I'm ready for Bethany to bugger off back to Italy now.

If she could take Les Dennis, Michelle, Tracey-Luv, Jazz-Hands, Chesney, Sinead, the chicken man and his entire family, and Rita I would be very grateful.

They are nothing if not efficient these corrie kids...

shipinabottle · 08/06/2015 22:41

To be fair Simon has always played the moany, whiny angry kid. He never gets a break ( like Anna)

Did anyone notice how tiny Sarah was behind the bar serving Callum?
She looked like a teeny child behind the bar. She doesn't age at all.

RedandYellow24 · 08/06/2015 22:49

I thought that! at the end scene it looked like she was sitting on a stool I thought that's why Liz told her off. Never really be able to serve properly! She suddenly gone from business woman of the year to mim wage job part time, realistic or what.

Do feel sorry for Simon and his "gran" is also going to die soon so goodness knows what end up like.

Wonder when devs kids will get more story line than go upstairs to brush your teeth. Max Simeon all had decent story lines apart from when they took to Mary after their m died Bearly do anything. Wonder if at 11 be shipped off to boarding school or suddenly develop into actual characters compared to amy they are shadows

ProfYaffle · 09/06/2015 06:44

I couldn't believe the size of Leanne's bruise from a remote control! They could've at least had him chuck something a bit more substantial at her.

Wishful80smontage · 09/06/2015 08:26

I chucked a remote at my sisters head when we were teenagers she did have an egg on her forehead but no bruise-

RedandYellow24 · 09/06/2015 09:51

It was a huge mark on face Ken had a whole conversation before saying oh what happened to your face?! Any normal person would be like wow what the he'll happened to you with a nano second of opening the door!

alseb · 09/06/2015 10:34

The scene with the couple arguing over the bill at the Bistro. Just dreadful. I so used to love Coronation Street. It's a chore to watch it now! It used to have such funny and poignant scenes with brilliant acting.

Iwantacampervan · 09/06/2015 10:58

The scene with the arguing couple in the Bistro looked as though it had been added as a filler as it served no purpose - have they had to cut any characters and their scenes recently?

AgathaChristie01 · 09/06/2015 11:42

It was a bit of a filler alright. Was it to show Gandy and Steph having a laugh, so that the mood could then be completely destroyed when they got the news about Michael... Grin
I've missed a number of episodes at this stage. I presume it still isn't known generally that the mugging of Gandy was staged, in order to pay off Gavin The Real, with the takings from the bistro?
There was vague mention of checking CCTV at the time, but nothing further happened on that, I think.

zukiecat · 09/06/2015 12:10

alseb

You're so right about funny and poignant scenes, I was browsing youtube the other day and came across some wonderful old clips of Hilda Ogden, one of the all time greats IMO.

"Woman, Stanley, Woman!" Grin

The scene where she is sobbing over Stan's specs is as heartrending now as it was then.

They don't make them like that any more sadly.

AgathaChristie01 · 09/06/2015 13:00

So true. I love old episodes. The characters were so much stronger, there was no need to rely on shock horror storylines, which often come to nothing anyway.
One of my all time favourites is the Barlows plus Blanche attending the AA meeting. I laugh so much, no matter how often I watch it. I cannot pick out any one of them over another, they all play their parts so brilliantly in it.
Also loved Hilda, Eddie, Jack, Vera, Maud, Phyllis and her unending pursuit of Percy... Grin

alseb · 09/06/2015 14:38

One of my favourites was a bank holiday outing for Bet Lynch, Betty and Fred Gee when their car ( I think it was a jag) rolled into a lake. It was hilarious (no one injured). The acting was brilliant. Maureen and the water bed scene - story lines were simpler and funnier.

MitzyLeFrouf · 09/06/2015 14:40

I did chuckle when Michael and Eileen were comparing which was worse, being chatted up by your son on the internet or someone pretending to be your son.

zukiecat · 09/06/2015 15:22

Very true alseb,

No sensational nonsense, just simple, everyday things, much better.

Like Ena Sharples and Elsie Tanner always being at war with each other.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 09/06/2015 15:30

Just catching up and am astonished at just how bad Les was at acting drunk.

Gail's lines in Eileen's house about the picture frame were just forced and unrealistic. They are making her into a complete fool.

OP posts:
TheLastPickleInTheJar · 09/06/2015 15:38

Weren't they supposed to be forced though anne? I thought she was making awkward conversation because she was in the house of a woman with whom she's had years of arguments. They dislike eachother therefore their conversation was stilted.

HirplesWithHaggis · 09/06/2015 16:02

I thought the Gail/Eileen scene was hilarious! Two women cordially loathing each other and making snide, bitchy comments politely while waiting. Brilliant. Grin

SymphonyofShadows · 09/06/2015 16:53

A very butch mug!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 09/06/2015 18:15

The bit I thought was ridiculous was when she said "that frame's nice. Or is it? Did you get it in a petrol station". Totally totally un-natural. You wouldn't say "or is it?". If you wanted to be bitchy you would say the same thing without that bit.

OP posts:
theliverpoolone · 09/06/2015 18:35

Agree that Les Dennis acting drunk was embarrassingly bad, but generally, especially when he found out about Gandy, I think he's acted a lot of them off the screen (not hard, mind you - even I could out-act Ken Grin).

I initially thought it was odd that Ken wasn't mentioning Leanne's face when she was at the door, but then as soon as Simon was out of earshot he did, so maybe they wrote it like that to show Ken being sensitive to not asking about something that might be inappropriate for Simon to hear (not knowing Simon had actually caused it!)

AnneEyhtMeyer · 09/06/2015 19:13

I think a teddy bear could out-act Ken, liverpool!

OP posts:
SymphonyofShadows · 09/06/2015 19:42

I thought Kim Tate over acted terribly when she was eating the carbonara. She was shovelling it in and nodding to herself.

AgathaChristie01 · 09/06/2015 21:52

Missed most of last night's episodes. I did see Eileen having to say what Michael was doing, when he became ill. Lying on top of her... Glad I missed that.
I didn't see what happened with Leanne and Simon but had read about it. I really don't like Simon much, I wish Peter had taken him with him.

RainbowCake · 10/06/2015 10:30

That was a corker of a bruise on Leanne's cheek, amazing how that appeared swing as though the remote hit her on her head, nowhere near her face.

It's just ridiculous lately, I'm really not sure why I'm still watching as I spend so much time getting mad and internally saying for ducks sake!

RainbowCake · 10/06/2015 10:32

Argh auto correct! But you get the idea Grin
