The futility of the rescue measures.... Just desperate.

WetAugust · 03/09/2014 21:55

"The building has created its own context"

Oh dear Kevin.

I was just wondering shy hey didn't buy a Vila in Spain and saved themselves the effort.

Another very predictable outcome

coffeeinbed · 03/09/2014 21:56

How are they going to heat it in the winter?
how are they going to clean all this glass?

mausmaus · 03/09/2014 21:56

beautiful, but maybe they should have built it on something that floats when the cliff gives way.

I wonder if this will be in the news in ruins like the medway housboat...

mausmaus · 03/09/2014 21:58

I like the balancing stones though. stunning.

I noticed that there are no curtains for the glass wall that overlooks the break in the outer wall that provides a view for the guest bedroom. I couldn't actually live in a house with that much glass, myself.

DustBunnyFarmer · 03/09/2014 22:01

Oh God, now the guest bedroom. No curtains, no blinds. No shagging for their guests then, or getting un/dressed in the bedroom. How hateful for anyone visiting who enjoys their privacy.

WetAugust · 03/09/2014 22:01

I just think they've created a lifelong worry for themselves.

DustBunnyFarmer · 03/09/2014 22:02

Aarrrgh! It gets worse - floor to ceiling window out to the coast path from the shower.

DustBunnyFarmer · 03/09/2014 22:03

I just think they've created a lifelong worry for themselves.

I agree. They will repent their folly at leisure.

Needadvice94 · 03/09/2014 22:06

Yes it's Criccieth! Saw this last week while walking along the coastal path! Gap in fence just wide enough to stick an iPhone camera through... Beautiful but completely out of place we thought - amazed they ever got planning permission though to be fair it can only be seen from the path. Remember thinking it looked exactly like something from GD!

Needadvice94 · 03/09/2014 22:09

Oh and from the back there is an odd slatted wooden fence - nosy people (ahem!) can peer through and see right into their bedroom ie the whole bed!

Missed it too

But st in channel 4 plus one just now !!!

BOFster · 03/09/2014 22:17

I'm watching this on C4+1.

Agog at them building so close to a collapsing cliff! The land seller saw them coming, eh? They must have bought the plot outright- I can't see them getting a mortgage on a patch of dissolving clay.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 03/09/2014 22:35

I'm watching on +1.

This is a real-life proof of the proverb "a fool and his money are easily parted".

The landowner must still be chuckling away that someone bought his worthless soon-to-be-non-existent land.

How can people have such a lack of imagination that they can't see the stupidity of building on a crumbling cliff?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 03/09/2014 22:53

If that place is still there in ten years I'll eat Kevin's bi-fold doors.

BOFster · 03/09/2014 22:59

Living on the edge...

DustBunnyFarmer · 03/09/2014 23:13

If that place is still there in ten years I'll eat Kevin's bi-fold doors.

Agreed. I don't know why Mr Nuts was so surprised that a storm could eat 4-5m in one go after they'd gone to the trouble of employing a coastal erosion specialist.

mistymeanour · 04/09/2014 08:39

I missed the start - was it a holiday home or their main house? Was it only 2 bed ? What about when their children come to visit?

All that metal will rust. My children were guffawing at the usual - "we can't afford x,y,z..." crap and then commissioning sculptures and bespoke kitchens when most people now can't even afford to buy a shoebox.

mausmaus · 04/09/2014 08:42

I think it was supposed to be their permanent home.
3 bedrooms, one of them on the upper floor.

Thanks Mausmaus that makes more sense

ZebraZeebra · 04/09/2014 19:16

They were glorious in their lack of grasp on reality and money!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 04/09/2014 22:20

The "Edele should be with her kids" nomination is total bollocks and shouldn't be allowed.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 04/09/2014 22:20

Sorry! Wrong thread!
