I dunno. The writes and show runners are male but not all that young, I don't think. And the producer is a woman in her 40s/50s.

I'm pretty sure she's toast but we'll see!

ginnycreeper5 · 04/11/2014 19:51

The writers and show runners are male but not all that young

That won't make any difference. Middle aged men don't seem to like Middle aged women much. Carol will be toast because of this fact.

They will keep the young totty to draw in the male viewers.

Like I said. I hope they aren't too predictable and end up keeping both women.

ginnycreeper5 · 04/11/2014 19:53

Although, they have bumped off all the older men in the series. Hershel and Camper Van Guy. So looks like they are fair in their agism. Grin

CheerfulYank · 04/11/2014 19:59

Oh Dale :(

rallytog1 · 04/11/2014 20:08

I reckon she's toast too. She's got a burgeoning musical career to concentrate on...

RudeBarbandCustard · 04/11/2014 21:15

Hmm I quite liked this episode. It wasn't where I expected Beth to end up at all - thought the cross on the car was something religious, and we'd find her tied up in a creepy church or something. So it was a real shock to find her in the hospital.

Here's what I think has happened. Daryl and Carol came across the young lad that escaped - did you say his name was Noah? - and he tells them where Beth is. They go recce the place, and decide they need to go back to Rick and the group for backup.

(I don't think Michonne recognized anyone - I think the smile was for Daryl. If Noah was someone she knew from before, surely she would have shown more emotion than just a smile)

The group all go back there (although just wondering how far they've actually wandered from Atlanta.... maybe not feasible?) and then, dun, dun Duuuuuuun...

Rick - being a sheriff and all - recognizes scary cop lady. Maybe he worked with her??

Just throwing that idea out there.

RudeBarbandCustard · 04/11/2014 21:17

Also agree that it's a real shame they didn't cast a real teen for Beth's character. I've always found it hard to place her age, and hence found her acting too young for a twentysomething like I thought she was (and is in real life). A real teen would have been far more believable.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 04/11/2014 21:21

I think it's been about a week between the prison falling and the breakout at terminus. All the episodes focusing on each group of survivors happened at the same time. Daryl and Beth found the spot in the woods where Lizzie and Mika had picked the grapes. Then they found the walkers by the railway line that Tyrese tried to help, when Carol showed up. They only spent a night or two out by themselves before Daryl found Rick and then they found terminus. Now they've spent a night or two at the church. Meanwhile Beth has been in the hospital at the same time. They all look very similar. Between the farm and the prison they'd been on the road all winter, from season two to season three, and from season three to four they'd settled in the prison and grown crops etc. From season four to five it's only been a few days so far.

Can you tell I'm a bit obsessed by this program? Grin

guaranteedpersonality · 04/11/2014 21:45

That's how I see the timeline also Adorabella.

I read they cast Beth with an older actress because they were shocked by how quickly Carl aged/changed in real life in a year and that made it look as though much more time had passed than they wanted. The timeline is more compacted than his aging indicates.

The problem with that is I think that everyone else cast is the ' right' age so it's hard to accept she's a teen (as opposed to say 90210 where they were all about 50 playing 16 year olds Wink).

They can't make Noah related to Morgan or Michonne surely - a programme that has received as much criticism as it has for killing a black character before a new one is 'allowed' on cannot fall into the 'all black people are related' cliche.

AliOh · 04/11/2014 21:48

I agree MsAdorabelle, I don't think much time has passed at all between season 4 and 5.

I think Beth is definitely going to be killed off. I feel like there is more to the hospital storyline though. The whole thing with them eating guinea pig made me wonder if they are experimenting on people in some way.

Also at the end of ep 3, Abraham gave Rick a map and at the bottom he wrote 'the new world is gonna need Rick grimes' this really stood out for me. I feel like Morgan is somehow going to come across the map and find Rick and co :D

ginnycreeper5 · 04/11/2014 23:07

I think that Daryl & Carol found Noah.
They then hatched a plan -whereby Carol would pretend to be injured/unconscious, so as to gain entry to the hospital and rescue Beth! could happen Hmm

ginnycreeper5 · 04/11/2014 23:08

And then Daryl will 'cover' them as they both escape from the hospital.

BumGravy · 04/11/2014 23:36

I have been watching TWD since it started, I am now watching on rainiertamayo.com
One thing that annoys me is how they haven't made a DIY sling for the baby?

I think Carol has been run over on purpose by the cops - which is what I think they did to Beth I don't believe they rescued her from a walker - then she has been captured and taken to the hospital. Daryl has witnessed this, scouts around looking for a way to rescue her, finds Noah, learns about the running of the hospital, maybe Beth and goes back to the group with Noah for back up.

If it was planned (Carol as a trojan horse) I don't think Daryl would leave her to go back to the church surely? Unless maybe ginny you think it was Beth in the bushes with Daryl?

Has anyone noticed how they never use the word Zombie? It's walker or rotter or undead etc

guaranteedpersonality · 05/11/2014 01:04

I cried when I first saw that PreciousBane. At the time my daughter was about the same age as the baby in it and oh I sobbed. I thought it was quite amazing and as I read somewhere an excellent ad for babywearing.

AWimbaWay · 05/11/2014 08:10

Just remembered I meant to recommend a book on here, some of you have probably read already but I really enjoyed it, The Girl With All The Gifts by M. R. Carey.

AWimbaWay · 05/11/2014 08:13

I like your rescue theory ginnycreeper5

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/11/2014 08:45

My timeline is baby Judith

9mths preg and JUDITH is about a year now so from s1 I would say we are in 21mths

Carol seemed to vanish for ages - but Prob only a few days since s4 and this one

No one ever has a birthday in twd but most would have had 2 by now - according to Judith timescale

BeyondPreparedForHell · 05/11/2014 08:52

I wonder how well they are keeping track of the date to know about birthdays though? I'm bad enough with it now, with it on my ipad and phone screen every day Grin

I reckon they are attacking the women/doctor/people they want to take them in. My guess with carol is that carol and darryl met up with noah who told them, maybe there is a particular area where they go to 'hunt'. Carol (having been on her own before and more than capable) went off to get caught, while darryl took noah back to the church ready to break them out. but being carol and effing awesome, i reckon she'll break out before they manage to get in to get her oh and I reckon beth dies in the msf, after they go to loads of effort to save her. Possibly even after they save her.

ZebraZeebra · 05/11/2014 09:39

When the prison first fell Rick was in a really bad way, wasn't he? It looked like him and Carl spent a few days in that house before that gang - the one that ended up trying to rape Carl - broke into the house and Rick had to escape from. So then conceivably it could have been four or five days of getting to Terminus with Michonne and being imprisoned.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/11/2014 09:42

Birthdays and Christmas (again least one xmas wihld have happened) would keep me going Grin

IdaBlankenship · 05/11/2014 09:42

Yes, Daryl has to be aware of what has happened, there is no way he would just let Carol go off on her own again after her banishment.
I reckon she is playing sick to get on the inside. Daryl and Noah have gone to get back-up and then will go an unleash hell on the hospital and rescue Beth, Carol and the guinea pigs! They are all too cynical and distrustful now to just take any group on face value - they will assume foul play from the offset.

Rollergirl1 · 05/11/2014 09:48

I'm not convinced that it's only a few weeks from them escaping the prison to now. As Blondes says I always tend to use Judith as my measure. I still have all of TWD from the second part of season 4 still recorded and I just had a look and Judith looks significantly younger and smaller, although I suppose you could argue that that is just down to the gap in time between filming Series 4 and 5.

IdaBlankenship · 05/11/2014 10:01

Well, Daryl and Beth were camping in the woods for over a week at a guesstimate (at least 2 nights in the woods, 1 night in the boot of the car, the funeral home, the shack), then Daryl was with the claimed group for a few nights before he met Rick, they spent a couple of nights at Terminus before it all went kaboom. Then at least 1 night at the church. So it is conceivable that Beth has been at the hospital for less than a fortnight, which is about time to recover, explore a bit, become uneasy and try to escape.
Does that work as a timeline?
