As it says really - the old thread is nearly full, so here's a continuation for those of us watching on C4 on Sundays. Please, no spoilers - not even vague ones!

If you've watched the whole if season one already, there's a naughty corner another thread over there -->

Whats the Writers address!!! i want to eat the mother i knew this would happen !!! 12-15 months !

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/07/2013 19:06

12/15mths Shock thats ages away :(

so we are gonna be in limbo

Aethelfleda · 18/07/2013 19:38

Let's just hope enough of the questions are answered to slake our thirst a little and stop us from eating the furniture in frustration

Yep, the only problem with "we can't spoil you cos we don't know ourselves" writers is that sometimes they run out of steam/inspiration and the convoluted plot dissolves into a steaming mess. I want this to be like The Fades (and if you've not seen it do, it's fab!) where they did a single excellent series, the major story arc had a resolution of sorts, there were still lots of untied ends (they wanted a series 2 but some eejit funded a fifty-eleventh series of Being Human instead.) but enough resolution for it to work as a standalone series. I don't want it to be like Babylon 5 (where they had a perfectly thorough 4-series story arc but then had a one-series mess where they had to shoehorn two series worth of arc into one with a substituted major character cos an actress left, and it all went a bit mental and left lots of things just hanging).

Ahem. Long term geek, moi??

anonacfr · 18/07/2013 23:58

So we are all going to have to in a year then?

By the way I never even thought about Thomas not recognising Simon. It is just too bizarre. Even if it was a suicide, Thomas presumably saw the body. Also it would make sense that Adele would have pictures to at least show her daughter.
Of course 10 years have passed but did Thomas not think that Simon looked a tad familiar when he was arrested?

IdaBlankenship · 19/07/2013 07:54

I still don't think Simon committed suicide. It's too convenient for Thomas to say that at the 11 hour to ensure Adele comes back to him not Simon.

ButThereAgain · 19/07/2013 08:00

This abbreviation "the revs" keeps making me think of a horde of undead vicars.

IdaBlankenship · 19/07/2013 08:23

Maybe the vicar is the king Rev?

ButThereAgain · 19/07/2013 08:30

Good point -- a kind of zombie archbishop.

RappyNash · 19/07/2013 09:35

Ooh, maybe their faces were covered in the Victor/family shooting incident not just to disguise the fact that Pierre was one if the gunmen, but also that he was the same age he is now?!

Aethelfleda · 19/07/2013 12:50

whoah nappy, you might be on to something there! Tho surely people would have noticed en village...?

butThere I have it! The lead zombie is Father Jack and I claim my five pounds! How do you translate "Feck!" into French?

Msbluebozooka · 19/07/2013 15:59

Yes !! Pierre is the head Rev dont forget many times he has said to Camille "this has happened before, don't worry."

EatYourCrusts · 19/07/2013 16:20

I have a weird rash on my back like Lena. Sad

How do you put pictures on your profile? I'm turning into a French zombie twin.

coffeeinbed · 19/07/2013 16:23

One - well, one more - strange thing.
When Serge stabs his victims he says "It will be over soon".
What will? The stabbing? Something else?
And why is he saying it?

toldmywrath · 19/07/2013 16:35

yy Fleda the Fades was brilliant.
Feck, Nuns & Drink needs translating into la Francaise!

Coffee Maybe he is making Revs? He is saying "it will be over soon" as in death - the implication being that they will return soon perhaps?

IdaBlankenship · 19/07/2013 19:29

Sorry forgot to add - he is biting them to turn them....?

coffeeinbed · 19/07/2013 20:21

He says in a very caring way, comforting almost.

Aethelfleda · 19/07/2013 20:43

Ooh, ooh, maybe the village are ALL in a hinterland purgatory type affair (having been wiped out by one of the dams bursting) and Serge is actually an Angel Of Death type figure so the people he's "killing" are actually then released and able to pass over? Might explain his odd "caring" verbals and expression....Would make him a serial-killer-goody though....bit of a twist?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/07/2013 20:56

I'm not going to read the rest of the thread just yet but we finally watched the first one tonight. Really really enjoyed it :)

We did let dd(13) watch it in a pfb idea of it might improve her French, are there bits in future episodes that will give her nightmares? The stabbing was rather vicious.

Gingersnap88 · 19/07/2013 21:12

It is very gory and quite scary. There's a particularly grisly scene where he attempts to kill Julie and eats her liver! Made me very uncomfortable!

There's a fair bit of sex and full frontal too Wink

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/07/2013 22:06

kitten, plus you see simons rather nice willy :)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/07/2013 23:01

Oh blimey - thanks for the heads up! Perhaps I should just blindfold her so she can keep working on her listening skills!

ButThereAgain · 20/07/2013 07:06

I think if the first episode's underpass scene didn't scare her too much then the subsequent nasty scenes should be ok.

The sex scenes are quite nice, really. I think on the whole they are more balanced and female friendly than sex scenes in British telly -- less geared up to cliches that objectify the woman in the scene. The naked men is one aspect of that. No one-sided lingering on female nudity while the men's jolly-bits are hidden away. So from that point of view I wouldn't be too anxious about a DD watching those scenes.

Kitten, I'm going to make reference now to a couple of scenes in episodes you haven't seen yet, so you might want to look away.

I felt a bit challenged by the scenes in which Lena-at-15 had sex with Frederic and later when Camille (still 15 because of dying and all) initiated sex with him. There was nothing wrong with the scenes at all, though. I think it is just because British telly is more reticent about showing sex scenes with such young characters.

Also, I was annoyed that Lena quite readily segued from being in fear of her life in Serge's loft to melting into his arms for a quickie. That's more like the kind of female-unfriendly cliche we are used to seeing. But I'll be charitable and put it down to her sensing that he is fundamentally trustworthy and gentle with her, what with the miracle nettle pesto curing her festering wound.

Rollergirl1 · 20/07/2013 08:13

But there: I think the actress who plays Lena is excellent, when she's holding up the knife to Serge she is literally hyperventilating with fear. I think her suddenly capitulating and having sex with Serge is true to the character though. She's deeply troubled and I think she uses her sexuality a lot, perhaps just to forget the pain and guilt she feels about Camille. Don't you remember how she tried to latch on to Simon in the first episode but he wasn't interested. Serge is showing her some affection and she's responding the only way she knows how.

Kitten: I'm not sure I'd let a 13yr old watch this series to be honest. There is sex and violence but it is also quite gruesome, brooding and dark and I would say is capable of giving nightmares. I'm sure there's other ways she can brush up on her French?
