Had the BBQ on Friday, mum's cooking a roast tonight. Have spent the day clearing out my stuff from my gran's garage. Having second thoughts about whether or not I've been a bit too ruthless with the skip pile.

Vamos Rafa for the clay court season.

Martina - in case you're wondering - "Pot" is Del Potro. I forget that we've got our own names for some of them!

I read that Rafa is having a crisis of confidence :(. But his chances for FO are good I think - Djok and Pot injured. Fed maybe absent or at least distracted. Can't imagine Murray taking it. Fognini is meant to be brill on clay but can't say he's lived up to his reputation so far. I'd like to say Gulbis too but recent form would suggest not. Wawrinka might be one to look out for. Also Ferrer if his win over Rafa has inspired confidence in him.

Clay - don't go back through the skip pile! First instincts are the ones to go with :)

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 21/04/2014 20:26

There's some nice stuff in that skip pile though. Some of it has moved into a box pile though. Thought I was going to be able to keep lessvstuff than I eventually managed so was really ruthless in the beginning.

Just catching up after a crazy busy easter. Took my 4 en masse to a national trust property today. Everyone perfectly behaved except ds2 who can now walk but due to his prem issues has muscle tone problems and so howled the second he was either picked up or fell down...I just couldn't win! Grin cue me doing a lot of distracting with Easter eggs while juggling dd2.
Wow Juan sounds like you had a great time Envy
I'm thinking wawrinka stands a good chance at RG that is if rafa can't find his mojo in time. Not his ideal surface but he's definitely been consistent enough and if djokovic is out......
Will have to see how rafa does next week a few wins and hopefully he will grow in confidence.

JuanPotatoTwo · 21/04/2014 22:18

Clay - don't go through your pile again, I forbid it! You'll end up keeping nearly everything if you think to carefully about each item. I've been there many times!

Mama, hats off to you braving a NT property today. Was it mad busy? How old is your ds2 and how prem was he? Sounds like you deserve a gin and some chocolate yourself! I did have a lovely time, thank you :)

Have any of you read the "braving my Wendy" thread in Chat? Well, I have a real life friend called Wendy who is a clinger. There was a time when I just couldn't get through a day without her either dropping in, or texting/phoning etc. She's the type not to give up so if you don't answer the door she comes round the back. If you don't answer the phone she rings and rings etc - sure you get the picture. In recent months I've managed to distance myself a bit so don't see her too often now (the problem is, when you do see her, she pins you down to the next meeting).

Anyway I went on Pot's FB earlier to check up (as you do :)) - and blow me if she isn't now following him too! I remember telling her all about him when I first developed a crush liking for his style of tennis. She'd never heard of him, and then when she did find out who he was, she decided he couldn't play tennis and was ugly as sin too boot! I know this is all very childish and is behaviour more suited to a sixteen year old, but it is so annoying! I don't want her reading what I write on there. If we suddenly get a new poster on here in the next few days - be afraid. Be very afraid Grin.

magimedi · 21/04/2014 22:30

Pesky - Woman up & tell your 'Wendy' to fuck off. (Or words to that effect).

You do not need someone like her in your life.

Why should she appear here? Are you linked from Face ache book?

'Tis the work of the devil, facebook.

Mama1980 · 21/04/2014 22:44

Would love gin Juan but still breastfeeding, but I do have a very yummy Easter egg to munch on. Smile yes it was very busy but we got there early so not too bad really, and we had a lovely picnic, the weather was glorious.
Ds2 is 16 months uncorrected, he was born at 24 weeks to the day, but the positive side to me being critically ill in hospital was that his early entrance was well planned for and he had treatment in utero and so far (frantically touches wood!) he has no medical issues except slight muscle tone issues and is developmentally on track. (There should be a little icon for me bursting with pride every time I write about him Grin)
Wow 'Wendy' sounds seriously creepy! Very odd behaviour and very annoying. Can you just totally ignore/avoid or do you have to see each other?

JuanPotatoTwo · 21/04/2014 23:06

Aww Mama, you and he sound amazing. You sound as if you had a dreadful time of it, so glad the outcome is positive. I'm not surprised you want to burst with pride, you have every reason :). The weather here today has been absolutely shite - heavy rain and even thunder at one point.

Where've you been all day then muddled? Did you master the tumble turn thing? I can't tell Wendy to fuck off - she has about a million local relatives who will come and take me out :). But I am managing to see less and less of her thank goodness. I've just remembered one farcical occasion when she rang the doorbell and I didn't answer, knowing it was her. Then she rang the phone, and I didn't answer. And then she came round the back and let herself in. I jumped onto sofa in double quick time and had to pretend to wake up all surprised and innocent. I've always kept the back door locked since then!

She won't come here, it's not her type of place. I don't think. And no, I'm not linked. I only ever go on FB to see what Pot and his mates are up to.

Mama1980 · 22/04/2014 07:21

Thanks Juan Smile yep I'm very proud of him. sorry you got the crappy weather, where abouts ish are you?
She came into your house?! That would seriously freak me out, I hope you can avoid as much as possible and she eventually gets the hint!

JuanPotatoTwo · 22/04/2014 13:26

I'm in south east Mama. It's not much better today really.

Yes, she did come in but it was quite a few years ago now. She does have a lot of good points but she's not everyone's cup of tea. I actually met her in the nursery car park one morning about fifteen years ago when our dc were at the nursery. She was crying and I went over to ask her if she was ok. She was still telling me what was wrong three hours later when it was pick up time! Although we had by then moved to a cafe!

JuanPotatoTwo · 22/04/2014 14:41

Nishikori just put out BustAGut. There's such a divide between the top ten and then the rest of them. I suppose that's stating the obvious really.

JuanPotatoTwo · 22/04/2014 16:23

Robredo through :)

Raahh · 22/04/2014 16:41

Juan- there is a huge gap, isn't there- it's good to see someo

OP posts:
Raahh · 22/04/2014 16:44

grr- dd2 knocked over my laptop-

as I was saying- good to see some of the top 30-ish finally climbing up the rankings. Though this is at the expense of those that should still be in the top 10. Tsonga, for example.

Nishikori is one I always forget about. He just always seems to be there, without ever getting very far, iyswim?

And then there is Isner. Hangs around like a dull bad smell, does Isner Grin

OP posts:
JuanPotatoTwo · 22/04/2014 17:17

Oh I like that Raahh - "dull bad smell" :). Sums him up to a tee!

Just watching Thiem (inbetween homework, tea, ferrying to rugby etc). I really rate him, his backhand is beautiful. I've also just realised he's the same age as ds1, bar eleven days. Maybe that's why I've taken a shine to him :)

Last season there was much talk of "the business end of the set". This year, the phrase seems to be "the pointy end of the set". Can't decide which saying is more annoying.

Raahh · 22/04/2014 18:05

'pointy end'?

grr. That doesn't even make sense!

Sorry, Juan, I went back through the pile. I think I'm happy now though and most of the stuff I rescued is going to other people or the charity shop tomorrow.

MakeMineAMartina · 22/04/2014 19:02

where is tv showing tennis? cant find it anywhere. on sky sports its not on till end of the week.

MakeMineAMartina · 22/04/2014 19:03

and why has a dragon emoticon just appeared? anyone know whats that about?

JuanPotatoTwo · 22/04/2014 19:14

Clay, at least you're honest so for that reason, and that reason alone, I will let you off the hook. :)

Martina I watch via TennisTv. You pay a monthly or yearly subscription. Ive forgotten again now what the fee is (last time someone asked I grossly underestimated it - can't keep a number in my head to save my life) but its not extortionate esp if you go for the yearly option. And esp if you're really keen and want to watch more of the tournaments than are generally shown on terrestrial. My dc are mostly grown (sob). Youngest two left at home are 9 and 16 so have more time to watch lots of tennis these days. Plus have just given up my pr business so even more time just now. Although I am meant to be starting up something else but we wont mention that for now :) So for me, its worth it and I only wish it had been available years ago.

Thiem won in three - so impressed by him. Dont think he'll get through his next match on Thursday but here's hoping.

Raahh · 22/04/2014 19:23

It's St George's day, hence the dragon.

Rafa, Ferrer and Dogs are all playing tomorrow- hoping Dogs does well, and Rafa starts as he means to go on.
