you kelly you have had a crappy day all round You defo need a visit from CJ pretty pronto before he impregnates jen in the Lakes.

Personally I don't think there will be a series 2 along the lines of series 1. Ditto to Rhus view that maybe we'll get another story of Molly's journey without CJ. Question is, would that be worth watching?

icemistOBE · 15/06/2015 22:31

It's so annoying! They announced pretty quickly that The Crimson Field was not being renewed, but here we are 9 months later and none the wiser. Mind you for all we know maybe everything is ready to go but just waiting on LT to agree....But I do worry that another series, won't live up to our expectations especially with all the FF written. I still think of a description of Our Girl series as 'essentially a love story set against the backdrop of the war in Afghan' where the one-off was Molly getting out of her life as it was and doing something positive. Either way, as couples can't serve together it will be interesting to see how TG would move forward with CJ/Molly

OP posts:
cjwoofwoof · 15/06/2015 22:44

Humph I liked Crimson Field too ice - who are these BBC bods who take off all the good dramas? Banished has been dumped too. And what do we get? More repeats of Mrs Browns Bloody Boys or great wringing of hands over whether Top Gear will continue without Jeremy Beergut Clarkson. Who cares?
