been working o/n so treating myself to a Homes Down Under - mussed the beginning, am I seeing it right that the middle child has some kind of problem with the sun? and they're contemplating moving to Australia, land of the ozone hole and inventor of the UV suit? really?!!?!

dillite · 15/01/2015 09:45

There's no wee spraying zoo in Manchester?

IAmAPaleontologist · 15/01/2015 09:47

Because of course the lifestyle activities are representative. They can get a TV company to set them up with feeding the animals at the zoo etc any time they want after they have moved there Hmm. Do they not realise they will ahve work, school, homework, laundry, housework etc just like at home. The weather might make it easier to be out when you do have free time but it doesn't make all the day to day drudgery go away.

dillite · 15/01/2015 09:47

No amount of shade will save you from 40 degree heat. The air is still hot!

Vagndidit · 15/01/2015 09:48

A pink t-shirt? Not exactly professional wear. Blush

Judgy pants in progress...

susiedaisy · 15/01/2015 09:50

Bloody hell

IAmAPaleontologist · 15/01/2015 09:50

Exactly dil, hot is hot no matter what shade you have. Not like here where there is generally a coolish breeze. I have walked around the Flinders Ranges in 50C heat. You couldn't escape it at all.

dillite · 15/01/2015 09:50

18k a year worse off? That's insane!

IAmAPaleontologist · 15/01/2015 09:51

I thought it was quite well known that the cost of living in Australia was high? Do these people not have Google at home?

Sparklingbrook · 15/01/2015 09:51

Oh dear. they could have done the Reality Check before leaving the UK and saved themselves the long trip....

susiedaisy · 15/01/2015 09:51

Sadly they don't have the professions that will earn them the money.

forago · 15/01/2015 09:52

I am sure a care assistant can work.more hours if not quite full time

askyfullofstars · 15/01/2015 09:52

Yet, they will probably still choose Australia....

dillite · 15/01/2015 09:53

I was in Morocco in June in 40 degree heat. I could feel my skin burn. The only cool place was the cold shower in the bathroom . And a shopping centre. Everywhere else was like a sauna even in shade.

susiedaisy · 15/01/2015 09:53

Aww bless

forago · 15/01/2015 09:53

I'm sure you're right :) - its for the lifestyle innit

Sparklingbrook · 15/01/2015 09:53

Oh FGS. They aren't going anywhere are they?

floellabenjaminsearrings · 15/01/2015 09:54

I can't remember the exact figures for his potential earnings, but if they forgo the dream house for 18 months, while he is doing his retraining, then they should be able to afford it.

askyfullofstars · 15/01/2015 09:54

forago Grin

punter · 15/01/2015 09:54

so the kids get to feed a giraffe in a zoo and the eldest seems to think his mates will be so jealous. A giraffe is not indigenous to Oz and you can feed animals in any UK zoo! I want one person one day to tear up that silly placard they turn over and over again..

LoisWilkerson15 · 15/01/2015 09:55

Yes I saw that episode with the heating engineer and was amazed he hadn't worked out heating isn't really needed in oz! Todays family surely wont go.

dillite · 15/01/2015 09:55

They never feature the giant bugs, snakes, spiders and everything else that is always trying to kill you.

Sparklingbrook · 15/01/2015 09:56
susiedaisy · 15/01/2015 09:56

What qualifications does Zoe have?? Is she a registered nurse or a carer with an nvq??

askyfullofstars · 15/01/2015 09:56

That moment when they realise their family will all be so far away.....like thats the first time they realise that...
