Thread four here we go! Link to the last thread here.

So, Natalie's through to next week and we'll see who's going to be joining her in the Tower Ballroom Smile So much nicer than Wembley.

Thanks for the new thread Polka Blimey can you lot talk Grin!! Well at last a dance off that makes sense. Dave seems a nice person but what made him think he'd be a dancer?? I wonder if he's ever watched Strictly Grin He lacks body awareness FGS he couldn't move his arms and legs at the same time FGS!!!!

If he danced better than Mark then the same applies to Mark!!! Agree Karen's dress was lovely though;does anyone else think she comes across as fake?

I enjoyed the ProDance (the singers needed a bit more volume though).

FGS enough already with the fake sad faces at the end.

thistlelicker · 11/11/2013 09:40

Vincent is of to the jungle ShockShockShockShockShock

MsInterpret · 11/11/2013 11:16

I just watched the very end of results to see what Len said about Mark, as it was all over DS with great outrage about him 'going off on one'! What an overreaction!

Darcey did look a bit shifty about saving Mark but the others were as they usually are.

I didn't warm to Karen at the beginning last year but I think she's all right. Kevin from Grimsby can't be wrong, can he?!

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock · 11/11/2013 11:17

Thanks for the thread Polkadots!

Thank fuck Dave has gone. Wasn't funny any more.

Mark wasn't great but I think a themed rumba like that was a good decision by Iveta; they couldn't really do a properly sexy/romantic one and it's not the dance for full-out comedy.

Sophie too stiff, self-conscious, wooden legs. Nice routine though.

Ben forgettable. Fiona not bad at all and Craig was rude to her (and I LOVE Craig). Agree that Abbey was badly out of synch at times and overmarked. Ashley OK but fundamentally boring and unengaging. Agree with whoever it was that he lacks all sway and musicality. Watch Colin Jackson's quickstep for comparison.

I missed Natalie. I hope she's OK. Susanna was gorgeous but I disagree with the comment that she's better in hold/ballroom than Latin –I think she's great in both.

Patrick v good. Loved Anya's choreography. She's really impressed me with this and last week's jazzy quickstep. She seems to have tapped in to how to choreograph to bring out the best in him.

Is that all of them?

digerd · 11/11/2013 11:45

Perhaps out of our earshot Len told Darcy off as she said her decision was based on all the previous performances.

LlamateurDramatics · 11/11/2013 13:13

Late newcomer to this thread, hope you don't mind! I watched the results on iplayer this morning and was asked by my son why my 'eyes had gone leaky' Blush. I didn't particularly enjoy Dave's dancing but he seems like a thoroughly nice bloke and he and Karen seem to genuinely get on. After Saturday and last night I'm now firmly in the Susanna and Kevin camp, not only was their waltz gorgeous but he seems like a lovely man too

FushandChups · 11/11/2013 13:47

As not having a chance to watch either the main show or results, am unashamedly marking my place.

Sounds like a real mixed bag and think, despite my love for all things Iveta, if Mark was the worst in the dance off, he should've gone Sad he wouldn't have lasted much longer and would've continued the integrity of the dance off (instead of exposing it for the sham that it is Smile)

Will try & see this week on i-player in my lunch hour as i want to see SEB's AT and Susanna's dress!

FushandChups · 11/11/2013 13:49

I obviously meant 'Dave wouldn't have lasted much longer!'

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock · 11/11/2013 14:02

I didn't think Mark was worse than Dave in the dance-off, although admittedly I don't know anything about dance and didn't spot any mistakes.

TBH I think even if he did make loads of mistakes, at least he made them dancing, whereas Dave was not going to get beyond the 'stomping and making faces' stage.

EmeraldJeanie · 11/11/2013 14:10

I thought Mark just stood about making poses.
At least Dave did try dance moves rather than just be danced around.
It was the right two in the bottom two for a change though.

IHadADreamThatWasNotAllADream · 11/11/2013 15:27

I didn't think Darcey did say that her decision was based on Mark's past dances did she? I think she teetered on the edge of saying "I'm choosing Mark because of his previous dancing/future potential" but slammed the brakes in midsentence when she either realised that it was verboten or was screamed at to stop by a stage manager in her earpiece.

IHadADreamThatWasNotAllADream · 11/11/2013 15:28

I think that Len may have been technically right in his choice (much though I prefer Mark) but I disliked the way he expressed it.

AndiMac · 11/11/2013 17:16

Mark just stood about making poses, but that's kind of what the rumba is. Hardly a dance to take you across the floor.

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock · 11/11/2013 18:57

Maryz, that's a great point about parity in the dance-off. I think it should be dropped. My main reason for that opinion has always been that the judges have had their say when they score the dances and the rest should be up to the public, but I'm going to add your reasoning to my argument now Grin

I also think they should revert to all doing the same ballroom or the same Latin every week. There's no way you can make meaningful comparisons when the dances are all over the place.

digerd · 11/11/2013 18:59

I've always thought it should be on how they danced previously and especially when one man had to do the rumba, but those were always the rules and Len is a stickler for them.
Craig is looking so well and relaxed

Fiona has great bone structure. Anton doing lifts with her in their next dance.

Badvoc · 11/11/2013 19:01

Much as I wanted Dave out of the competition he danced better than mark in the dance off and iirc the final vote is on the dance off alone?
I think Len was spot on.
I agree about the comparison of dances...would be much fairer if they were all being judged on a jive and a waltz for example.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 11/11/2013 19:02

I think it's sometimes put quietly to one side in Strictly, whereas in Dancing On Ice they always said "The slate has been wiped clean, how you've danced earlier won't count against you, you are being judged purely on this dance etc.".

They don't say that every time on Strictly, so maybe don't always feel like they're doing that, even though they should be.

Lets face it even if they did bend the rules a wee bit dave a lovely man pretty rubbish to watch he wasn't even humorous least Mark puts on a performance usually and can dance a bit ,

Agree Maryz Did anyone hear\see CRH in ST2 ? He reckoned that Patrick is the best male celeb. I'm inclined to agree with him;once his wrist is completely better he'll fly IMO Grin.

CeliaFate · 12/11/2013 08:01

It was definitely time for Dave to go. I too think Abbey was way over marked. She was out of time in lots of places and it lacked any wow factor for me. Compared to Sophie's Charleston, I would have marked Abbey 7 and Sophie 9.
I loved Patrick's dance. He's just joyful to watch. Nobody blew me away though.

digerd · 12/11/2013 08:49

Susanna's dress blew me away and made her dance look beautiful. Her arms, neck, posture and expression had greatly improved.

digerd · 12/11/2013 08:52

Didn't notice her feet though.

CeliaFate · 12/11/2013 08:55

I've just looked back at previous series - Gethin Jones' salsa. That was amazing! Alesha Dixon's Cha Cha, Scott Maslin's jive. Brilliant dances that had such atmosphere. I think that's lacking a little this series.
