Oh I must have missed you mentioning that Mama - spill all! Where, when etc? What did you do when ds told him he loved Djok? Did you pretend you had no idea whose child it was? :)

Ds is in the garage but according to my peace envoy (ds1) he's thinking of coming in because he's bored and because the sausages smell nice :)

Mama1980 · 23/04/2014 17:04

I met him at the ATP in London he was practising and everyone was waiting to get signatures when he was done. He was very sweet knelt down to talk to ds, asked who he wanted to win/favourite player was and ds promptly said djokovic, cue me dying of embarrassment and wanting to run away Blush he laughed and said yes djokovic is a great player he might be his favourite too. At which point ds just had the biggest smile. He then signed loads of stuff, ds talks about it still now.
Ferrer was lovely too, signed ds's drinks bottle and then ran back to give him the tennis balls he had been practicing with. (Clearly does not have children though because despite the very lovely gesture I had to contend with ds refusing to let go of one of the tennis balls all day.....spent most of the day chasing the bloody thing around the floorGrin)
So you're not going to be sending a search party out then Wink
Bless him.
I made it to the end of the road once when I was little, then realised I didn't know the way to Nan's!

JuanPotatoTwo · 23/04/2014 17:14

That's a lovely story :). Was it at the O2? I never seem to be in the right place at the right time for signings, pictures etc. How did you know where to go to meet them?

Is Verdasco as handsome as he's generally thought to be do we think? I can see he's good looking but he does nothing for me (I'm sure he'll be gutted to hear that :) ). But as you may or may not know (cos I may have mentioned it occasionally) I like them a bit rougher and readier. Like, say. Del Potro. Oh and dh of course :)

Raahh · 23/04/2014 17:24

Juan- it was a joke about the clay, but I still wonder whether as a surface it is playing differently? Like the grass at Wimbledon plays more like a hard court than it used to?

Very Envy about your friend meeting Nadal. I have always believed he is as modest as he seems. He is certainly always the last one to blame injuries for his losses (even when the media insist on pushing that angle constantly). He doesn't seem to be one to make excuses- so the fact he has come out in interviews and said he is not feeling so confident is a big thing, really.

I suppose it gives Murray fans hope- if all the clay players are feeling off their gameGrin. He won't win RG though. Think the smart money has to be on Djok, if Nadal can't get his act together. But best Nadal gets the niggles ironed out in a small tournament, than a big one, I suppose.

Wasn't there a lot of moaning discussion from all the players last year at the French Open about how the clay wasn't right?

And there certainly was lots of angst about the clay in Naples for the Davis cup this year.

Yay, Novak Elena going to be parents :). Nice news.

Raahh · 24/04/2014 17:10

Awww, they're having a baby? Thought they were getting married? I've got my Wimbledon coloured hat all ready.. Can we be godparents? Grin

Just read the message he put on Facebook- very sweet. In 20 years his baby and Fed's new one might be rivals. Or mixed doubles partnersGrin

Wouldn't that be something?! I think he and Jelena are truly happy happy and love each other, they always seem so happy in each other's company. Will be interesting to see what effect it has on his tennis.

JuanPotatoTwo · 24/04/2014 17:46

Oh dear, I overdosed on "happy" in my last post didn't I? :)

Raahh · 24/04/2014 17:54

You are just happySmile

Am happier still now - Cilic through in Barcelona :)

Raahh · 24/04/2014 18:19

oh good- that means the Rafa match will start soon.

Vamos- hopefully he will play better today.

Raahh · 24/04/2014 19:14

Solid start for Rafa- don't knw how he plyed in person, but the score is ok. I'm slightly nervous.

First set to Rafa.

JuanPotatoTwo · 24/04/2014 19:37

Thiem lost, disappointingly. Really think he could've/should've won this. Sounds like he had his chances too. I'm beginning to think my support is a bit of a jinx - Pot disappeared off face of the earth, Thiem losing matches he should be winning at this point, Vesely having a nightmare, Ferrer very patchy. Perhaps I'll give up tennis and take to knitting.

Raahh · 24/04/2014 19:40

Nooooo- just don't start being Rafa's biggest fanGrin

I wish Dogs had done better. Am wondering if clay isn't his thing. Mind you, it doesn't seem to be doing any of the players any favoursGrin.

Raahh · 24/04/2014 19:41

You could knit some little bootees for Djok junior. In purple and green Grin

Raahh · 24/04/2014 19:42

JuanPotatoTwo · 24/04/2014 20:52

Ooh yes Raahh, that's an ace idea re the bootees. I could also do blankets, cardies, bonnets - all sorts. Now, where can I learn to knit? :)

Raahh · 24/04/2014 21:35

Nothing like stalking tennis players via the medium of knitted baby clothes. No-one will think that strange at all Grin

OP posts:
HarveySchlumpfenburger · 24/04/2014 21:47

I shall look out for that story on BBC News. Major tennis players fear stalker after being sent knitted booties.

Please, please knit some booties for Jack Sock though. Just because.

JuanPotatoTwo · 24/04/2014 22:01

This could be big, folks. This could finally be my "in" to the big boys of tennis. When I become the first person Nole, Fed etc turn to when their oh's get pregnant I will credit Raahh with the idea and Clay with the support. :). Since I've yet to so much as hold a pair of knitting needles I'll have to work my way up to Jack's socks though Clay. Grin. Are you still on your hols?
