I just watched it after recording it over xmas. I also feel a bit disappointed, like the ending of Lost; not to my taste. I was actually considering buying the DVD boxset when it comes out but not sure I will bother now.

As an ending, I think them all dying would have been okay and I was expecting that before watching it but I don't think it was executed (hoho) well.

It's a shame because I really enjoyed series 1-3 and you only get this deflated feeling after investing time and attention in something for a while. That's why the ending to Lost was so crap - it's okay if the end of a film is like that because you've only wasted a couple of hours but after 5 series of Lost, you almost feel betrayed or deceived when they couldn't come up with anything better. It's only TV but I think that's the basis of the extra level of dissatisfaction you get after a shit ending to something like this.

monstrous yes I think you have hit the nail on the head with this, it is the time invested in it which made it so disappointing.

Tbh, I think a better ending would have been to show them having their heads covered, the screen in total darkness and then 4 gunshots being heard. The 'spiritual' end bit was just nonsense!

StealthPolarBear · 04/01/2014 22:44

I have googled and people say they were shot on the beach and the rest was just their 'afterlife' with them ending in hell. But that doesn't explain the multiple Tiny blairs. My own thinking was that much of the last couple of episodes was Jon Simm's hallucination - the multiple Tinys, seeing himself. Because ultimately he did it to himself.that doesn't really answer it though. Near the end I said to DH "I hope this isn't going to go all supernatural like Life on Mars"Apparently that poster, when translated said "Road to nowhere", which is where they ended up

Wgat was rhe arguing and fighting about? They kept going on about what great mates they were and how they were always there for each other, in reality it wouldd generally everyone thinks

Apols - c and p from other thread

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/01/2014 01:00

Think all 3s had 4 episodes so 12hrs plus s4

12hrs of brill and 2 of crap :( or maybe 13 brill and last one crap

I do feel dissapointed :(

All that wasted time

4 shots would have been the perfect ending

ha my last sentence should have been it was only a matter of time before they killed each other!

Who were the multiple Tiny Blairs?

Frozenatchristmas · 05/01/2014 19:40

And do you know what, to add to that disappointment, I watched the final part of The hangover series last night and that ending was worse!
