Do you let your children watch television on school mornings?

DD only started this week. She had been allowed to watch Nick Jr a little bit whilst she has her breakfast. So, she gets about 5-10 minutes of TV watching max. Then it goes off (or rather DH uts the news on) and we get dressed, etc.

yes, but only when they are both ready for school. then the quicker they get ready the more they get to watch

no i dont because they dont eat their breakfast , and take ages to get ready, and i have 45 mins to get 4 kids up and out of the house.

(unless i want to get up earlier, which i dont)

if he's dressed, brushed, washed and breakfasted he is allowed to watch a bit of cbeebies if he wants to ..

I tend not to make an issue out of tv .. because the second it becomes a limited resource the more appeal it has

DS quite happy not to veg out in front of tv and will turn it off when asked

the only rule is no tv before you're ready which includes breakfast.. we never have an issue with getting ready in the mornign

same as twiglett. On a school day it's an incentive for them to get themselves ready - it's not switched on until they have had breakfast, got dressed, teeth done, shoes on and bags packed.

having said that they often don't want to watch it before school.

It drives me mad because somebody (usually ds1 or ds2) sneaks the telly on while I am busy and then the older 3 (who should be getting ready for school) just sort of glaze over. Anything I say to them has to be repeated ad infinitum before it's acted on and then they are all indignant when they are late!
It's just so counter-productive, I'm not sure why I let them get away with it!

At the moment, mine are hooked on 'Roar' on BBC - it's on from 7.30 till 8am so they watch the first half while having breakfast but then I record the rest of it as they have to upstairs and get ready.

Twiglett and Puddle, that's very sensible.

only if DD is completely ready (breakfast,teeth,hair,dressed,bag ready) so this week she hasn't seen any before school as we've not had time (still on hloiday time for getting up )

sorry, it's on from 7.30 till 8.30 so they get to watch the first half but then it goes off at 8am and I have half an hour to get them dressed which is never an issue. THey are quite happy with that.

I put the remote way up out of reach so my two can't sneak the telly on.

Yes! A bit of CBeebies while he has his breakfast. DP and I are both getting ready for work as well as ds for school, it fills a gap. We don't make a big issue of tv watching as DS doesn't spend that much time watching it anyway.

I really like some of the Cbeebies and BBC programmes. Stopped putting Milkshake on because of the level of adverts and when DS started to take an interest in them!

Used to use it an an incentive to get ready, but didn't really work and caused all sorts of other problems. This week we've put it one while we make breakfast and everyones just getting up, but once breakfast is on the table is goes off.

They get dressed, have their breakfast and then watch tv whilst I'm getting all the things done I need to do. They probably watch 15-20 mins (at the moment it's whatever's on Boomerang).

We would if she asked (once adressed etc.) but she doesn't ask and we don't suggest it.

No find it too distracting and it used to make ds whingy and awkward when we had to switch off. They can see more than enough later.

Same as LIZS. And it would clash with my "Today" programme too. Mine always want to play if they have free time in the morning - that is their incentive to get ready.

Yes on the very first morning of nursery last week- ds did not eat his breakfast as a result. By the second day I had learnt my lesson and he had to eat breakfast before Dora went on
