Sorry, didn't mean to offend you. I know it's my opinion.
But, I think it's actually pretty dodgy to send out an unhealthy image of mental illness - what I mean by 'unhealthy' is 'totally unrealistic and liable to make it harder for people with real mental illness', btw. I mean that people will see him going 'ah, I was ill, now, magically, I am better at just the right time' and think 'oh, everyone who's ill should be able to make an effort and push it off'.
But it may be I am overthinking it all really!
I don't think you can really prove his wife being the writer doesn't have an effect. I didn't think he saw scripts either - I'm not suggesting some form of nepotism (if that's the right word) - just that I think she imagines everyone sees him the way she does. It's sweet, but it feels a bit embarrassing somehow.
