Watching it all in iplayer and I think it's great. It looks like he's moved away from mis-heard lyrics and 'spare chair'/'big light'
He did ask Kayleigh if she was on glue... Do you think he's a MNetter??

I've just watched the first two and really enjoying it. Very gentle, lots of great detail and a nice bit of chemistry.

Ladymoods · 02/05/2015 00:04

I thought it was a load of crap personally. Didn't even smile once, let alone laugh.

squeezycheese the reason Phoenix Nights was so much better than his other stuff is because he had two others writing along side him.

Ladymoods · 02/05/2015 00:05

Music was good though.

Bakeoffcake · 02/05/2015 00:08

I loved the first two episodes. The dogging stuff made me laugh so much I wokke up dhGrin

leccybill · 02/05/2015 00:35

I thought his acting was great, lots of nuance. It's the tiny details which make it work.

TooManyHouseGuests · 02/05/2015 09:58

Loved the first two episodes! Great chemistry; subtle, gentle humour; sophisticated without being elitist. My husband, who never laughs out loud was full of mirth.

Mrsjayy · 02/05/2015 10:01

I watched it last night thought it was funny why did kayleigh have a bottle of piss ? Forever FM adverts were hilarious

Pastaagain78 · 02/05/2015 10:08

Thought it was lovely.

leccybill · 02/05/2015 10:14

It wasn't what I was expecting tbh, Peter Kay had become a bit of a laughing stock (pardon the pun), making a fool of himself on chat shows like a cringey uncle on speed... but it was good. Subtle, a bit underplayed. Love the everyday detail in it.
I wonder if Fiat paid for a bit of promotion in it.

chockbic · 02/05/2015 10:19

The actress is very good with her performance. Alanis stuff rang a bell Blush

stareatthetvscreen · 02/05/2015 10:22

ugh i thought it was dire

chockbic · 02/05/2015 10:47

It isn't really laugh out loud as his other work.

I chuckled at the sign board which said: this isn't a sign.

QueenJulian · 02/05/2015 10:57

How is everyone watching all 6 episodes?! I've just gone on to iplayer and it says episode 3 isn't available til after broadcast.

chockbic · 02/05/2015 11:24

They previewed them on iPlayer for a bit. Have taken them off now though.

QueenJulian · 02/05/2015 12:53

Oh that's a shame!

chockbic · 02/05/2015 14:29

Next one is on Wednesday Smile

sheldonesque · 02/05/2015 18:54

That would be nice as well inapickle Grin

Alas it has been that long I believe I have become hermetically sealed. In a perfect world I would have Forever fm to help me while away the hours...

in my new shed.

InQuiteAPickle · 02/05/2015 18:56

Ha Grin

sheldonesque · 02/05/2015 19:11

Apologies. I missed your quite.

It would appear my brain might be the only thing about me that's fuc....

Blush
Yikesivedoneitagain · 02/05/2015 19:13

I thought it was dreadful! Shockingly so.

Whathaveilost · 02/05/2015 23:28

All four of us loved it ( me, DH nd DS 19 and 15)

I wonder if there is humour divide, you know like the North South divide.

I have found in the past a lot of Southerners haven't 'got'Kay while a lot of Northerners that I know don't particularly like the likes ofMickey Flannagan

( not all obviously)

Ladymoods · 03/05/2015 01:20

I 'get' Peter Kay, I just think he's shit. What is there to not get, he just talks about stuff he remembers. Nothing clever or funny or well written in his stand up at all.

jonicomelately · 03/05/2015 08:17

'He just talks about stuff he remembers.'

Most comedians do this. It's called observational comedy. I think Peter Kay does it very well.

ChocolateCherry · 03/05/2015 08:57

I'm a southerner and I love itGrin

I think it's clever too. Just two people talking. (I enjoyed the Detectorists too. There were more characters in that, but it was still largely just two characters simply chatting whilst doing something mundane).

Peter Kay makes me laugh because he could quite plausibly be someone you know. He seems so ordinary. I've known similar people - everyday humour can be hilarious Grin

BathtimeFunkster · 03/05/2015 09:06

We really liked it too. Well written and paced and acted.
