It was a slow starter but I'm now totally gripped.

I'm surprised that there seem to be so few people watching it.

Surely it having Cillian Murphy and Paul Anderson in it should be enough?

Rollergirl, I think grace had given the detective the date of the take-over ages beforehand when Tommy wrote the black star in the diary. This was before anything had happened between grace and Tommy. She couldn't stop it then and that's why she was asking for the deal with the detective at the graveside where they found the guns - she asked that he would spare Tommy.

I didn't think it was slow at all. I loved it. And will be waiting for the next series!

And Freddie joined them because Tommy got him released from prison and then staged the ambush of the police van. Plus he was accepted as part of the family as he was married to Ada.

I liked it. And I likes how it was left ambiguous as to what happened at the end.

Meant I agreed with Redmayneslips. Didn't realise using ^^ made writing italics!

But things had already happened between them. Tommy took Grace to the races where he tried to strike up a deal with Billy and that was when Billy tried to rape her and Tommy came to her rescue. The date could have only been arranged after that and she was already emotionally involved by then so why would she have told Sam Neil? Although having said that I think it was also GRace that told the police about where to find FReddie when the baby was born.

But anyway, semantics. I really enjoyed the series. Is there definitely another one being made?

I posted on the early thread about this series where I said I was worried they'd make a mess of the accents. We'll, they did. I think they just go overboard with what they think it sounds like.

But, I did enjoy the series other than the accents & the overuse of slo mo walking. It really picked up in the last 3 episodes & it was great having a series based in Brum. I hope it gets another series.

Rollergirl1 I think although Grace liked Tommy she was still doing a job so had a duty to report. She was the one who got Freddie arrested, pretty sure that was after the races too. I think she then got in too deep, which is why she tried to bargain with Sam Neil at the grave. Also in the last episode she went to the gallery to meet Sam Neil and the chief policeman met her instead with the letter (and also called her a whore).

I have a theory about what happened at the end... I think Tommy came down the steps and blew Sam Neil's head off.

OOh VenusStarr I'm loving that idea. Though I think I'd like Grace to go and Sam Neill to stay. His pyschopath turn is quite entertaining.

Venus, that's what I'm hoping too. Loved this series despite the awful accents!

We watched episode 2 having missed the first one because DW has always had a thing for Sam Neill - we couldn't get into it though, although I did find the rather modern style and music rather appealing....

I really really enjoyed the last 3 episodes of this. Can't wait for S2.

I think Grace pulled the gun out of her handbag and shot him herself (although can't be fatal surely if there is to be another series). I like the strong female characters in it.

I really liked this series tbh, liked all the western-like slow motion walking, grimy sets, music and could cope with the accents - some were pretty good (more so the minor characters!)
