Child Genius (C4)

Anyone planning to watch this?

I was a little like these children; joined Mensa as a child, but used my ability to coast through school/university rather than to achieve anything noteworthy.

DS2 is also of this ilk. We are not doing any of the things these parents are doing, although when opportunities arise through school then obviously we let him participate.

Teamwork effort!! Shock

Sparklingbrook · 20/07/2014 21:29

FFS don't any other child drink that they will have put poison in it.

paulapantsdown · 20/07/2014 21:30

upyourninja · 20/07/2014 21:30

Grin Sparkling Grin

MamaPain · 20/07/2014 21:31

I'm watching on a little bit of delay with my mum, she is crying with laughter at Shoshanna and Sasha talking about feeling unappreciated.

WhispersOfWickedness · 20/07/2014 21:32

That's sad, Zebra Sad

TheBogQueen · 20/07/2014 21:32

Sorry this is from Twitter but:

'If that child was a genius she would have sorted her mum's hair by now"

newnametoday1 · 20/07/2014 21:32

OMG Kinesiology?!!!!

This seriously looks like abuse.

upyourninja · 20/07/2014 21:33

Aliyah's parents are probably using classic fear techniques by flashing their juicing credentials to all the other children. The bastards.

hatches secret plan to busy Aliyah out of there and bring her to a home where we don't use linguistic hypnosis techniques to deal with our children.

MamaPain · 20/07/2014 21:33

But Smartiepants, the mother said at the beginning, Aliyah is nowhere near as clever as her. She is only functioning as a genius due o their parenting Hmm

upyourninja · 20/07/2014 21:33

Brilliant bogqueen Grin

girliefriend · 20/07/2014 21:33

Wow, Sasha's work can help you 'remove the chains of co-dependency'

Erm - are you sure he's the best example??? Confused

Iffy2014 · 20/07/2014 21:34

This is scary. Those parents are freaking terrifying.

I too was a bright child, but my parents never put me through anything like this, thankfully. They sent me on things like gifted and talented summer camps and special school events and trips, but because it was FUN, not to make me a "genius".

That juice looks mostly gross.

beanandspud · 20/07/2014 21:34

Is it wrong to feel strangely proud that I got some of the maths questions right? Grin

Totally bonkers. Love the programme but I feel quite sorry for some of the children.

upyourninja · 20/07/2014 21:34

Silky skills Tudor Grin

Smartiepants79 · 20/07/2014 21:34

First genius level premiership footballer?

TheSpottedZebra · 20/07/2014 21:35

Tudor???

The MN names thread will LOVE that?

Justice Tudor?
Lord Tudor of Ovington-upon-River?
Prof. Tudor?

All works.

Pangaea · 20/07/2014 21:35

I was one of these kids. It continued all through my education, was competing in various competitions too.

However, my parents were far too 'average' to be like the parents on here.

Doctors advised them to start me in school at 2. They didn't, thankfully. I grew up at the same pace as my peers. And became a well functioning adult. I had a minor spell with drink, drugs and sex as a late teenager. But it was all over with as soon as it started.

If anything, I had no responsibilities at all as a child. I was never made to do chore whilst living at home - as I 'would be a grown up for a very long time' so I might as well doss about as a child.

I took my education to Masters level, graduating at 22. For the last year I was burnt out and very very lonely. After I finished studying, life felt normal again.

Programmes like this make me appreciate the parents I have a lot more.

upyourninja · 20/07/2014 21:35

Dear lord he's going to love the locker room environment.

WhispersOfWickedness · 20/07/2014 21:36

Grin smartie

thejoysofboys · 20/07/2014 21:36

Ooooh! Off to record on C4+1. I'm also interested as I was a bit like TheFirstOf as a child, and, although i have an Oxbridge education my northern state school background wins every time and I have a relatively normal life (mostly Grin).
Loved Shrinidi in the last series and am soooo glad my parents were not like the ones on the TV!

upyourninja · 20/07/2014 21:38

Awww Hmm

Scarletohello · 20/07/2014 21:38

Kids in bow ties. Just wrong!

ThunderbumsMum · 20/07/2014 21:38

Jesus, tudor, you're going to have to get used to that, love.
