Accidentally filled up the last thread without realising.

Have the day off today so can sit and watch the tennis scores update.

We still have Tennis Tennis too.

ClayDavis · 04/11/2013 02:37

Oh. It worked. Was just testing.

NewGirlInTown · 04/11/2013 05:02

Yes, they are all staying there. Since the tournament moved to the O2 four years age that has been the base. The ATP has its own boat for shuttling players and officials, plus media.
Do you know there is also a Fan Zone once you are in the O2 complex? Head there first as there is a practice court and lots of player related activities. I hope you have a great day!

JuanPotatoTwo · 04/11/2013 16:25

I did know about the Fanzone NewGirl, thanks.

Er, I have booked to stay in the Marriott on Friday night Blush. Pot will be perfectly safe though as I have ds1 to keep me out of trouble! Actually, in all seriousness, if I so much as catch a glimpse of any of the players I will run a mile.

Raahh · 04/11/2013 16:38

Just don't call him PotatoGrin

Mind you, it's better that Del Pow-trow or whatever McEnroe kept calling him!

ClayDavis · 04/11/2013 16:40

I think it was Del Poncho at some point.

Raahh · 04/11/2013 16:41

Grin Del Poncho.

Tennis

Looks like Stan has won his first match.

BurlyShassey · 04/11/2013 17:19

IS Henman on Helium?

glad you skyless people get to see some tennis but theyre showing the other matches tonight on sky sports.. not BBC?

much prefer Greg and Boris on sky sports than castle and helium henman on BBC!!

NewGirlInTown · 04/11/2013 18:48

JuanPotato, we will keep an eye out for news reports of stalking at the Marriott! :-)
If you just keep going up and down in the lift, statistically you are bound too see him at least once!

JuanPotatoTwo · 05/11/2013 18:47

So, Raahh, how are you?! Did he get off ok? Have you taken to the wine to console yourself or are you bearing up so far? What time did they take off?

NewGirl, maybe they have "tennis player only lifts" to prevent people like me camping out in them! On the one hand I'll be so disappointed if I don't see him. On the other hand, if I do see him, I will be too shy to do more than glance briefly in his direction and pretend i haven't seen him! When I was younger and fancied people, either I would run in the opposite direction if I saw the object of my affection approaching, or else I would be so embarrassed and shy I wouldn't get a word out, or else I would try and be cool and they would end up thinking I hated them. I fear that fundamentally I have never changed, and the cool sophisticated woman of the world I once thought I would be will never now materialise!

Haven't seen much tennis yesterday or today, have you folks? I worked out last night that Pot won't be playing on Friday. Was disappointed but resigned. Then dh rang me mid-morning to say he'd booked tickets for me and ds to stay and watch all day Saturday as a birthday present! I feel very lucky, and please can you all remind me of this in future when I complain about anything? Seriously, we can ill afford it, but dh was so adamant that I should have something I really wanted for a change it quite brought a tear to my eye.

Hope everyone is ok and having a good week so far.

ClayDavis · 05/11/2013 19:00

That's really sweet of your DH, Juan. I think you'll be OK with the lift thing. It's so out there I don't think they'll have thought that anyone would do it.

Having been massively surprised that my appraisal and occ health appointments didn't go badly last week. I am now having a terrible week so far. All of which is my fault so I don't even have anyone else to blame. Grin

Hope you're doing OK Raahh. Have some Cake and Wine.

Raahh · 05/11/2013 19:28

I haven't seen any tennis- pretty rubbish since this is the first time in ages I'd have had the opportunity. Grin

Took ds to the airport at 5.30 am, all the kids were super excited, and the parent looked apprehensiveGrin. had a few tears last night, though (from him not me, I've been ok so far.) But I didn't sleep at all from worrying about stuff and dh's snoring.

We got a photo sent through e-mail a couple of hours back to say they had arrived in Abu Dhabi, with a lovely picture of them all. They should now be on their way to Shanghai. I will just be happy when they are safely in Nanjiing ( about 10am tomorrow morning.) .It's a very long trip- 26 hours including airport stops and coach transfer.

The tennis is on iplayer, Raahh. Am watching Nadal v Ferrer now.

LetZygonsbeZygons · 05/11/2013 19:55

Hi. BTW Andy Murrays on jonathan ross show at the weekend !!

Raahh · 05/11/2013 20:08

Thanks Clay

ClayDavis · 05/11/2013 20:44

Thanks Raahh. Take it you've read my post on the Doctors thread. Really could kick myself. The only thing I can think is I've somehow managed to leave it on the bus. My boss gets the same bus home so paid for my ticket thankfully. Not sure where I'm going to find the money to get into work tomorrow though.

She did 'helpfully' point out that if I'd lost it last week I'd have lost the old one that ran out on 1st Nov. Hmm

Raahh · 05/11/2013 20:48

Clay I did read that- it's daft in thi day and age that bus passes can't be like credit cards, really, so you can cancel them, and there is proof, so you can get replacements. They are so easily lot.

I hope it turns up.

ClayDavis · 05/11/2013 21:00

If it was a pensioners one that you swipe, I think I could. But it's just a 52 week ticket that you show the driver as you get on. It does have a number so I could give them that and get them to cancel it but as they barely look at it as it is if anyone finds it they'll almost certainly be able to use it unchallenged.

Which is why I'm not hopeful about it being handed in. I would hand it in because I know how much it's worth but I'm not sure everybody picking up a ticket that allows them unlimited free bus travel until 1st Nov next year will be so honest.

Raahh · 05/11/2013 21:49
Sad

fingers crossed, Clay

JuanPotatoTwo · 05/11/2013 22:01

Oh dear Clay, I'm guessing you've lost your bus pass? What a pain. Did you ring the bus company up?

Thanks for the info re Andy Zygones.

ClayDavis · 05/11/2013 22:35

Going to have to do that tomorrow and hope someone has handed it in. I wouldn't mind but it's £850 and I haven't got that sort of money to replace it if it isn't found.

It can only be on the bus. I had it when I got on but it was gone when I got off. I've gone 7 years without so much as misplacing one. Grrr. I had to loose the 3 day old one didn't I. Might have to practice my sad face for the local rag.

Raahh · 05/11/2013 22:58

Smile @ sadface.

Poor Roger- at least he got a set from Djoko, but couldn't maintain the momentum.

Tennis
Raahh · 06/11/2013 18:49

Nadal through today- and secure the year endnumber 1-Vamos !

Raahh · 06/11/2013 21:39

And now Ferrer has lost to BerdychSad

ClayDavis · 06/11/2013 22:34

Yay for Nadal Grinbut Sad for Ferrer.

How's your DS?

No sign of the bus pass. No-one's handed it in so I suspect they've taken it. Work saying they might not replace it even though it states in conditions that they will for a small fee. Have to go and report it as lost/missing to the police tomorrow.

Raahh · 06/11/2013 22:50

Ds should be safely tucked up in bed for another couple of hoursGrin. They got there safely, shattered I expect, and the head waited 4 hours before we got an email! Cue lots of anxious parents refreshing their pcs (was like 'watching' the tennisGrin)I feel better knowing he is now there, and Iknow he'll have a great time. I'm really proud of him.

Rubbish news about your bus passSad- If someone has taken it,it's really crap- hope you can get something sorted. Thanks
