Can you tell I am excited? Grin

I have five words.

DO. NOT. KILL. THE. BABY.

Or Glenn.
However please feel free to kill off annoying soppy Beth. Quickly.

I can't link on my phone but I just went on YouTube and searched for the episode 5 trailer. I will have another look to see if I can find the exact wording for the extended one.

EpitomeOfFrump · 03/11/2014 22:52

there is walking dead season 5x05 sneak peek #1 and #2.

EpitomeOfFrump · 03/11/2014 22:56

I have also found a 3rd trailer with Glen and Eugene talking. I will shut up now!

CheerfulYank · 04/11/2014 00:36

I agree that it's Noah.

I don't hate Beth as a character, she's okay. But Emily Kinney is not strong enough to hold an episode on her own, she just isn't.

CheerfulYank · 04/11/2014 00:38

And I agree with whoever said knowing that she's 29 takes you out.

If they'd cast a real life 16 year old in the beginning there'd be none of this Bethyl crap, I guarantee it. Angry

laraeo · 04/11/2014 02:05

I'm in the minority for liking this episode.

I've been wondering about what was happening in Atlanta for a while. We know it's been bombed but other than that one episode from season1 (I think) that has the bit in the retirement home, we've been in suburbs/exurbs/ or rural areas.

Beth isn't my favorite character either but she's probably the only one who would have gone along with indentured servitude at least for a little while. Once she had the lay of the land and an opportunity she acted. Not exactly successfully, but she did do something.

Point is, I liked it and was happy for a change of scene.

I am curious where they were getting supplies like fuel for the cars. Something's still happening in Atlanta.

guaranteedpersonality · 04/11/2014 02:06

I liked it - and liked Beth in it. I much prefer ensemble episodes but it was enjoyable.

I don't think Dawn was right about Beth at all - all the characters save each other from zombies. Is Noah useless because Beth saved him?

guaranteedpersonality · 04/11/2014 02:18

I thought Glen's one liner to Eugene in the preview for next week was hilarious.

rallytog1 · 04/11/2014 07:37

Interesting point about Michonne smiling... Noah said he had an uncle in Atlanta. Is there any chance that Michonne's husband was Noah's uncle, hence she recognised him?

ZebraZeebra · 04/11/2014 07:41

I liked it as an episode, though Beth isn't my favourite character. But to be fair to her - someone had taken her, broken her wrist and bust her up and she was STILL grappling with a walker when Dawn et al found her.

I quite like the slow burn episodes as a balance to all the tension at the end of season four (where I was mostly terrified for Judith), Terminus, being eaten and busting out/ being rescued. I'm 23 weeks - I can't take all the excitement Grin

ZebraZeebra · 04/11/2014 07:44

It's so sad what happened with Michonne, her son because of her husband - and their mate as well.

MirrorMirror · 04/11/2014 08:32

It was strange to see everybody so clean! The contrast between Rick and his group and the hospital group was strange like it was a different programme! I really liked Noah and I'm hoping he is with Daryl. Looking forward to Carol taking on that police woman.

rallytog1 · 04/11/2014 08:56

I'm confused Zebra! Wasn't the subtext of that episode that they are not in fact rescuing people, but are kidnapping them and making them think they've been rescued? So I didn't think they did find Beth with a walker... Or am I missing something? I found that whole episode incredibly confusing.

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/11/2014 09:28

Frump. Thanks. I thought that was a bloke pmsl

Rally. Me too. We saw the cars that 'kidnapped' Beth and again would like a timescale from When she got stolen to now

It's like they steal people then pretend they saved them to make them grateful and work in the hospital

Which is amazing and clean

Don't think in our ramblings se mentioned staying in a hospital - it's like a prison ie all locked doors

They also had electricity so who is paying the bills /distributing it

AWimbaWay · 04/11/2014 09:28

rallytog1 I think Zebra means Beth was grappling with a walker when they recaptured her at the end of the latest episode as Noah escapes.

laraeo · 04/11/2014 10:42

The hospital is running on emergency generators. Presumably diesel fuel. Which does beg the question as to how they're getting the fuel to run them. I thought ordinary gas pumps require electricity to pump fuel. Maybe they found a diesel truck or are somehow siphoning it.

Conceivably there could be some solar power but I didn't notice any panels on the roof.

If they only have to power one or two floors they might be okay. It didn't seem as if they had the A/C on full blast and they don't have an ICU going.

ginnycreeper5 · 04/11/2014 10:48

Could Noah be the son from the first series? (the ages would match, because it's been a couple of years since first series?)

We never got to know what really happened to him. The father gave an account when he was 'crazy'.
Also, the characters often change their names when they're captured.

hildasmuriel · 04/11/2014 10:51

Been lurking on here so hope I can join in but I think there is more to it about Beth being taken. From memory we just saw her going from the cottage where she had been with Daryl but they said they found her surrounded by 'rotters' (at least I think that's what they called them). We know it was them as we saw the cars with crosses on so I don't believe they found Beth in danger.

Maybe they really are another group that started out good but will do anything to survive. The story of the Dr was interesting as he put his own safety above saving the other Dr and he seemed one of the good guys!

Hope Carol sorts them and Beth is growing on me.

On another note if the walkers reach Downton Abbey or suchlike then I definitely think they should be called rotters. The Dowager Duchess referring to the impudence of a bunch of 'rotters' invading her dinner parties would be a great spin off.

RufusTheReindeer · 04/11/2014 11:01

rally-

I hope your theory about Noah and Michonne is true, wouldn't that be lovely!!

Not enough "aahhed lovely" bits in the Walking Dead IMHO (except when Daryl is around...although please god find a pair of scissors man!!!!)

Monroe · 04/11/2014 11:20

I thought when Michonne was smiling it was when Daryl came out of the trees. I didn't think we saw her reaction to whoever else was there?

I thought Michonne 's son was only a toddler when the walkers took over according to the flash backs.

I was confused by that episode as well. I got that they were holding people and having them work but we didn't really get a sense of how many people were there. And We're they just keeping them as slaves so they didn't have to do anything or was there something else going on?

Canidae · 04/11/2014 11:35

Ginnycreeper5 Do you mean Morgan's son? Dwayne? Morgan told Rick that Dwayne had been killed by his mother.

ZebraZeebra · 04/11/2014 11:37

Ahh sorry I was confusing things. I didn't link that they had the black cars with crosses.

So they kidnapped her, beat her up, broke her wrist - if it is indeed broken, and not pretending it is to add to her debt?! - and said they rescued her.

ZebraZeebra · 04/11/2014 11:43

The broken wrist would also add a sense of fragility/weakness further imprisoning the person in their own mind do I wouldn't be surprised if they faked it.

Birra · 04/11/2014 12:23

Am I the only person who thought the timeline was going back to when we last saw Beth, way before terminus, so Carol coming in isn't now, it's when she was missing from some episodes, we still don't know her story/where she was

And there was a lot of smoke/burning in Atlanta, suggesting there's still a lot of battling so a lot more survivors.
Off to find trailer for next week!

limitedperiodonly · 04/11/2014 12:26

Which does beg the question as to how they're getting the fuel to run them. I thought ordinary gas pumps require electricity to pump fuel. Maybe they found a diesel truck or are somehow siphoning it.

In The Stand, which, as I've said before is in my OFRS Grin, one of the characters goes to petrol stations and gets petrol by finding a thing called the plug vent, which seems to be used for draining the underground tanks.

It sounded easy though I have no idea what Stephen King is talking about. But someone would. Probably one of the dodgy police officers. In that kind of job or Army I bet people have all kinds of practical skills.

I really liked the episode but I couldn't understand what their purpose was in kidnapping people and making them work off their debt, which I suppose never happens.

Maybe there is no purpose except creating more perils for the group.
