I love The Royle Family!

(dh doesn't get it at all. Mind you, he thought Alan Partridge and The Office were 'real')

Bomper · 27/10/2006 18:51

Yeah, I think it's this Sunday, just a one of special. Little David is 6, Denise is pregnant, Nanna now lives with them, and Anthony is a business man who has a son called Lewis and he has left home. Can't wait!!

Gosh, it was really poigniant for me too. The bit where Barbara was putting curlers in her hair, could have been my mum and nan, I remember my mum doing my nan's hair in curlers for her every Sunday evening!! It made me feel and at the same tinme.

Don't mind contrived bits,it's entertainment. I really loved it and laughed all the way through, the same as I loved Early Doors.
I can't understand why Guardian type writers are miserable about telly like this, but prefer tripe like Coupling and Gimme Gimme Gimme.

Happymumof2 and WB, i felt exactly the same, and woke up thinking about it, she was so similarto my nanna. I was glad that my parents are away at the moment otherwise it would've upset my mum so much. A brilliantly observed portrait.

ballbaby · 30/10/2006 18:27

Had a real belly laugh when nan appeared at the beginning as a ghostly apparition over Jim's shoulder - hilarious! Wasn't he a nasty pow when he asked Ant for a handout. Thought it was incredibly touching but not really what i wanted - needed cheering up after a crap weekend and didn't think I was going to get a weepy. Enjoyed it anyway
