Radio Times had a big article on the contestants in finals week and the cover was a big glossy picture of the four of them, inc Beca, done up to the nines. I didn't recognise Frances or Beca. They looked fantastic but agree that it wouldn't be done to male finalists

Totally contrary interview w/ Ruby by Grace Dent in this weeks Grazia. Focuses upon the abuse ruby endured, the nature of it and the focus upon her looks and demeanor and how she handled it. Also discusses her feminism and Guardian leader. Now I know that one shouldn't expect too much of Grazia but Ms Dent does like to self style as a Feminist and criticise those of a lesser Feminist persuasion than her.

Then Dent goes on to describe Ruby's physical appearance and manages to shoe horn a guess at what clothing size she takes. In fact, a lot of the interview is about Ruby's looks and demeanor.

Way to go Dent! Yet another contradictory, lazy bottom feeding interview that basically frames a bright, ambitious and brave Woman within the context of her body.

it is very hypocritical considering the prominence given to feminist thinking and the sniggering at non feminist criticism by Dent who then displays this astonishing hypocrisy.

It is a short read so you can probably read it in two minutes at the supermarket - no need to waste £2!

On a separate note, Mr PH seems to have realised that his career is going south and has announced he's going back to his wife.

Am I being cynical thinking the two facts are related?

I think I read she's writing a cookbook and moving on; I hope she makes the right decision for her, after all the public humiliation.

Not cynical- more like astute.

I dislike him. He is the kind of 'Alpha male' who you instinctively feel is disparaging of women and sees them in a very one dimensional manner.

Well it was 4 tiers and every other tier was too small (they didn't match up IFYSWIM). The amount of butter in those brioches .

Yes I think so, notice they don't mention how long it takes them to do their bakes! I suppose it would take longer than a whole weekend if they gave the contestants realistic times!

Article about Ruby in today's Telegraph Weekend section which I've failed to find online. She comes across as absolutely lovely (I found her really irritating on GBBO but completely different reading her words).

I hope the Telegraph article doesn't focus upon her appearance as the Grace Dent one did last week in Grazia where Dent guesses at her dress size as well. This was after the first half of the article's derision at the focus upon Ruby's looks during GBBO. I don't expect any better from Grazia but Dent wears her credentials as a Feminist on her sleeve.

mignonnette There a lot of stupid journos about whatever they call themselves ! IMO Ruby's attitude to her appearance was refreshingly low key. Sadly she wore her feelings on her face which annoyed a lot of viewers ;some calling her fake, which she isn',t I'm glad she didn't win because it would 've enraged them.

No it is the 'What's your perfect weekend' article so no focus on appearance at all and it is written in her own words (or is made to appear as such).
