Those costs on that piece of paper can't be representative really as they don't account for shopping around.

Gareth and Zoe started investigating the visa process on their return from Australia. It soon became clear, however, that Riley's condition meant the cost of getting appropriate medical tests could become prohibitively expensive. Fearing they could spend a substantial amount of money only for their application to be unsuccessful, the family have decided to stay in the UK for the time being.

Gareth and Zoe have recently purchased a house, and will reconsider emigrating down under once more in around five years time, once Riley has started secondary school. Gareth has started a new job in the Gas industry, which he believes would be in demand in Australia in the future.

The Lloyds hope to visit Adelaide again in the next year or two to get to know the city better.

I missed the start, did they not factor in healthcare costs?

So is the cost of treatment for Riley's condition what's stopped them, not the lack of decent salary or family....

I did wonder about healthcare costs for Riley it didn't get mentioned when they meet the lady in the park with the condition

So really they had no more chance of going than the rest of us. They had no money, no qualifications that would fit in Australia and a child with health complications and they didn't really want to leave their family and friends!! Bit pointless tbh

I wish they would use the format with other countries too, like Canada maybe. Wanted Sideways. Fed up of Australia.

I cannot see them going at all now, let alone in five years time when Riley is at secondary school. The already high medical costs have also put paid to any such move.

Its funny I know so many Australians over here, plus famuly, who couldn't wait to move over here - do they have an equivalent Home Up Over program in Australia?
