Title says it all :)

Will be interesting how they finally wrap this up :(

Have absolutely LOVED this programme and one of the few things on over Xmas that I want to watch

My unanswered questions are

The significance of the eye
What happened to woody's girlfriend
Who was the barmy American woman. Surely if she was CIA or FBI she would never have been there alone?
Who was the street girl/boy when Carmen was killed and what was the significance?

I think they were shot and that Baxter seeing himself as tiny Blair was a reminder that he was as bad. Them driving off the motorway (and I said to DH before it started there better be no stupid Thelma and Louise ending!) was them heading Into the afterlife.

The bit that bothers me is that the gang got their revenge but there was no ending to them, so they effectively get away with what they have done.

Also, I know Damien was tracking Carmens phone but how did they get to the beach so quickly, dig the graves and how on earth did an electric wheelchair get onto the beach.

All a bit unsatisfactory in my opinion.

spookyskeleton · 30/12/2013 08:28

frozen yep they were all my questions aswell! the eyeball was very random and seemingly for no reason Hmm

DH thought that the end bit was a dream of some sort.

I also said halfway through that their only option would be a Thelma & Louise style ending Grin

I don't like symbolic stuff as I don't understand it - I wanted a neat ending with all the loose ends tied up.

Frozenatchristmas · 30/12/2013 08:34

So did I. I hate these what if endings. It was the same as lost. I feel a bit cheated.

notimetotidy · 30/12/2013 08:41

My questions are:

  1. What did Quinn take out of the remote control when he ran back into the house?
  2. Why did he not know that the guns weren't loaded if they were in his panic room in his house?

I am annoyed at the ending. I did enjoy the series but it should have had a properly explained ending.

spookyskeleton · 30/12/2013 08:45

yes yes yes it was exactly how I felt about the ending to Lost...crock of sh*t with too many unanswered questions!

Frozenatchristmas · 30/12/2013 08:46

I felt that he didn't realise about the guns because he was in so much shock? But well remembered about the remote control.

HoHoHopelessAtNamingBabies · 30/12/2013 08:54

He took the batteries out of the tv remote to put into the remote control that opened the main gate to get the car out.

As soon as they took the guns, DH asked why haven't they checked they're loaded smart arse?

notimetotidy · 30/12/2013 09:56

HOHO - was that not the same gate that he opened to sign for the envelope for Baxter? It opened then ok.

Also what was the significance of the watch left in the gun drawer when they took the guns. And, and, and (!) there were no boxes of ammunition in the gun drawer. I still think if you had a panic room and knew people were after you that your guns would be fully loaded at all times.

I appear to be obsessed with the guns. :)

Stila · 30/12/2013 10:07

All my energy went into the last 2 mins last night , I'd forgotten about the eyeball !

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/12/2013 10:27

So basically no one like the ending then

The boy his Carmen under a blanket then hid his self

Baxters wife I think is in eastenders as wife of chef bloke cheating with Max's daughter - can't rem names today :(

Hah.

Am pleased to have found this thread.

I watched it with DH - and at the end we both just went 'huh?'

So, they got shot on the beach? And the car journey afterwards wasn't for real?

Yes, why go back to SA - when they had been told expressly not to. Although I guess they would have been tracked down wherever they were living.

MrsBradfield · 30/12/2013 23:43

Found this on Wikipedia WARNING CONTAINS SPOILERS

On Twitter, Max Beesley confirms the episode's ending from another user: The four were indeed executed on the beach, and their souls left to realise their past mistakes. The Baxter behind the Blair mask represents the four as their worst enemies, and the four drive off the bridge to Hell

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/12/2013 07:53

Then why didn't we hear 4 shots

That would have been a good ending - tho not good they died but needed to tbh

Did nurse girlfriend die?

Lady who gave back passports wasn't cia etc but think dodgy but have them their life back

Why turn up alone at villa?

Too many lose ends :(

OP posts:
spookyskeleton · 31/12/2013 08:44

Still doesn't make much sense to me, even with that explanation Confused

Were they really that evil? I don't think so, the people that they killed were by accident or self defence no?

Agree that we should have heard 4 shots which would have made it slightly more clearer that the ending was a fantasy sequence. what would have been even better would be if, when Baxter put the radio on, it was playing 'Road to Hell' Wink

HoHoHopelessAtNamingBabies · 31/12/2013 08:57

notime, if he was on foot or from house he would have used the local buttons not the remote (which will be purely for the car and kept on the dashboard). He says that's why he went back when he gets in car. I think you're meant to think he's going back into the house to check the girlfriend is dead or something significant but it's just a straightforward practical thing is juxtaposition to the events going in.

Before they go down to the beach they talk about the fact try did bad things - take the money, change the Euros (using Carmen) and ultimately sell the villa, all of which is the 'sin' of greed hence going to hell.

spookyskeleton · 31/12/2013 09:46

hoho yes I accept they weren't sin-free but compared to the drug dealers who killed them, they were not that evil.

What was the significance of the little creature that followed Rick around? That was never explained either Hmm

The list is endless...

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/12/2013 18:02

moral of story- dont fuck with drug dealers Grin

dont steal their boat/money and drive over/kill their accomplices

money is the root of all evil

Frozenatchristmas · 31/12/2013 18:04

And it still bugs me that the gang got away with it.

I had a quick read of Wikipedia and it implies that the man that Rick was friendly with whilst on community service had set him up...but that was certainly not made obvious in the programme.

However, there were numerous errors in the summary of the 2 episodes on Wikipedia (such as saying Rick got work as a gardener which he technically did but completely missed the community service aspect of it Hmm) that I am not sure whether the above is accurate or not!

Shenanagins · 02/01/2014 22:51

Finally got to watch this and still confused! I thought this was to tie up all the loose ends but i just have questions; did they die, did the bad guys get away with it, what was the eye all about, etc. Aargh!

Stila · 03/01/2014 00:06

Seeing as there is so much symbolic stuff going on , maybe the eye was a hint at they were being watched / followed ???
or not Confused

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/01/2014 00:17

We know they were followed and rem in the kitchen Baxters girlfriends phone went funny - obv tracking them

And maybe also tracking via the probation gang when he rings his officer

Still annoyed at ending of this :(

OP posts:
Stila · 03/01/2014 00:30

Yes I know we know - but I was looking at it as Rick , so a sign to him rather than us .

TukTuk · 03/01/2014 01:22

I thought maybe the dwarf zombie’ had left Rick the eyeball as a pointer . Then again the dwarf zombie himself was a big pointer to Ricks future ie: death
