who do we think will be the early favourites? Who will get to the grand finale? Who will turn most orange?

It's starting now and I am very excited...!

According to Digital Spy, Dave and Karen are dancing American Smooth next week.

BrunoMarsBar · 29/09/2013 18:30

Ahh lovely clip polkadots Missing Erin...did not warm to her in first few seasons as she seemed hellbent on winning, bit like Natalie L, when in fact both seem to be lovely. Would have liked Erin in her tenth and last year to have had a real contender even though her own latin is no great shakes but never mind. Still think Katja should be there an' all.

BrunoMarsBar · 29/09/2013 18:31

Dave and Karen and American Smooth. Hmmm
Maybe they'll gel his hair back and stick it in a pony.

digerd · 29/09/2013 18:45

Love the American smooth.Smile

Animation · 29/09/2013 18:55

I was a bit bored I must admit last night but early days I suppose.

Agree Susanne was very frenzied - it was like calm down!

FrankelInFoal · 29/09/2013 19:16

My dance teacher often says if she had her way she'd restrict the choreography to Silver level for the first few weeks. It means the celebs would have to actually learn the basics of each dance, rather than cover things up with a lot of faffing about!

CloudOfStarlings · 29/09/2013 22:51

So agree with everyone saying it should be reigned back in.. I'm always shouting 'go back to basics!!' at the tele Blush cos I like them to just get on with the dancing and keep it simple- hate all those stupid props and role playing! I also think it should only be 2 dances per week.
And also agree about Karen Hardy! She has such amazing insights on ITT - so much more interesting than Darcey (who I do like btw) the beeb missed a trick there, she's a star.

SuperiorCat · 30/09/2013 12:28

Sad Just found out that Ben Cohen is training at DD's old dance school's studio. They changed location a few months ago and we couldn't make the new place so she stopped going, otherwise I would have had a legitimate excuse to hang round and drool

saintmerryweather · 01/10/2013 07:10

i only ever watch ITT on a tuesday and wednesday to try and pick up some tips from karen and ian. its been useful so far

also am a bit surprised at whoever said that vanessa is more intelligent than deborah meaden

FrankelInFoal · 01/10/2013 07:51

I forgot ITT was on last night Blush. I'm out of the habit!

Fiderer · 01/10/2013 08:02

Was good. Craig was on it and though he didn't articulate it very well, made the point of his being a judge so having to mark the dancing and what the audience enjoy.

I like him and the "boo" that the studio audience start up every time he says anything critical is flipping annoying. I think sometimes that drowns out the positives he says.

Was better on ITT as he had more time to comment on good and bad. That said, I thought he was v critical at the weekend but I reckon his unwillingness to do a "Have a 5 because you tried and it's the first week" balances out the other judges.

WhatchaMaCalllit · 01/10/2013 08:09

Yay...kindred spirits who also love SCD!

Watching ITT last night I actually 'got' what Craig was saying about marking high in the first week and where do the dancers have to go if you give them a 7 or an 8 to start...better to score them low and give them the 8, 9 or 10 when they really really deserve it.

Also Dave & Karen are doing the American Smooth and Karen has said that Dave is really strong (looks can be deceiving) so the lifts shouldn't be a problem Smile

I was creased over laughing at Dave & Karen's dance.
I want Vanessa to be voted off (and I know that means losing the wonderful James Jordan) but she is just annoying
I love love love that Anton has a partner that is able to move and not the comedy act of the show.
I think Patrick moves brilliantly for someone who is knocking on the door of 50!
The rest of them, I'll see how they get on over the coming weeks.

CloudOfStarlings · 01/10/2013 09:15

I always love Craig on ITT, his sense of humour comes through. He's the most level-headed judge I think, never rises to the jibes the other judges make at him, & always marks consistently.

TheOneWithTheHair · 01/10/2013 10:37

Right I've caught up on iplayer now.

I couldn't watch Dave. It was sooo bad. Embarrassing really and I don't think he has enough personality to get the "awww" vote.

The guy from HollyOaks surprised me as he did better than I thought.

There is quite a bit of potential talent this year and it's going to be interesting to see who makes the most of it.

Impomea · 01/10/2013 11:03

Actually ,Saintm, Vanessa has a first class honours degree from Cambridge and she is very articulate and self depricating .I just want her to stay in for a bit to annoy Craig!

digerd · 01/10/2013 12:17

Yes! Got my TV picture back to perfect and am still stunned. Had 2 other Virgin Media 'engineers' who just said it was my TV and I needed a new one.
Today had a lovely blonde smiling, very polite and very young looking man come who at last knew what he was doing to get it goingGrin. He just put the connection in the right place as was in the wrong one Grin.
Looking forward to being able to see Strictly at last. Smile

digerd · 01/10/2013 12:23

From what I did manage to see , Patrick really impressed me and I am annoyed he was given a partner who is too short for him. It will affect his shoulders and posture especially important in the ballroomSad

CloudOfStarlings · 01/10/2013 14:39

Dave and Karen are brilliant! Am I really the only one who thinks so?? Anne Widdicombe was embarrassingly bad...Dave is HILARIOUS!

saintmerryweather · 01/10/2013 18:52

i didnt say she wasnt intelligent, just thinking that deborah meaden is more successful and must be a bit clever to be worth 40mil

i was actually cringing at vanessas new yorks...didnt james teach her anything at all during those 3 weeks?!

digerd · 01/10/2013 19:13

On ITT tonight Karen Hardy agreed that Vanessa "plodded" with her walks and it was not a good performance. She explained about the hip action in the latin and that it is impossible with straight knees. One should be bent and the other straight. Also the women must keep their feet and knees together when posing .
I noticed with the Corrie girl that many of her moves were balletic, hence the lack of hip movements. Her latin should be more earthy instead of ethereal. But she will be lovely in the Waltz this weekend.

saintmerryweather · 01/10/2013 22:24

i agree about the hip action for natalie but she had such beautiful straight legs, and her arms were lovely too

digerd · 02/10/2013 15:37

Karen Hardy said that one knee must be bent to enable the hip action. Impossible on 2 straight ones.
So looking forward to her Waltz. Will she get better marks than Abbey?

FrankelInFoal · 02/10/2013 15:56

Karen always talks sense Grin

I remember having problems when I first started dancing the Cha Cha Cha and Rumba in that my knee never wanted to flex while dancing a New York, so my hip action as I transferred weight was non-existent!

Part of the hip action is also about learning to settle into the hip. If you try to dance "on your toes", as many beginners do, you never learn to settle the weight over one leg.

Plus if Natalie has a tendency to dance with straight legs, she'll never get the "drive" or rise and fall needed for the Waltz, or any of the "driving" dances for that matter.

Fiderer · 02/10/2013 16:05

Forgot to ask this last night - whose pelvic floor was Karen talking about last night and why? Zoe gave a v good and quick look to the camera Grin but didn't ask further.

CloudOfStarlings · 02/10/2013 22:35

It was Fiona's fiderer! I'm not sure if she actually meant pelvic floor Confused as she was talking about how strong she was in all those twists in the tango..seemed a bit bizarre!
