I am so excited!

DH takes over all catering for this fortnight (he does it at other times too) so I can plump my cushions, grab the handchange & get watching.

I'd like to be saying who I was putting my money on to win - but I really can't decide between Rafa, Federer Djokovitch & Murray.

I'd just say that it will be one of them and, sadly, I'd put Andy in last place.

Two weeks of tennis coming up!!

Bring it on. Wine (pimms) & Grin

Can anyone join in. I love Wimbledon! Would love to go one year (i keep dropping hints to dh). Go Andy.

Hello! The more the merrierGrin

(and I've just seen that MNHQ are considering a Wimby emoticon, because we begged looked sad when they said no).

RaahhfaNadalismyToyboy · 24/06/2013 14:44

C'mon Azarenka - finish it off.

So we can see Nadal

VAMOS RAFA

RaahhfaNadalismyToyboy · 24/06/2013 14:49

Ahhh, I like Cilic- but I've always loved Baghdatis.

Goran!

ClayDavis · 24/06/2013 15:06

Tsonga and Nadal on at the same time. Who do I watch? Think I'll go with Nadal.

blibblibs · 24/06/2013 15:09

Rafa wins whenever I have a conflict of matches!

Here we go.....

PetiteRaleuse · 24/06/2013 15:11

I'm watching Tsonga. Will someone nudge me if Murray comes on as French TV won't show it if French players are on court. Even the ones that have zero chance.

RaahhfaNadalismyToyboy · 24/06/2013 15:20

Pity Tsonga is playing Goffin- I liked what I saw of him at the French.
Allez Tsonga

(but I'm going to watch Nadal).

RaahhfaNadalismyToyboy · 24/06/2013 15:21

petite- at least you have a few French players who could have a chance. After Murray, the closest Brit is ranked 221!! Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 24/06/2013 15:22

Very true :o

MrsVamosRAFA · 24/06/2013 15:35

Hello Gorgeous !

These slow starts do my heart no good, you know. Wink

RaahhfaNadalismyToyboy · 24/06/2013 15:35

Right- I need this over by 4.15, as I have to go get the other dcs. So, get a wriggle on Rafa!

no, it's flashbacks to last year. His opening match was tortuous. But he's fitter this year I hope

IreneR · 24/06/2013 15:38

I'm in, kids. I was able to l i s t e n to RF's quick match this AM, thanks to Wimbledon radio.

Hate to say this, owing to all you manic Rafa fans, but I'd rather Nadal doesn't win EVERYTHING this year. Call me contrary.

(As a Fed fan, I'd really prefer Rafa gets miraculously knocked out before the QFs, for obvious reasons. The way my year is going, I won't be able to stand another beatdown from Nadal....)

Whatever happens, it's going to be a fun 2 weeks.

MrsVamosRAFA · 24/06/2013 15:40

That's wishful thinking, Raahh. Smile

Should be nearly over, provided Rafa doesn't drop a set, I would imagine.

Roger played well earlier, seeing as his opponent didn't stand a chance. Hmm Don't think he will get his 8th Wimby title though.

Didn't think much of the Andy documentary last night, I didn't really learn anything that I didn't already know. I still just can't warm to him though. I expect if he does well, I'll have a tear in my eye, like at the Plympics last year, but SO want Rafa to win.

MrsVamosRAFA · 24/06/2013 15:42

If Rafa's as fit as he was for Roland Garros, and feeling as well as he was, I reckon we already know who the winner is. I don't think he would have come to Wimby feeling as awful as he clearly did last year, and not fully fit.

Time will tell. But I reckon Rafa has another gear this year.

VAMOS RAFA !

RaahhfaNadalismyToyboy · 24/06/2013 15:47

I didn't watch the Murray doc- the PR machine are really in full flow this year, it's annoying. And Sue Barker plugged it constantly during Queen's, so I was determined to miss it. Grin

VAMOS RAFA

IreneR · 24/06/2013 16:00

See, I would have liked to be in with the cool girls in being bonkers for Rafa. I just can't this time around.

I'm intrigued by the lukewarm response Andy Murray gets from so many. I once spoke to a fellow American who baldly said she would always support any American against anyone else, which I found sort of repulsive, if you actually like tennis. While it would be very good for tennis if an American man could compete at the top again so that more people would care about tennis over here Jack Sock against anyone else? Really?

RaahhfaNadalismyToyboy · 24/06/2013 16:02

Right- giving the crowd something to cheer is all very well, but
VAMOS RAFA!

Mind you, Darcis doesn't look like he'd have the energy to go the distance.

ClayDavis · 24/06/2013 16:05

I'm not sure he's got enough to last the set. He looks knackered. Rafa might want to find that other gear soon.

RaahhfaNadalismyToyboy · 24/06/2013 16:10

Buggerit-school run calls....

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/06/2013 16:27

Oh dear, post surgery nap happened. It's a bit of a bugger, no idea what went on Blush

Will have to try harder Smile

Murray next?

MrsVamosRAFA · 24/06/2013 16:29

Argh ! Why oh why oh why !

Rafa always seems to do this lately. I'm not going to panic, he did this at RG and got better and better.

I can't work out if it's because he has learned not to come out and go hell for leather, or if he does really struggle coming to new surfaces ?

It used to be that Rafa uses the 1st set to kind of suss his opponent out, then steps up a gear.

Getting slightly pissed off with the commentators all seemingly gunning for Rafa to lose, or be the 'big scalp' of the men. Don't like the crowd mentality of "we'll cheer on the underdog just cos we can" either.

I thought the whole idea of going to see tennis, or any sport, was because you like the sport and/or particular players, not so that you could boo one of the greatest there ever has been, then cheer for him or her later in the tournament.

People are too fickle for my liking. Which is why I plonk my ass on the sofa and screech for Rafa from the saftey of my living room !
