Are we still loving GBBO?? Who is your favourite to win? I change my mind every week, love Mel and Sue tho!! Grin

OP posts:
Chewbecca · 05/10/2013 21:50

France's IF she keeps up the substance that she showed this week to go with her style.

Kimberley 2nd.

Christine is great but not exciting enough. Beca is great but not polished enough. Ruby is just ANNOYING ( I know that's not actually relevant)

Chewbecca · 05/10/2013 21:51

And yes, I laugh out loud at Mel n Sue every week, which is always a pleasant surprise for a baking show!

bigbadbarry · 05/10/2013 22:06

Ruby, because they will have half an eye on who will sell well afterwards and go down well at the good food show and suchlike.
Agree the drooping has to stop. Paul lurves her.
I'd like Beca or Frances to win.

stringornothing · 06/10/2013 00:09

I noticed in the newsagent that one of the gossip rags has a GBBO story on the cover: "Ruby says "Shut it you slag!"" Or something like that. If anyone is going to the hairdresser/doctor's surgery in the next week can they read it and report back please?

rootypig · 06/10/2013 00:19

Kimberly is sooooo full of herself. This week I got well hacked off with all her conspiratorial master classes while she was baking. And she doesn't actually usually do that well in the technical. Anyway whoever edits it obvs doesn't like her because they keep splicing in shots of her looking grumpy when anyone else does well Grin

I think Ruby has more talent and maybe I'm naive but don't think her lack of confidence is an act. Paul's dribbling over her is revolting but not her fault.

Love Christine, especially the sense that she is at times teetering on the brink of sanity Grin

Beca isn't good enough, imo, but Frances is growing on me and the things she makes (I refuuuuuuse to say 'bakes') are improving! Was sweet to see her get star baker.

Love Bake Off Grin Grin

rootypig · 06/10/2013 00:20

INeedThatForkOff yes!!!! totally agree

She is so fecking smug.

chocoluvva · 06/10/2013 08:17

I refuuuuuse to say 'bakes'. Me too. It's very irritating.

'The 'bake' is good' indeed. Just tell the contestant they chose the correct temperature and managed to take it out of the oven at the right time.

I love Mel and Sue too. Mel is so motherly. I love the way they don't take it too seriously.

chocoluvva · 06/10/2013 08:24

I'm extremely impressed with the presentation of the baking and clever ideas. I enjoy baking, but I often have to promise that it tastes better than it looks and find one of my DC to vouch for me. Blush

I sit there on Tuesday evenings exclaiming, "Look at thaaaat. Look, quick, look! OMG where do they get their ideas from - that's amazing."

MavisGrind · 06/10/2013 08:26

Kimberly is annoying the hell out of me with her smugness. She also describes what she's doing as if she's already fronting her own programme, which grates with me.
Ruby needs to stop simpering but is a talented baker. I'd like Becca to win as she strikes me as a solid 'family' baker which no doubt spawn a post-show book

But I miss Glen and Howard. They should have been in longer. Hmm

Mummybookworm · 06/10/2013 08:27

Beca to win definitely. What was that about Kimberley asking for an upgrade Ineedthatforkoff?

Auntidote · 06/10/2013 08:33

But Mavis, Glen and Howard just weren't that good. Though they were good tv.

MavisGrind · 06/10/2013 08:42

I know, I know Auntidote. Grin

invicta · 06/10/2013 08:46

I like Frances, and maybe Becca. I liked Kimberley early on. Ruby and Christine annoy me. If I had to name one, I would go,for Frances.

neffi · 06/10/2013 09:24

I really like Becca and would like to see her win but think it will be Ruby or Kimberley.

rootypig · 06/10/2013 18:09

Kimberly is annoying the hell out of me with her smugness. She also describes what she's doing as if she's already fronting her own programme, which grates with me.

Yes yes yes Mavis, you have it there. I am not the sort of person who ever has a masterplan so I find it difficult to attribute one to others, but I do think she is using Bake Off to create her persona or something? well it's not working love, you're just not that interesting.

I'm surprised by all the Beca love here actually. She sounds like she needs to blow her nose. More importantly, I've never seen her make anything that made me think, she's very talented. Unlike Ruby and Christine and Frances and ok, ok, Kimberly.

JassyRadlett · 06/10/2013 18:32

With the editing they seem to be setting it up as a Christine/Kimberley showdown.

I don't mind Kimberley though I think she became hugely overconfident in the first few weeks. Hard to tell how much of her 'narration' is down to the producers prompting her to say what she's doing.

I think Beca's actually really settled into it - and I like Ruby and Frances as well. Christine for some reason irritates me a bit, but I can't put my finger on why.

LazyGaga · 06/10/2013 18:35

Beca really irritates me - I've noticed a few eye rolly expressions from her in the background when other people are talking about themselves. I reckon she could be a bit two faced. I don't mind Ruby; I think Paul and Sue P both have the hots for her tbh.

Christine and Mary B seem to be rubbing eachother up the wrong way in an ever so genteel, well mannered way. Kimberly is a bit full of herself and doesn't take criticism well.

I do quite like Frances, she has times when she's perched on her stool where she looks completely stoned out of her mind: I find it quite entertaining.

mignonette · 06/10/2013 18:36

I know who wins Wink because of an indiscreet employee on GBBO!. I won't tell. It has spoiled it a little for me I must say.

rootypig · 06/10/2013 18:38

Waaaaaah mignonette! I want to know! no I don't. yes I do! wah! I am the sort of person who reads the last page of a book when I am halfway through

LaurieFairyCake · 06/10/2013 18:46

If it's been decided how on earth would they keep it secret?!?

Surely it would leak out

MrsCakesPremonition · 06/10/2013 18:52

The same way they keep the winner of masterchef secret - by making everyone sign to promise they will keep mum.

LaurieFairyCake · 06/10/2013 18:55

Really? Confused

I'm really surprised since this country is leakier than a sieve

You can't keep anything secret never mind a baking show winner!

harryhausen · 06/10/2013 19:09

Becca for me.

Kimberly is getting too cocky by saying things like "oh this is quite straight forward" and "this is simply X or Y by another name" in the technical.

Ruby's 'clueless' doe-eyed kookiness is grating on me.

mignonette · 06/10/2013 19:23

They haven't kept it secret because I know. I won't tell you Rooty because I too am a last page of the book reader/Christmas gift rattler but it has spoiled it for me and it will you.

rootypig · 06/10/2013 19:56

Very very wise mignonette. I will be thinking about it for the next four weeks
