Have any of ye been to the North West 200 ? Could be a good 'starter' for a novice spectator planning to go to the TT, you get an idea of how watching road racing works but you are not as 'marrooned' in it all as you would be at the TT.

I usually go to the NW200 (my parents live very near York corner, if you know the course)

A few years back, after the racing was over, we were walking past the pits, and a blue tranist van emerged, driven by GM, and he was chatting to the policewoman controlling the traffic. He said summat like "Ey up lass, dunt tha know ah got t'ferry t'catch?"

I went to UUC,lived just off University Corner for 3 years. Perfect way to watch racing, you can tootle home for the loo and a cuppa on the quiet bits !

Guy Martin yes please, he's a real man and he seems like decent man which is hard to come by these days. I think I love him x

He is lovely, but he doesn't shower for days and days or change his undies which I find rather off putting.
Although the episode of Speed doing the mountain climb where he chats up a girl, gets all excited and says "she might be my future wife!" was very sweet....

I bought DH Guy's autobiography for Christmas. I have spent every evening sitting in bed next to a huge picture of Guy's face covered in dirt while DH read his book.

Rather disappointed when DH finished it....

Anyway, he said it was very good...

I thought he came across as a bit lot sexist in the gravity racer thing he did. He had a technical team of female engineers and his main focus was that they were "smashers" and the French woman who was very accomplished in the sport and there to give him coaching & advice was just told to "say something in French" [she speaks french], he then practically salivates and "that'll do for me". .

I also have it on good authority (from DH, as he was reading the autobiography) that our lovely Guy is a massive soap dodger and doesn't change his pants.

I've also heard him proudly announcing on one of his shows that he 'slept in the van, had a wank' ... like it's a perfectly normal thing to disclose on national TV.

I still love him though. Nothing a good hot scrub wouldn't sort out.
