Well, Rafa got to the second week.

Rafa has done well, I think. He hasn't had any easy draw, we said that from the beginning. But there will be no excuses from Rafa.

Provencalroseparadox · 01/07/2014 19:11

This is how we felt after we watched him last week. He is amazing

Cantdothisagain · 01/07/2014 19:11

I agree - the new era of tennis is emerging. Amazing to see.

Sad for Rafa but Nick was fantastic - hope he keeps it up.

Provencalroseparadox · 01/07/2014 19:12

That's how we felt. That he was the new and could only improve

MrsVamos · 01/07/2014 19:12

Well. Its got to be Nick all the way, hasn't it ?

OP posts:
DramaAlpaca · 01/07/2014 19:13

Well done, Nick, very impressive. He was cool as a cucumber when he served out the match.

Sorry for Rafa, but that win was well deserved.

And I agree with Raahh and RafaIsTheKingOfClay that we are watching something different to the Rosol & Darcis defeats. We are watching the new generation and it's good to see.

Itsfab · 01/07/2014 19:13

Damn, I turned overConfused.

I am not a fan of Rafa but how lovely for Nick given he is a wild card player.

JuanPotatoTwo · 01/07/2014 19:13

He looks fresh as a daisy.

MrsVamos · 01/07/2014 19:14

Nick is a good person to pass the mantle on to.

Got his head screwed on right, by the sounds of it.

Interviews well !

Lovely to see !

OP posts:
JuanPotatoTwo · 01/07/2014 19:15

Uh oh, he sounds a bit pissed off with his ma.

DramaAlpaca · 01/07/2014 19:15

I now find myself hoping that Nick is the next Boris Becker and will go on to win the whole thing as a teenager in his first Wimbledon.

Great interview, too.

Provencalroseparadox · 01/07/2014 19:15

Ooh are some of you joining me in Kamp Kyrgios

foxinthebox · 01/07/2014 19:15

What's his story with his mum??

Raahh · 01/07/2014 19:16

MrsV- Yes, Nick.

Or Grigor.

Either will do. Grin

The Aussies have waited a while for a new star. Tomic hasn't fulfilled the brief. C'mon Nick.

He definitely feels like a proper star.

But my heart belongs to Rafa, and nothing can take his achievements away.

Remember, Rafa won RG at his first attempt.....

foxinthebox · 01/07/2014 19:16

I fancy him, after hearing him speak.

JuanPotatoTwo · 01/07/2014 19:17

Don't know fox but he certainly didnt seem very happy with her just then.

foxinthebox · 01/07/2014 19:17

sorry belated Blush

MrsVamos · 01/07/2014 19:17

Yes, provencal.

Why do we get it right before the pundits do ?

I think we all need to apply for Wimby commentator jobs !

OP posts:
Raahh · 01/07/2014 19:17

Provencal i am firmly Camp Tennis. I love to see new players who are worthy of the hype. All too often, it's empty. I loved how fearless he was. Nothing whatsoever to lose.

foxinthebox · 01/07/2014 19:18

The journos will go mental looking for that story.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 01/07/2014 19:18

Totally different to last year. That was the old guard injured and far from their best being knocked out by less good players.

This year feels like those same players, playing well and being challenged by new, talented player.

Kyrgios has just leapt up the rankings from 144 to 66 according to the live ranking site.

DoctorTwo · 01/07/2014 19:19

That was an incredibly good match, so close all the way through. Probably the best of the tournament so far. I've decided I would love Eugenie Brouchard to win. And either Murray or Kyrgios...

foxinthebox · 01/07/2014 19:19

Wasn't it nice to see his sister weep?

MrsVamos · 01/07/2014 19:19

Oh yeah ! Feck ! Grigi !

Shows what a talent Nick is.

I forgot. Blush

I still day Djok for the championship. But I think Nick will come through Raonic tomorrow. Uncle Toni is preparing bread and water rations for poor Rafa :(
