This is distracting me from packing ds's stuff for his trip, and getting ready for a Hallowe'en/firework party I don't really want to go to

Should be an interesting final tomorrow, who'd have thought it. Do you think Pot has decamped to London already? Shall I go and look for him?! Where will he be I wonder. I've already run this idea past dd who said "but what will you do if you ind him Mum?"

Just read that Pot had checked in at Paris to come here and turned to sign an autograph when someone swiped his suitcase, with his passport, and more importantly, his rosary which he'd had blessed by the Pope :o. I'm going to offer him the services of one of my three ds's as security guard. Or maybe even dh. Poor man, stop to do someone a good turn and have your stuff nicked.

He can have my rosary. It hasn't been blessed by the Pope though. Or I don't think it has.He'd probably have died laughing if he had.

Current Pope is relatively new isn't he? Doesn't that mean the previous one died? Are you sure you didn't try to get those beads blessed?

The previous one resigned.

It was a very kind and thoughtful gift from my supervisor a few years back. But... it's made from plastic glow in the dark beads. It was nicknamed the 'glowsary' by another of my work colleagues. I don't think I could take it to get it blessed.

Couldn't get rid of it though. Means a lot that she thought to buy it for me.

I'm hoping Ferrer pulls off a mini upset- would be a huge boost to his credibility (on some forums they really don't think Ferrer is worthy of his ranking, despite his consistent results). I love his 'never say die' attitude, and the fact he proves is is possible to get to the top, post 30.

Definitely on Ferrer's side for this one.

Clay, I love the idea of glow in the dark beads! Seems a bit, um, is "sacrilegious" the right word?!

Raahh, even if you do forget something (which you won't!) he can borrow it or one of the teachers can get it. Ds1 went to do the three peaks challenge a couple of years ago - with only one walking boot (naturally, it was my fault!). One of the teachers had to take him to a nearby town to buy a new pair.

Do you use any other tennis forums other than mtf?

I look at the Federer fans forum- because the stats are interesting. It is a very biased forum, however

MTF are viscious about players they don't like. It's quite scary.

I know in my heart that ds will be fine- but I am wibbling now it is so close. Expect a lot of 'wonder what he's doing now??' over the next week and a halfHis itinerary is very full- he's going to sleep well, that's for sure. He has an absolutely brilliant teacher- she really 'gets' the kids , and she has made sure she knows every little thing about them before they go, so I've no worries there.

It's good that you know he has a good teacher. It's worse for you than him. His day will be so full he won't have any time to be doing any worrying or be homesick.

Delpo is staying at the London Marriott, former County Hall, which is the tournament hotel. Best chance of seeing the players for autographs etc is to head for the Thames Clipper boat dock at the O2. Most of them travel to and fro from hotel to O2 on the boat.

Even if he is not scheduled to play for the session you have tickets for, he will probably still come to practice so you might still see him. Good luck!

Ooh NewGirl, thank you so much for that! How exciting! How do you know - are you a fellow fanattic? I'm trying to persuade dd to hit the London scene this week so she can bump into some players and get her sad mother a way in! Sadly, she's resisting so far!

Presumably all the players are staying there then.
