She wasn't in her recent one about the antenatal group - In The Club - I was quite surprised. I quite like her though, she seemed very nice on Dancing on Ice (years ago now!).

diddl · 24/02/2015 17:37

I think that it might be!

I do like him in the part though & has he been in much else that she has done?

was there a Dr Turner in the books or was the part created for him?

WasabiPeace · 24/02/2015 17:39

Blimey, unless you are actually married to him this is a bit of an overreaction, innit?

This reminds me of when I was 14 and slapped my friend because she had a snogging dream about Mark Owen.

Clockingoff · 24/02/2015 17:42

I think it's becoming a bit clichéd and soap opera-ish. It's still miles better than most things on television nowadays, but if it keeps going the way it is I can't see established actors like Jenny Agutter and Pam Ferris wanting to remain with the programme.

I mean, there's nothing wrong with it but it just seems to lack the punch of the first couple of series, where it really deserved the calibre of actors it attracted. I wouldn't like to see it continue with tons of ex soap stars taking the lead roles, which often happens if dramas are dragged on instead of being allowed come to a natural end.

BOFster · 24/02/2015 17:43

I don't recall there being a regularly-mentioned doctor in the books, but it's a while since I read them. AFAIK, the current storylines are basically fictional, but they are consulting with people who remember the era. You can tell, I think- it's all about "issues" now, and heavily didactic.

3littlefrogs · 24/02/2015 18:01

I think it would be interesting if they televised the other books.
The one about end of life care was particularly thought provoking.

JeanneDeMontbaston · 24/02/2015 18:12

They did televise bits of that one, 3little. Remember, with the man who asked Jenny to come see him, but he was struggling to look after himself and his place was filthy?

I agree they possibly could've done a bit more.

BertieBotts · 24/02/2015 18:19

Grin This is the second bunfight on this thread!

3littlefrogs · 24/02/2015 18:29

Yes - I do remember that one.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 24/02/2015 21:30

He is mentioned in the book - he isn't married to an ex-nun though.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 24/02/2015 22:19

I think the problem with the Turners is that their appeal was based on the will-they-won't-they forbidden attraction. As soon as they became a couple they became ordinary and boring (this happens all the time with this sort of fictional relationship set-up). I also think they have serious saccharine-overload.

Steven McGann has definitely improved with age though. He was always the least attractive of the brothers by a country mile, but he has grown into his looks a lot. But he still is "interesting looking" rather than handsome.

ShelaghTurner · 25/02/2015 01:33

You're right. I over reacted, I apologise. I didn't like what I thought was being implied but I got it wrong. I'm sorry. Flowers

It's the only programme I watch and so I guess I'm over invested in it. Not good for discussion so I'll leave you guys to it.

mammuzzamia · 25/02/2015 03:15

You could say we're all slightly over invested if we've taken the trouble to post on a thread about the programme, surely Grin

Come now, nobody needs to leave

Weebirdie · 25/02/2015 04:02

Shelagh, you can't go, Mrs Smith at number 8 is in labour and we need you!!!!!

HoraceCope · 25/02/2015 07:47

i wondered how realistic it would be for the nurses to take over the clinics,

girliefriend · 25/02/2015 09:28

Shelagh don't go!!

It's the only programme I sit down to watch as well Blush

JeanneDeMontbaston · 25/02/2015 09:54

No worries at all - it was really good of you to come and apologize. But don't go - it happens to us all. I once got a MN calling email for a thread about, erm, TV licences. Blush So, honestly, I have been a much more giant over-invester than you on far more trivial topics.

ShelaghTurner · 25/02/2015 12:16

Thanks everyone and especially Jeanne. I feel like a prize prick now though Blush

limitedperiodonly · 25/02/2015 12:31

I feel like a prize prick now though

I know that feeling well Shelagh Wink

iklboo · 25/02/2015 12:36

Ah now Shelagh. Don't beat yourself up. You've actually breathed the same air as Dr Turner / Mr McGann!

MarthasHarbour · 25/02/2015 13:55

Shelagh i think you have spent far too much time sewing Timmy Turners name labels and bouncing baby Angela on your lap. You need to get that nurses uniform back on and get back to work. Thats what you need

ShelaghTurner · 25/02/2015 14:23

Tut tut. You obviously didn't keep watching. I fecked the labels into the bin and made Grammar School Boy write his own name on with a Sharpie. Spent the afternoon more wisely, going for a roll on Dr Turner's desk... Grin

MarthasHarbour · 25/02/2015 15:04
Shock
ShelaghTurner · 25/02/2015 15:23

You don't ditch the habit to sew labels you know...

Grin
iklboo · 25/02/2015 17:45

Was it a cheese & ham roll? Was there any chutney? (Bats eyelashes innocently).
