three, don't worry, I am a one man woman and it's Pot all the way for me (unfortunately, as I am old enough to be his mother). Never fear, Boris is safe.

raahh, your doc is speedy. Glad you have a bit of relief.

Lordy, I came over to this thread for a sensible conversation .

Slaps own wrist.

Possibly dumb question, why is AM playing elsewhere, whilst all the big names are in Dubai?

Is he being wimpish?

magimedi · 01/03/2014 22:35

Major apologies, Terror.

AM seems to have his very own agenda over where he plays - I suspect he is just saving everything to defend his Wimbledon title this year and is concentrating on that goal & no other.

Terrortree · 01/03/2014 23:04

Magimedi I do not accept apologies when I am being facetious! I just wanted to rudely interrupt with a question. Please carry on the slating with my blessing.

Thank you for the answer to my cynicism.

JuanPotatoTwo · 03/03/2014 09:11

That there's fighting talk muddled - tennis racquets at dawn?!

Terror, the players (top ones anyway) have to commit to a certain number of tournaments. For tournaments which are 500's they have to play six a year. There are more than six to chose from so they have a certain amount of leeway as to which ones to attend. I don't know the exact reason why each player chooses which tournament - guess it could be anything really, for example they prefer the location, the dates fit with their scheduling better, the location is easier to get to, they think they have a better chance of earning more points due to the rest of the draw etc.

HAPPY WORLD TENNIS DAY!!!!!

LetZygonsbeZygons · 03/03/2014 17:08

Oh my Berdych has been lovely throughout the match, as was Hewitt.

Thomas with his sparkly eyes and gorgeous gorgeous smile!!!!

Delpo fans. did anyone watch The Wright Stuff this morn?>
there was a guy on the panel, an American, didn't catch his name, but DC said 'that's Del Potro'!. it wasn't but I could see what she meant.

JuanPotatoTwo · 03/03/2014 19:56

Zygons, didn't see Wright Stuff. Do you know who the American was?

Just watching Lendl v Cash at Earls Court (that is they're at Earls Court not me). Never liked Cash.

I'm going to whisper this next bit < something about Berdych reminds me of Pistorius >.

JuanPotatoTwo · 03/03/2014 20:35

Cash wins. Good job they only played eight games, think one of them might have expired if it had gone on for longer.

Jaun How very dare you!!!!! I love him cos he looks like Mark Hamill in his youth! plus he dedicated his timo that match as hed just won in Dubai and this was an exhibition thing in Hong Kong and he could have decklined from tiredness or something, but no, he made a commitment and went. very noble. others wouldn't have been so gracious. he really has risen in my estimation.

just for that ill not whisper Potato reminds me of simon the ogre from the Thompson (or whatever it is) ads!!!!

wanted Lendl to win. weird. used to love Cash and loath Lendl. now its the complete opposite!

Raahh · 05/03/2014 13:10

Eek! I lost the thread. Grin

Tennis

Indian Wells draw

Again- not a great draw for Nadal, but it didn't stop him getting through in the Aussie, so hopefully no upsets here either.

Del Potato could potentially meet Feliciano Lopez next- not ideal, he can have good days. Fingers crossed Delpo stays fit- I'd love to see him do well in this .

Refreshing finger is limbering up (and i am going to make sure I check if any is on the tv!).

Shock Grin pictures on the tennis thread. There'll be no stopping us now. I can see the thread becoming full quite quickly.

JuanPotatoTwo · 06/03/2014 17:02

We've gone very quiet lately haven't we, wonder where everyone is?

I didn't know we could do pics either, can only be a good move! I'm really surprised Pot is playing here, thought he would take time out to get his wrist sorted properly. Hope it doesn't prove a costly and painful decision for him.

Zygons, Im sure that, despite any physical resemblance, Berdych is much nicer than Pistorius (he'd have to go a long way not to be really wouldn't he?!)

Looking forward to some tennis. Wonder if Stan will perform well.

I'm in Indian Wells, doing some massage for 'someone' Grin

Sadly I don't get to see IW as have not got Sky or Eurosport.

Conscious decision as with DH & me being retired we'd end up watching far too much TV - not good.

LetZygonsbeZygons · 06/03/2014 17:43

Magi your actually seriously THERE? cool.

BTW Juan well done for getting Queens tickets, forgot to say that last post!

watched Sampras/Agassi the other day on the world day. neither are aging well are they (and yes, I can talk!)

Im sorry, but Sampras gives rise to the Darwin theory! even Agassi said something similar years ago!

Raahh · 06/03/2014 19:54

Ferrer isn't playing at IW. That makes me sad. Sad

magimedi · 06/03/2014 20:00

Zygons I'd have thought you'd know by now not to believe a word that muddled says. She lives in a fantasy world all on her own.

Sad

have just read Elena Baltacha has liver cancer.

LetZygonsbeZygons · 07/03/2014 17:15

Raah was about to say the same. just heard on the news. poor girl. shes struggled so much with injuries and illnesses.

Hope she gets a good result likeRoss Hutchins.

magimedi · 07/03/2014 17:26

I was also coming here to say that.

I feel so sorry for her.

Raahh · 07/03/2014 17:32

I really feel for her, though I think she had liver problems as a child too. Her career never really went to plan.

It's strange, because when i first saw her name, I thought it was going to be in connection with the trouble in Ukraine, as that is where she's originally from.

Wishing her a very speedy recover, and a healthy future.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 07/03/2014 19:57

Just seen the news about Baltacha and come straight here. I think you have all said everything I wanted to.

Wishing her all the best.
