i feel very sad that women need to live in such a suppressed way in the UK BUT I understand that it is their religion/culture - i dont like it, how they live like this.

In this case the sharia court is probably a good thing for the women - as they are not legally married they have no rights under UK law other than via CSA.

I believe there is a Jewish version of sharia courts that also deal with things like divorce

I knew of Sharia courts - Ithink these are community based and run by elders who have studies Sharia law. if a muslim choses to go there and not access UK legal system then thats there choice - I think it is acccepted for minor disputes.

Sharia courts don't make legal rulings or deal with criminal stuff, I think it is more family stuff

You would hope that a sharia court, being community based would encourage the men to at least do the right thing financially by their children ( I have no idea if this is the case)

I dont understand why live in UK if not respectful of laws, not intereted in culture - that guy said he is at most at home with Morrocon wife, because of way of life the home etc.
