Am looking forward to this, RL Waterloo Rd?

Agree, I think Georgia's behaviour was far worse than Jack's.
Did you stamp on his head? " a dernt ner, a mighter dun".

I think at this level we can't make a judgement on boys' vs girls' behaviour at this school. We've seen so few, comparatively, that we can only really compare on an individual level.

Do you think perhaps you've noticed this because girls are "supposed" to be better behaved and "nicer" than boys?

riskit4abiskit · 19/10/2013 06:42

I thought that compared to the middle class average school I work at, that the behaviour was very good - I wish I worked there!

Perhaps they edit out the really challenging behaviour?

riskit4abiskit · 19/10/2013 06:43

And in my experience, girls are usually a lot more difficult than boys!

aliciaflorrick · 19/10/2013 06:55

Did anyone notice when jack was sent to the inclusion unit, the little boy from an earlier episode was also being taught in there? I can't remember his name now but he'd had trouble settling into big school.

Alexandrite · 19/10/2013 08:22

Jack got into trouble for intimidating a younger child. I also know of boys and girls who have been bullied by individual boys or groups of boys. So it's not all cheeky chappy lovable rogue style behaviour by boys.

ImperialBlether · 19/10/2013 19:47

Does anyone watch it and think, "I know they're doing a good job with the naughty ones, but how the hell are the others learning anything?" Some of the kids are like sacrificial lambs.

chocoluvva · 19/10/2013 20:46

My DD commented on how intensely irritating it is when pupils engage in disruptive behaviour. She has a low opinion of people who waste her time. Even though she's not hard-working out of school.

microcosmia · 19/10/2013 22:15

DS watched this with me and is very shocked at the behaviour in and out of class and the mouthing off by students. He has said so much of what goes on would never be tolerated in his school. His school isn't even the strictest around here though it is strict. In fact some local parents feel it's not strict enough. Anyway DS keeps asking how do the kids in EY who behave and want to learn manage to stay motivated. Mind you he gets irritated when there's any messing in his classes but it's always swiftly dealt with. Of course we don't get to see the lessons where things go to plan due to editing probably.

ByTheSea · 20/10/2013 11:09

Did anyone else notice the teacher's suit being 10 sizes too small? I found it very distracting.

nomorecrumbs · 20/10/2013 15:27

Yes!! I thought it was just me being perverted.

secretscwirrels · 20/10/2013 15:35

How frustrating for the school that they had put so much into helping Jack and he had made such progress only for his family to move him again.
I was at an open evening last week. The head was doing the usual speech to prospective students and their anxious parents. He felt the need to say that his school was nothing like the one on tv. Grin

Here we go, my favourite program. Will be gutted when it finishes.

Oh the 'big dreams'..
Seem to have something in my eye...

difficultpickle · 24/10/2013 21:15

In my day we didn't have an English speaking exam but it seems pupils do now. Surely Musharaf's stutter would be classed as an additional need and he would get support? I don't understand why the teacher is basically telling him to concentrate on the other examined parts of English instead.

Janus · 24/10/2013 21:22

God, I'd like one week where I didn't have a tear in my eye! Sorry but teachers do an amazing job, I think this head is amazing.

DameEdnasBridesmaid · 24/10/2013 21:26

He would get extra time in exams, they need to make reasonable adjustment.

Who is helping him? Where is his speech therapist?

OP posts:
difficultpickle · 24/10/2013 21:29

That's what I was wondering.

I think there are some good teachers but I've not been at all impressed with the head.

honeybeeridiculous · 24/10/2013 21:31

I love those teachers, they deserve a medal! Iv had a tear in my eye already Grin

GuillotineLibertine73 · 24/10/2013 21:32

That's what I thought too, surely someone should be working with him on his speech,I think the teachers are lovely.

honeybeeridiculous · 24/10/2013 21:36

I think the head is great, very down to earth and seems to understand the kids, my DS head is so far up her own ass and lives in her palatial office with her minions cowering around her, that English teacher, mr Burton is fab

DameEdnasBridesmaid · 24/10/2013 21:37

Mr Burton is inspirational, they will never forget him.

Bisjo, why are you not impressed? I like that he seems to be so involved and know his pupils and he seems so approachable, we have a similar head and he stands at the bus stop every home time and knows all the names of pupils (1,100 in our school!) I have a great deal of respect for him.
