Does anyone else watch it? Or is it just me...

I love it because it reminds me of another life when I used to sew (before the DC's came along and before I lost the footpedal to my sewing machine in a house move).

The contestants are just so talented and I like the beardy man judge too. Anyone else?

[shrug] It's how conversation works.

difficultpickle · 08/04/2014 10:28

Owl fwiw I think the free dog pattern you posted is fabSmile

Roussette · 08/04/2014 14:40

Haven't particularly noticed any dark turns but I am beyond tired and don't have the energy to notice
Anyway, here is the link.

Three left - Chinelo, Tamara and Heather. What's everyone's gut feeling as to the winner?

Tonight's tasks are -
a man's tie.
The alteration task is turning a bridal dress into a bridesmaid's dress and
the final task is a made to measure couture gown.

Can't wait! Smile

Chinelo, because 2 out of the 3 challenges will play to her strengths.

I'm intrigued by the tie. It sounds like it ought to be so simple, so clearly it won't be!

OwlCapone · 08/04/2014 14:55

The tie is intriguing!

I love the Pin Dog I made from my charity shop pattern. I may yet unstuff him and reinforce his legs though.

Roussette · 08/04/2014 15:08

I've got a soft spot for Heather - she may not have Chinelo's raw flair, but she does have flashes of brilliance. Could be interesting.

A tie is probably a nightmare to do - a fraction out and the whole thing is skewed, this will be fun to watch I think. And it will be lined. And could be silk..

I love the Sewing Bee! Haven't managed to watch any of the episodes live though due to the baby... Am I alone in not liking Heather terribly much...? I think she is a bit safe and dull in her choices - the shift dress was so boring! It was also incredibly ill fitting I thought. I loved Lynda, she will be a big miss this week. Heather should have gone instead!!

Chinelo to win I reckon.

difficultpickle · 08/04/2014 16:37

Apparently the tie is all handsewing. I imagine Heather will win that task.

Ds is obsessed with this programme and spent most of last week making things. Unfortunately for me he doesn't quite get that you have to pin and tack before sewing so I end up doing all of that for him Brew

Is Claudia Winkleman wearing a wig or is her hair really that shiny and thick?

SunnyL · 08/04/2014 20:08

Two years!? Damn. I've only been sewing 2 years and I'm nowhere as good as chinelo

AmelieRose · 08/04/2014 20:09

I hope Chinelo wins, I love her!

AmelieRose · 08/04/2014 20:10

Mind you these challenges might not play to her strengths...

Roussette · 08/04/2014 20:12

Blimey, doesn't Tamara look like her Mum!

OP posts:
Halsall · 08/04/2014 20:12

I've got a soft spot for Heather. Never really warmed to Tamara, I'm afraid. But I too suspect Chinelo will win.

Halsall · 08/04/2014 20:14

Hmm. On second thoughts.....

iklboo · 08/04/2014 20:15

Oh Patrick is so luffly.

Roussette · 08/04/2014 20:17

I wonder how much this challenge will affect the result because Chinelo is obviously struggling hugely.

OP posts:
SunnyL · 08/04/2014 20:17

Yes I like heather too. 'A little steamette'. Snurk

OwlCapone · 08/04/2014 20:18

Chinelo really struggled with that didn't she?

I had no idea a tie was that complicated!

Oldraver · 08/04/2014 20:23

I used to have a guy who woulf bring ties into where I worked to make smaller. Neitehr of us like doing so used to hide if we saw him coming in

canutesauntie · 08/04/2014 20:23

I liked Heather comparing this to the last canter pirouette before the centre line and halt! She's my favourite now Lynda's gone. I have made a tie before but would never have attempted it in silk !

Roussette · 08/04/2014 20:24

surprised at Heather's choice of dress. It's creased so is probably silk?

catwithflowers · 08/04/2014 20:24

I am really loving Heather. They are all really talented women and I don't actually mind who wins Smile
